|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Spend a week relaxing on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay while watching the waves roll in from Lake Michigan. Our fully furnished home is located at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, One mile from Grand Traverse Lighthouse and Museum. We are one of the few cottage rentals with a view of both bodies of majestic waters. Enjoy the calmer waters of GTB while watching freighters make their away around the Tip of the Leelanau Penninsula to/from Chicago to the Straits of Mackinaw.
This 1250 square foot three bedroom with oak flooring; two full bath cottage has ceramic floors in the kitchen, laundry, halls and bathrooms with granite counter tops in kitchen and baths.
Settle down in the oak floored dining room and living room while watching the flames dance in the gas log fireplace. Or enjoy the HD TV and Blu-Ray player when it rains. You can grill on the deck while listening to the waves as they gently slap against the beach.
The front of the house has two sets of patio doors so you can sit inside and watch passing boaters on the Bay and freighters on the Great Lakes while sipping your AM coffee and viewing spectacular sunrises over the Bay. There is 85 feet of private beach. Beach is sand with a few small rocks and shells, but enough space to enjoy the sun in a chaise lounge. The Great Lakes make the beach variable daily. We suggest watershoes for swimming in Northern Michigan as the lake bottom is rocky. Beach and bottom varies as the sands shift daily.
The master bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed, dresser, futon and HD TV on all oak floors. The attached master bath has new granite and double sinks and ceramic flooring to accomodate the tub/shower. The second and third bedrooms have queen size beds with dressers with oak flooring.
The smoke-free house is located on a paved road in a private association which has a tennis and basketball courts, three parks, excellent walking beaches and hiking trails.
A canoe with paddles are provided to let you experience your serene surroundings, or sit shoreside and enjoy the fire pit while watching the moonbeams glisten across the Bay.
You are within 17 miles of the Leelanau Sands Casino, 40 miles from plenty of shopping in Traverse City. Local towns of Suttons Bay and Leland are a short 20 minute drive from your retreat.

Enjoy the quaint little bayside Village of Glen Arbor which is located just a few miles from the Dunes. Schedule a day at the Spas or golf at the Homestead before you journey back to the Sunrise Side of the Leelanau Penninsula.

Just two people who love the Great Lakes and beaches! The loons, swans and seagulls float by as we sit on the deck and enjoy the blue waters of the Great Lakes. This is our little bit of Heaven and we would like you to witness the endless beauty that we enjoy.
Gloria Cobb purchased this cottage in 2002
There is no place like the Great Lakes along with wineries and marinas.
Finding Petoskey Stones on the beach. Fishing off the Manitou Islands. Wine tasting. Freightor watching. Loon listening. Peace & quiet. A great place to lose all of your worries and stress and get in touch with Mother Nature and your inner being.

We have enjoyed our fall weekend so much!! Every season here must hold a special magic -- the colors are so brilliant -- truly breathtaking! Visited the candle factory in Traverse City and shopped Sutton's Bay this time. WE took part in the Wine Tasing Festival at Black Star Winery and bought some wine to take home with us; the farm is so picturesque and the day was pretty. Adam found time to get some skating in and thoroughly enjoyed himself and the park. WE probably won't return until next summer, but untl them we will keep our memories every time we look at the photos. Thanks once again for sharing your home with us.

We stayed off-season so it was very quiet in the neighborhood and the whole peninsula, which is fine with me!
The views are amazing, as the northern exposure gives you a solid sunrise and most of the sunset (over the trees, but reflects beautifully on the water and sky)
The house has every modern convenience and special care taken for the front living-room area. I've never sat in a leather-reclining-swivel-rocking chair before and there are two of them which we spent many happy hours in. Often the furniture at rentals is barely adequate, but this place is downright luxurious, such as the comfy couch that could easily fit three adults.
Beautiful hardwood floors from end-to-end, amazing views with double-sliding glass doors out front. A ton of outdoor furniture, some permanently on the beach, others up on the bluff, and the amazing hammock of course.
The gas fireplace worked great and is positioned so that you can enjoy it while looking out at the lake or the opposite direction if you are inclined to watch TV (we didn't)
Wireless WIFI was better than I have at home.
Unlimited firewood, kindling, and a beach-side fire-pit for hanging out.
Three working bicycles, even lifejackets for kids, that's amazing.
Full laundry worked great, even though we didn't plan it. Like everything else, it is completely thought out: there was laundry detergent.
The kitchen was stocked with everything you could imagine: even coffee filters, disposable travel coffee cups with lids, an immense selection of wineglasses, aluminum foil, saran wrap, everything you can possibly imagine, it's in there.
The water level was high this year so we could only walk East on the beach due to rock breakwalls on neighboring houses.
Unlike Cathead Bay, there is not the 30 mile-an-hour wind down the beach which never stops. Generally we had still to mild breezes most of the time.
Owners let us check in a couple hours early as we were the first arrivals of the season!
They are very accessible as they live about half hour awayy
The only downside would be for someone who was wheelchair bound, there are no ramps although if you can manage three steps, you're in!
If you don't like to cook there are about 4 restaurants still within a 10 minute drive in Downtown Northport.
The house is not fancy but it is fantastic! Right on the water, great beach, awesome living room/kitchen with a killer view, and comfortable bedrooms. We brought our toddler with us and it was a great place for her: very easy to childproof. We will definitely stay again. Loved it!
A great cottage, well equipped, beautiful view, sunrise & sunset. Lots of wildlife, great walks, wine tours great, visited Leland & Suttons Bay.
For being so late in the autumn color season, we had still great colors to see. The home was clean and very accessible from a paved road, yet private feeling with the many trees around it, even in a neighborhood. A great getaway with no surprises. Yep, it not located close to any big attractions, but that is what we wanted. Of the last four houses we have rented, it is our top choice. We would go back to it because it was just as advertised, with nothing catching us off guard. It was warm, comfortable, and relaxing. We did see a few freighters go by far away on the lake. We could hear shore waves lapping when sitting on the porch, but not inside the house. The neighborhood is very well kept and quiet. Even our little Pomeranian loved the place. Did I mention it was relaxing? Oh, and the owners were very cooperative and helpful.
Had a wonderful stay. House is very nice and met the needs of my wife, me' and our two adult children and there part ers. Right on the lake!!! Pictures do not do justice. Well worth getting up to see the sunrise!!
Generic overview: A lovely home with great views. Beds were comfortable, kitchen had appropriate cookware, outdoor grill was an added plus. Plenty of outdoor seating, large indoor dining area, spacious master bath.
Personal input: This family of four plus one dog felt at home during our stay. The neighborhood has a comminity common area for basketball and tennis, plus some playscapes. We actually didn't have time to enjoy that area too much, as the comforts of Cobb Cottage kept us busy with beach bonfires and daily canoeing.
I have told everyone that has asked about our stay all sorts of good things!
