With 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and 2,200 square feet of tastefully decorated living space, this beautiful residence is a fantastic size and layout for families, couples out for a romantic getaway, or a group of close friends traveling together. Everyone in your travel party will love this home’s rustically charming all-wood interior, boasting a variety of delightful touches such as majestic cathedral ceilings and a floor-to-ceiling wood burning fireplace in the living room, complete with an attached moose head and subtle wood scent throughout. On the first level, you’ll find the cozy living room, kitchen, den, queen bedroom with full bathroom, laundry room with half bath, and the mudroom entrance between the kitchen and garage, where you can conveniently enter the house directly from the garage without exposing yourself to the elements. The mudroom also offers access to a small porch and deck, perfect for relaxing outdoors while enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. This area has a lot to offer for both outdoor enthusiasts as well as those less inclined to the outdoors, and this property is ideally located to let you enjoy it all! Lake Everest in Wilmington is only 1.6 miles away from the house and features a town beach, boating, and swimming. About 3 miles away is the Flume on the AuSable River, home to waterfalls and a fun swim hole. You’ll also find great hiking trails and ample fishing spots nearby, most notably excellent trout fishing. Whiteface Mountain Ski Area, an Olympic mountain and one of the 46ers, is only 5 miles from the property and offers terrific hiking and skiing. Whiteface is home of the 1980 Olympics and has the greatest vertical drop in the east. It's a full-service mountain with 87 trails, 11 lifts, terrain parks, and glade skiing, as well as a learning ski area and 6 restaurants. The area also has miles of cross country ski trails either in the back country or at ski centers where equipment can be rented. Plus, the gondola also runs in the summer!

There’s lots to see and do over at Lake Placid just 10 miles away, from golf courses, dining and shopping to Olympic venues and hiking. You’ll find more hiking trails in the High Peaks, located 16 miles away in Keene Valley, and even more hiking 22 miles away in the artsy town of Saranac Lake. If you’re traveling with children, be sure to stop by Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole, New York, which is located about 1.5 miles from the house and open almost year-round. For fine dining, you’ll find several good restaurants in Wilmington and Lake Placid, which also has a movie theatre for your entertainment. There’s a ton of art in the area of all kinds, including performing art, and you’ll love being able to get fresh, home-grown food at the area’s local farms. Terrific house close to Whiteface, Lake Placid and Other Attractions

My friends and I schedule regular winter trips to Lake Placid so we can ski Whiteface and this was the first time we stayed in Wilmington. The house accommodated 3 families, including adults and kids. There was plenty of space and it offered all the amenities we needed. It was super clean and comfortable (including the beds!) The kids loved playing outside in the backyard and near the stream despite the cold weather. They were constantly going out there...the house is literally down the road from Whiteface so we were able to get there quickly in the mornings to start our day. Lake Placid is also "down the road" about 20 minutes. We didn't mind the short drive as we spent most of our time at the house or mountain. Over our 5-day stay, we visited LP only once. We had plans to go again but the entire village of LP lost power on Saturday and it didn't get restored until late morning Sunday. Luckily we didn't lose any power in Wilmington :) The only issue we had was with the two coffee makers...seemed some had trouble with it. But it could've been user error. If you need and love your coffee, you may want to bring your own machine or Keurig...overall we loved the house and will definitely stay here again. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Beautiful house with a fly problem

We stayed in the Wilmington area for a wedding, and really wanted to love this home. It was absolutely beautiful, and rounded out our Adirondack experience. However, upon arriving at the house, and throughout the weekend, the fly problem inside truly detracted from our stay. On our first walk through the house, we found dead flies in the bathtub, toilet, sinks, window sills, and elsewhere, plus countless more alive and buzzing. More than just an annoyance, it prevented our group from sleeping with buzzing throughout the night, and instead of spending time catching up in the cozy living room when we arrived, we spent the evening attempting to swat as many as possible before going to bed. As another review mentions, there are subtle attempts to remedy this issue, like a fly catcher in the upstairs landing area, but if the owners are aware of the problem they should make a more earnest attempt to fix it. While the stay was 'good' overall, if we come back to the Adirondacks in the future we will look for another residence.

Owner's Response: We are sincerely sorry for the unfortunate experience you had with house flies during your stay in our home last weekend. We are aware of a problem with flies that particularly occurs in the fall about this time as the weather cools and flies seek the warmth inside. This summer, we engaged a pest control professional with whom with have a contract to handle these things while still being environmentally responsible. We will let the professional know that the problem persists. Be assured that we intend to remedy the situation and I hope you understand that it is not due to lack of cleanliness/sanitation in the home. We appreciate the positive rating you gave the home and your positive comments as well. Beautiful house with all the amenities and a great location! 5 STARS!

We were only able to stay for a short visit this time but hope to make this an annual family get a way and stay for the week next year. This house was clean, spacious & stunning. The listing was accurate, clean and well-maintained. I would definitely recommend this property to my friends. Very close to a popular cliff jumping spot where the children had a wonderful time jumping and swimming around the waterfall. Lots of sleeping areas for our children, comfortable beds. Gorgeous granite counter-tops in kitchen, kitchen fully stocked with everything one needs to prepare meals. A grill, a screened in porch, a pretty yard and a stream for the children to play in. Only about 20 min from downtown Lake Placid. We will definitely stay here again. The only issues we had, which were not big issues was that the wi-fi was very slow and at times did not work, which made it difficult for me to work from here, and we couldn't figure out how to turn on the televisions. Not necessarily a bad thing since it kept us off of our electronics and we were able to enjoy more family time. Also, would have loved to be able to bring our dog, but understand that most rentals do not allow pets. Thank you for a wonderful stay, five stars from us!

Nice house, but issues

Nice house and nice location in relation to Whiteface, lake placid etc. beautiful log cabin style house, however has fly and wasp problems(see garage and the fly strip hanging Above Owners started off being very accommodating to a schedule change and allowed us to shift our date a day.

Problems started shortly after arriving. The driveway was a sheet of ice and was never treated. My four wheel drive suv almost slid off the driveway. We're stuck in the first night and had to have someone come out late to salt/sand.

The great aspects of the house and location were washed out by the fact that we were stuck in the first night and the fact that one of the small children at the house and my dad who has reactions to certain bee stings got stung inside the house by waspsIn calling the owners they seemed in different to the issue and upon checkout discussed this with the rental company and were told we'd hear from the owners but never did. I would have thought with the problems with our stay(some due to lack of attention to detail,) that something would be done to make things right. However we never heard anymore. Overall disappointing.

The local manager was at the property before the arrival and there was no issue with ice at that time. When the ice was brought to their attention - it was cleared right away! Wasps and bees are very unusual that time of year but the owner has sent an exterminator to ensure the issue is taken care of and does not impact future guests.
