Welches Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Originally built in 1900; step back in time while enjoying todays conveniences.

Location is everything! Enjoy the feeling of seclusion yet the convenience of everything close by: hiking trails, 27-hole golf course, skiing, restaurants, stores, library AND the Salmon River right out your door! Dining room, kitchen bedroom, covered porch and lawn all provide relaxing viewing pleasure of the Salmon River.

The cabin is heated with a propane heat stove, 'instant on', adding atmosphere the moment you step through the door.

Open any screened window to hear the refreshing sounds of the river, day or night.

Bring your fishing pole and throw in a line.

Forgot your book (Remember those pages bound between hard covers?). No problem. Select one volume of five feet of Harvard Classics. Or tell jokes and read poems to the kids.

Tired of reading and playing games? OK, make the popcorn, heat up the hot cocoa, grab a blanket and nestle down for a movie.

Kick back. RELAX and ENJOY your time at the Cabin on the Salmon!

Secluded cabin with all the amenities of home!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for a long weekend at the Cabin on the Salmon and just adore it there! We got everything by way of weather -- rain one day, chilly fall day the next and HOT the next day. The cabin was perfect for hunkering down inside by the gas fireplace or sitting in the sun by the river. So calm and peaceful -- you feel like your out in the woods, but civilization is just down the road. Lots to do on the mountain, but even more fun to return back to the cabin which is modernly rustic. We did not want to leave by the end of our time and wished we had booked it for longer! Thank you Colleen!

Quaint little trip to yesteryear!

  • 4 of 5

This was the perfect place to stop off one night after a day-long scenic trip up and around Mt. Hood. As we drove in the driveway (careful - there are large divets and holes), we were greeted by the sight of a deer standing in the yard right next to the cabin. The directions were perfect, and there is a coffee shop and food store close by, which we weren't expecting. There are other houses right around so it's also not as isolated as we thought either. Yet, once inside the cabin, it feels like you are away in the woods. The gas fireplace/stove was so nice, because even in August, it was chilly inside that evening. The refrigerator was a little loud, but with the windows open, the sound of the river was so soothing we hardly noticed. I will say that the cabin had more than a few cobwebs, dust bunnies, and live spiders. But we came from an ultra-modern luxury condo in the city the night before, so perhaps it was just a stark contrast. Overall, it was like stepping back in time!

Perfection on the Sandy!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin and the location were just perfect, the beds comfy and everything we needed to cook up a few meals was in the kitchen. A beautiful setting and loved the river trickling past! We were a little disappointed in the $75 cleaning fee. We left the cabin better than when we arrived, and when we arrived there were dust bunnies all about and cobwebs here and there. We removed those, and felt the price for cleaning a little steep as we found it a little bit dusty when we arrived!

Owner's Response: I know what you mean. I feel the same way every time I have to leave. For me, it's almost like I forget there is another world out there. Being at the cabin is like I'm in a magical time warp where time almost seems to stand still. So happy your enjoyed your time at the cabin. I look forward to having you back again.

A beautiful peaceful spot

  • 5 of 5

I planned this trip as a surprise for my husband's birthday and he was thrilled. We loved sleeping with the window open and listening to the river. We sat outside for morning coffee and evening cocktails and saw deer saunter by on more than one occasion. The cabin is adorable and we absolutely loved our stay. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful spot by the river.
