POSITIVES: This new cabin was so immaculate! It was beautifully decorated with the woodsy nuance; It had all the modern conveniences: appliances were new and so nice! Dish TV worked great. The bedding was extremely comfortable! Top quality mattresses, sheets, comforters. And that gigantic bathtub! What comfort! The large leather sectional had recliners on both ends and was very nice. The back balcony was so quiet and peaceful. Nice patio on the side for grilling, and a spacious 2 car enclosed garage separate from the house. The comfort and quiet of this cabin is unbeatable.
Here are a few negatives that may or may not affect you, depending on your group: Although it is close to the lake, you cannot SEE the lake from the cabin. It is NOT easily accessible to the lake either. There is a very steep drop off about 30 yards from the back of the cabin. The rock cliff could be extremely dangerous for children or older hikers. One has to walk down the hill past three houses and walk across another property to get to the actual lake. There are boat ramps nearby, but just to walk down to the lake to fish or enjoy the shoreline is not possible. The view is beautiful once you do get down to the lake. Also, it is about an hour's drive to Branson. We thought we were closer. If you bring your own boat or camper, you should know the driveway is extremely steep to enter.. From the cabin, it is 6 miles to Eagle Rock where the Dollar General is located , and then another 4 miles south to a very nice town called Holiday Island where there are great grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, golf course, etc. Eureka Springs, Arkansas is extremely nice and only 16 miles south of the cabin. We stayed a week and explored the area pretty well. To the north is Shell Knob,( nice restaurants, a lake, etc) west is Roaring River State Park( Gift shop, an extemely nice lodge restaurant. Nice hiking and fishing in tha area. But you do need to know you will have to travel away from the cabin area to get to places where you can actually hike, fish, etc. ALSO! There is about a 20 foot drop off the balcony; the railing is very sturdy, but the space between the board railing would be very dangerous for small children or pets. Pretty steep outdoor stairs from the top level to the forest floor out back might be a problem for older, less mobil people or young children. It is a great home, just wish it had been more accessible to hiking and the water.
The house was as pictured, however, we were disappointed in a few things. The swimming access seemed farther away then advertised and was up a few big hills, so had to drive to it. It is basically a cliff to jump off of and some rocks to jump into deep water. There was not any shallow water and it was awkward to stay there because there was another group there and there was not really enough room for two groups of people. Also, we had an AT&T cell phone and a T-Mobile cell phone and had no reception at all. There was not a house phone to make phone calls out of either (or internet), so if there was an emergency or question on what time a store opens up, we had to drive around to make a phone call. Since we were trying to find a different swimming area, the internet would have been nice to have without having to drive around with our phones trying to get reception. The 'outdoor grill' that the ad mentions is not usable. We were wondering why there were not any grilling utensils until we saw the nasty grill, which was falling apart and disgusting. The back deck is dangerous for little kids due to the large space between railings. We have a toddler and basically didn't want her out there at all unless we were holding her. Overall, the house was clean and nice, but since there was not easy access swimming, like we had expected, we only came back to the house to sleep each night.
I had a great time at the cabin. Would be fun to go again in the future !!
Cabin is very nice, and equipped with a lot of very nice accessories something a lot of rentals do not come with.
If you want to get away from the crazyness of working 100MPH everyday and need quite and peaceful this is the place. Very clean and up to date inside and outside the cabin. There is no cell coverage, no Wifi, but Dish network to watch movies at night. You can get cell coverage by walking up the road and my wife and I enjoyed walking in the evening to get those text messages and phone calls. I was burned out and needed R&R so I crashed on the couch a lot. Can't see much of the lake from the cabin because of the trees. Very nice stay!
Wonderful cabin! We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. Comfortable beds and convenient laundry access. Loved having coffee each morning on the back porch. The kitchen had everything you could need and more. Very relaxing stay - we can't wait to come back!
