I am a middle school, mathematics teacher. I love the outdoors and spending time with my two pups.
Sabrina purchased this cabin in 2014
I wanted a cabin close to Carter's Lake so my dogs could enjoy the water during the summer.
This little gem is secluded away from the busy North Georgia Mountain's festival and tourist traffic. You wouldn't find it on your own without directions and a love for the outdoors. Newly renovated in 2015 with all of the extras you'd want during your relaxing mountain vacation.
My girlfriend and I loved spending time at Sabrina's cabin. It was the perfect place to relax and get away from the city. The cabin is clean, cozy, and comfortable- so much so that we didn't even want to venture out and do anything in Ellijay. The kitchen was well equipped and made cooking enjoyable, as well as eating on the porch. Sitting in the hottub we had a great view of the stars. And my favorite moment was spending and evening in the living room building a fire in the wood stove and looking at the moon through those beautiful windows. There is a cozy loft perfect for reading and watching movies. I'd recommend you bring hand soap, matches or a lighter if you plan on building a fire, and sugar for your coffee. Otherwise, the cabin had everything we needed. If you are looking for a truly secluded cabin you should know that you can see the neighbor's house from the hottub/back deck, but it didn't bother us and the
The cabin was just what we needed for our vacation away from the big city. Close to many beautiful areas and close enough to Atlanta for a day trip! Carters lake and Helen GA are a must see when visiting this cabin. We loved it, from the rustic quiet setting, to the relaxing hot tub and lively wood burning stove! We had a blast. Thanks Sabrina!
We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was really cute and decently appointed, comfortable and quiet. We wound up purchasing a mixing bowl and donating it to the kitchen wares, but the kitchen was better equipped than others we've stayed in and we had what we needed to cook meals. There were some cobwebs and dust, a few spots on the couches and we did see a few spiders, but we were in the woods, so I wasn't super worried since they were tiny harvestmen and overall the cabin was clean enough and very cozy.
I imagine in the summer when all the trees are full of leaves this cabin feels secluded, but in the winter it is not. The neighbors are very close and the big window faces their cabin. The hot tub could not manage to get warmer than 98 degrees, but since it was chilly that sufficed for a short dip.
This is not a slight against this cabin, since it's common to all cabins we've rented, but the stairs are slippery polished wood with shaky, wobbly banisters. Someone slips and falls down the stairs at every one of them we've stayed at and this was no exception. Be careful on the stairs, especially if you're tired and/or wearing socks. Not sure why nobody puts in a runner.
Overall a very nice little spot for a couple to have a few days away and our dog enjoyed the leaves and hiking opportunities nearby. Wish we'd had an extra day to relax and hike a couple more trails.
I'm going to start with two suggestions - but end with the reason for my 5 star review.
1. We loved the large windows. I could see how during the summer they would provide lovely views and still maintain privacy. However, we went during winter and felt like we had our privacy compromised just a little. Tint on the sliding glass doors or curtains that could be pushed away would be great (but obviously people's comfort level in terms of privacy varies a LOT so I don't fault the owners, just our suggestion).
2. With a ladder and a broom with a towel on the end, all of the old cobwebs mentioned in another review (note that we saw NO bugs on our trip) could be remedied.
We enjoyed our stay and plan to come back next year during the lively fall festivities in Ellijay if our schedule allows. This cabin had an immaculate hot tub, a great space for smores/hot dogs on the fire, and a wonderful loft for children or another couple. We also enjoyed having Netflix rather than cable - as that is what we primarily use at our home. We stayed in and cooked our meals (note that the cabin had utensils - but we would advise you to bring your own sharp knives if you plan on cutting meat or veggies -- and bring any foil or other things you like to use). The cabin had a crock pot and a toaster oven under the cabinet along with a full oven/stove/microwave and coffee maker. We would have grilled out had it not been raining during our stay -- but we knew it would be. If you're ever planning on being in Ellijay or if your family frequents Carter's Lake during the summer, stay a while at Sabrina's cabin...you will NOT be disappointed.
*And the cabin was very easy to get to -- our car (not AWD) had no issue.
*We ate one meal at Cornerstone Cafe in town -- we recommend trying that for lunch if you're out shopping.
*Note that we didn't bring pets, but you couldn't tell that the cabin allowed pets.
*Lots of hiking/outdoors activities near by - but we came in the cold and rainy winter.
Thank you guys!
This cabin was a perfect getaway. Close to hiking trails and a beautiful vineyard. The cleaning fee was definitely stiff for such a small house but overall it was a great weekend. Will definitely be back. Thanks Sabrina!
