We stayed at the castle and it was incredible! Not only is it the coolest place we have ever stayed, the family is beyond friendly and made sure our stay was a great experience! We ate at the farmhouse restaurant and took Nana's cooking class. All were amazing! By the end of our trip it felt like we were part of the family! Highly recommend staying and getting the full experience!
The castle is tucked away just outside of Siena. Absolutely beautiful exterior and interior. Breakfast was simple and delicious. Room and bathroom were very spacious with large windows that could open and overlook the Tuscan countryside. Niko was quite helpful. We had a wonderful time and would stay here again!!
What a unique experience to stay in a 13th century medieval castle, and in the Tuscan country side no less! Room was clean, enjoyed the scenery, fresh air, breakfast, and hospitality. Had a wonderful dinner at the farm house as well, stars filled the night sky. Close to Sienna, and yet in the country. Don't miss the opportunity to stay at this B&B, you won't be disappointed.
This property is one of a kind. It feels as though you are in another century~ beauty as far as you can see, wonderful rooms and delicious breakfast! The owners and operators are kind and helpful. It is very clean and everything you need is available. There isn't an elevator, but we just carried what we needed and left the rest in the car. Comfortable, beautiful and one of a kind!
The castle is located just outside of Siena and is a lovely quiet magical place to stay. It is a small bed and breakfast with just three guest rooms. We had the blue room and it was lovely and very comfortable. The views from our room and bathroom were classic Tuscany and were absolutely stunning. It is pretty necessary to have a car to get to the castle and driving in Siena isn't too bad. The castle was easy to find with our GPS and Nicola was there to greet us upon arrival. Our room was large and had enough space we could hang out there after a day of exploring--or we could utilize the other common areas. Overall, a very nice set up. Additionally....at night with the window shutters all closed...it was quiet and dark and perfect!
They serve a very nice breakfast in the morning with juice, water, fruit, meat, cheese, bread and croissants. It is just right to head out and start your day. Nicola was a delightful host and made sure we had a map of Siena and pointed out several places to see and eat while in Siena. He also runs a farmhouse restaurant nearby which we also ate at--this was also lovely. Valeria was also very helpful and friendly. Both Nicola and Valeria took time to chat with us and inquire about our stay and everyone was very, very kind. The castle itself was incredible and a great testament to Italy's interesting and rich history.
Two last things....there are some stairs up to the castle rooms. If you have difficulty with stairs, this may not be the place for you. Nicola has a very nice system for getting the bags up to our room without having to carry them, so that was wonderful!!! For us, the stairs were not a problem and sometimes the walk up the stairs to our castle sanctuary was very relaxing! Lastly- Osteria-La Mossa (found in the Piazza del Campo in Siena) and Nicola's farmhouse are definitely two places to find time to eat.
We would recommend this as a place to stay and would stay there again!
This is a perfect apartment for a family. We stayed there with our daughters (9 and 7) and baby, and everything from the welcome to the rooms was outstanding. The castle commands spectactular views of the surrounding regions. All around there are olive groves and fields that our daughters loved exploring. In the morning we were served a lovely breakfast. Our hosts in the castle were extremely helpful -- I only wish we could have stayed longer! I highly recommend this place as a base from which to explore the beautiful region (Siena, San Gimignano, Montalcino etc).
Note that the owners of the castle also have a pretty farm house about 10 minutes away that has an excellent restaurant (La Pietre Vive). We ate there on our first night, and it was one of our best meals of the trip.
