This is a wonderful apartment, and will be our first choice of a place to stay the next time we are traveling to Cambridge. The apartment is very well furnished & comfortable, and Freeman was super easy to work with. The neighborhood is charming - a short walk to Harvard, and easy access to a subway stop for a trip into Boston. Highly recommend!
Our family of 4 and family friend from Germany enjoyed a great 4 night stay in July. Located adjacent to Harvard, a block from the Charles River, and a short 5-minute walk to the Harvard T-Stop, the townhouse is perfect alternative to a hotel. We made good use of a nearby Whole Foods, grilling on the back patio 3 of the 4 nights, saving a ton of money otherwise blown at restaurants. Perfect place to come back to after a long day of site seeing.
The owner (Freeman) was very responsive to every question throughout our stay by text and email. I would've rated this 5 stars, but a noisy construction project right next door woke got us up early every morning (no fault of the owner, but it did detract a bit from the stay). Once that project is done, it's a 5 star property for the price.
Highly recommended for small-ish families interested in exploring Boston.
Generally, the townhouse was great - great location, everything you can think of provided, clean and comfortable - and the owner friendly and accommodating during that stay. However, there was one key component of the description that was missing.
Directly next door to the townhouse was an ongoing construction site. A similar home, approximately 2' away had been gutted and was being completely renovated, and, next to that, another home had been torn down and was being rebuilt. Starting a little after 6:00 each morning we were there, the construction crew would start congregating, chatting, planning and doing some minor work. Starting just before 7:00 a.m., they started work in earnest. Work continued until 6:00 some evenings.
During our stay, construction scaffolding was mere inches from both bedroom windows. The crew was walking along the scaffolding, using power nail drivers, sawing, hauling equipment, using strong smelling things next to the A/C, whacking the A/C's (accidentally), backing up diggers with beepers and using lots of loud, blue language, waking us up earlier than we planned to be each morning. In addition, the crew could see into the bedrooms and the bathroom, even with blinds, so we had less than average privacy. The outdoor space was not usable due to noise and construction dust.
We tried to adjust our schedules/plans, but it didn't really work, and we didn't get to do all that we had hoped to complete. For up to 12 hours a day, the house was not reasonably usable during our stay and the back yard not at all.
The owner was aware of the construction site and ascertained the city construction code to let us know that the crew had right to be there starting at 7:00 a.m.
Once the construction is completed (in the fall?), I would wholeheartedly recommend this townhouse. Across the street is a nice playground with a spray pad (beware uneven surfaces near the roller slide). Harvard Square is a nice walk away, as are the trails along the Charles. Food basics and then some were in the house. Parking is provided (car needs to be moved daily and can't be parked more than 3 days). Whole Foods and Trader Joes are close, as well as a T stop. The place is small but doesn't feel it. It was clean and comfortable.
Freeman was very accommodating and helpful from the time we inquired until we left. The apartment was right near the Harvard campus with a park across the street. Perfect for my family. There was a trail at the end of the block and everything we needed was a short walk or train ride away. The patio in the back was very nice to sit and have morning coffee. Everything we needed was included. The parking was a little bit of a pain since you have to move your car every day but Freeman gave us a parking pass, which was very helpful and we really didn't have a problem finding parking, it was just remembering to move it. We will definitely stay here again for our next trip to Boston. Thank you for a hospitality.
House is convenient, nicely appointed and ready to go with helpful supplies and information. Owner is very helpful and responds to texts in a timely accommodating manner.
