About Naomi or Vadim

Our family has a tradition to go up north at least once a year, mainly in the fall. We have been to a lot of different areas and although we always enjoyed ourselves, we were always searching for the perfect spot. In 2013 my family and I went to Indian River. We found that it was literally THE perfect location up north and fell in love. After spending a week in Indian River and the surrounding areas, we were leaving and I told my husband that we had to end up there in years to come. Little did we know that the family would get together and after looking all over, purchase this beautiful home to use and share with you in Indian River!

I grew up in Florida but my family was from MI. I always had a love for MI even though I had only been here twice. Little did I know that I would meet and fall in love with my future husband who lived in MI.

My husband is originally from Russia and moved here as a young child. Even though he always lived in a city, he and his family always had a passion for the forests and outdoors. A family pastime is picking forest mushrooms!

We live in Oakland County and try to get up to our cabin as often as possible. Our free time includes spending time with family, travelling, cooking, barbecuing, fishing, hunting, skiing, sledding, and snowmobiling.

Naomi or Vadim purchased this house in 2014

Nice big space for the whole family to get away

  • 5 of 5

For my parents' anniversary, we decided to get them an extended family vacation. So the two parents, three kids and four grandkids all arranged to get together for a week. The property was nice and big and perfectly suited for the large group to spend time together. The kitchen was also a good enough size that multiple people could be working together on the family meals. The walls, floors, and ceiling are all wood, which makes for a beautiful, woodsy environment, but also means that sound bounces all over the place. So if you're a light sleeper that goes to sleep earlier or wakes up later that the others you're traveling with, be sure to pack some ear plugs.

The house is pretty secluded, but just a short drive away from restaurants, a lake, and nearby towns like Petoskey and Mackinac Island.

The hosts Naomi and Vadim were extremely responsive to all email questions and we had all the information we needed to get into the house and enjoy the amenities.

Overall, we had a great time and I wish we could have stayed longer. We would definitely return again.

Plenty of room for 3 families. We had a great time in this big beautiful home. Very nice walk to the river. Lots of close by things to do. Was a great getaway. Only problem is we would have liked to have more time :) Next time we will book a longer vacation :)

Everything we thought it would be, and more!

  • 5 of 5

This northern MI log home met and exceeded all of our expectations. In addition to it being spacious, clean and well-appointed/maintained, it had all the amenities promised/pictured. There was more than enough room for our party of eight adults (we could have added more!), and we thoroughly enjoyed every part of the house and property. From nightly fires down at the cozy firepit located directly behind the house, to sitting on the river that is a mere 30 second walk to reach. We loved seeing canoers, rafters and kayakers paddle by, each one saying we clearly had the best seat and view on the river. Every day we cooked with ease in the well-equipped kitchen, and a gas grill is on-site and ready to use. Having three bathrooms in the house was great when it came to having eight adults trying to get ready to head out for the day. Although there was a neighbor on one side, we still felt extremely secluded. It was the perfect spot for our annual canoe trip! Thank you for opening your home to renters and for a fantastic long weekend. We hope to be back!

I would make a note of a couple things. this is in know way a negative or complaint. the Refrigerator is very noisy when it kicks on & one evening we had no power. everyone in area was out. what nice people next door. they called power company for us. Just a note ,no way a complaint.........Thanks again Gary & Rose

Long Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to stay for our Aunts / Grandma weekend with seven kids. The downstairs provided a perfect environment for the kids to all stay together and they enjoyed having the couch / tv in "their" space as well. The dining room table and outside patio set were a little tight but we made it work. :o) Our family enjoyed our time around the fire pit as well. We didn't make it out to walk the nearby trails but will keep it in mind for next time. The location was perfect for our visit to Burt Lake, Big Bear Adventure and Mackinac City / Island. The hosts were very responsive and provided a great home with most of the amenities you need for a get away. Definitely recommend. Thanks!

Great home!

  • 5 of 5

Our families had a great time! It was so nice to be able to spread out - we never felt over-crowded! It was nice to have everything provided - even a polka-dot can opener!

Loved the lower level - the kids claimed that for themselves. Property is beautiful and soooo peaceful. We all kayaked and the kids played in the river.

We would definitely return!

Thanks for everything!
