Enjoy the island lifestyle in this beautiful beach house that sits on the Pacific Ocean. Relax on the lanai and look out at the waves as the sea turtles pop their heads up for air. As you swing on the lanai with a cup of coffee, take a breath of the morning fresh air as the stunning views of sunrises, Waikiki and Diamond Head begin your days in paradise. Or enjoy the peacefulness of the beautiful tropical garden while you listen to the songs of the Hawaiian birds . The home is situated at the juncture where sand ends and shallow coral rock begins. This location provides and an excellent environment for a robust turtle population.
Create a beautiful tropical tan on your oceanfront sundeck.
Towards the evening, light the Tiki-Torches and hang out at Steiner's Sand Bar and experience a tropical paradise by the sea. Head towards the fire pit and enjoy an evening underneath the stars just feet from the sea.
This house provides an authentic Hawai’ian experience – with many native plants outside, and an open-ceiling. For those interested in connecting with the spirt of the islands there is beach-front sancuary perfect for yoga or meditating with the sound of the waves in the background. Or sit at the water’s edge and watch the fish swim by and the crabs scurry along the sea wall. At night, light the tiki torches and enjoy the warm trade winds as you view the city lights of Honolulu.
The home was originally built in 1949 by a family of fisherman. The original home had a deck that reached from the home to the sea wall for drying nets. The home is constructed from reclaimed wood that was acquired from dismantling military barracks. The open ceiling shows the military blue paint that originally covered our soldiers barracks. The home was renovated in 1980 and raised with a concrete first floor to its current two story configuration.
You will relax in comfort with island-inspired furniture both indoors and out. There are several lounge chairs and umbrella tables outdoors and plush coaches and chairs inside. Additionally, the three bedrooms have large beds that will comfortably sleep up to 6 people. All of the living space is on the second floor, which allows the sea breeze to keep the house cool and enjoyable throughout the day. The bedrooms all have air conditioners. The kitchen has a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, stove, coffee maker, and a large amount of counter space for cooking. The beach-front bar is covered and has a sink and all the stools you will need for a fun gathering with other guests.
The first floor has recently been opened into a spacious sitting area including desks for those who may need to stay connected. This area also includes two queen size futons that can provide additional sleeping for up to an additional 4 guests.
Ewa Beach is old Hawaii surrounded with new beautiful developments. However you will never hear road noise or have the night sky disturbed by road lights. The leeward coast occupies the sunniest part of Oahu that has been populated by Hawaiians since ancient times. The village of Ewa Beach continues to maintain the Hawaiian culture as the natives pass down their plantation type houses through generations. Ewa Beach is a great central location for experiencing all that Hawai’i has to offer. There are several shopping centers, grocery stores, and restaurants within a few minute’s drive. There are also fantastic golf courses and luxury hotels in the area as well. A bit further away, Honolulu provides all of the city amenities one could hope for (Waikiki beach, Diamond Head, Waikele Outlets, Aloha Stadium and Swap Meet, USS Arizona Memorial, etc.). And the North Shore, with all of its natural beauty and fantastic surf, is within a reasonable driving distance as well (Dole Plantation tour, Waimea Falls, Macadamia Nut Farm, Polynesian Cultural Center, big wave surf spots such as Waimea and the famous Bonzai Pipeline).
Please contact us if you have any questions – we would love to hear from you!
Sorry, no pets or smoking inside the house or on the lanai.
Thank you for your interest.
The home was perfect for our family of 5 adults and 2 children. We came for my son's wedding and stayed for 8 nights. We were able to shop for groceries and cook breakfast and dinner each day. There was plenty of room for guests to come over and spend time with us. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend the home to others visiting Oahu.
ALOHA!! We spent 10 AMAZING Days in this house!! There is just too much to say about this house. You can't go wrong if you choose this house. It is just like the pictures, very large, open, airy spacious rooms. Calm & Peaceful listening to the waves crash in day & night. Very well stocked, kitchen, bar, bathrooms, almost everything we needed was already there. The Kitchen is superb, more supplies then at home.. we cooked a few breakfast meals, also enjoyed grilling fresh fish right out of the ocean. We had 9 adults staying here, for our 30th Wedding Vow Renewal, there was always enough room for everyone. We enjoyed early sunrise mornings on the deck and swing, spotting many sea turtles, and some seals, late nights by the fire pit, seawall and sand bar. Fishing on the seawall with the neighbors, several kids stopped by daily to swim around the pipe & seawall, everyone around us was very friendly & helpful. We especially enjoyed the next door neighbors and their dogs too, as we all were missing our pets. The open patio was very nice and had an amazing breeze at night (trade winds). There is something here for everyone. Seawalls, sand, fire pit, quiet shady patios, sun deck, bar, yoga mats, surf boards, boogie boards, water shoes, snorkel gear, beach towels, mats, beach bags, telescope, plenty of parking, coolers-ice packs, ceiling fans, air condition, all the comforts of home and so much more. Greg answered all our questions promptly before our arrival. Brenda & Zach are very nice, we had some difficulties with flights being delayed and they accommodated our arrival. Also some difficulties with the washer, but they resolved it quickly. Ewa Beach is an older (historic) neighbor hood. Driving through the gates can be a bit intimidating and sometimes it is a hassle, but it made the compound feel secure. We all want to thank them for their hospitality and allowing us to enjoy paradise at their house & we are dreaming of when we can return!! MAHALO!!
Upon arrival, we were greeted by Zach. He was very friendly and professional. He gave us a grand tour of the beautiful home and mentioned all of the available amenities.
It was nice to see that the home was fully-equipped with a stocked kitchen (pots, pans, utensils, toaster oven, etc) a washer/dryer, beach gear (beach towels, beach chairs & mats), and a bar - just to name a few. The entire home was clean and nicely decorated. The bedrooms have AC units which we used periodically since the ocean breezes kept the house nice and cool.
My family of eight and I were amazed to see how close we were to the water. It was literally in the backyard. Awesome!!! The swing on the porch was so nice and relaxing. We found ourselves hanging out there a lot. Because we were so close to the water, we were blessed to see sea turtles daily. It was so cute!
The location was great. We were close to Kapolei and Ko Olina which we absolutely loved. The lagoons at Ko Olina are a must see. The North Shore was our favorite. Getting there was easy. We took the main highway Fort Weaver all the way down instead of the freeway.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay in this home. We highly recommend this place and we plan on returning soon.
This was our first time using VRBO and I have to admit I was a bit nervous about what the house was going to be like before arriving. When we did arrive we were overjoyed! First of all, Brenda was wonderful! She gave us the grand tour of the house and we even saw a sea turtle during our tour! The house was very comfortable. It was nice having a kitchen to cook meals. The washer and dryer also came in handy especially for those wet towels after visiting the beach. We loved having the ocean breeze coming through the house every day. It kept the house nice and cool during the day. The rooms also had air conditioning which helped in the evenings. My favorite part of the house was the swing that faced the ocean where I enjoyed my morning coffee while watching the waves and looking out for seals and sea turtles. We truly felt like home.
My family & I stayed at the ocean front home for 10 days on our first vacation trip to Oahu. I have mixed feelings about the home and here is why. The home & view are very beautiful. When we arrived, Zach was there fixing the air conditioner in the master bedroom because it was not working properly. It was fixed within 5min of us being there. He gave us a tour of the entire property & let us know if we needed him to give him a call. Each room was decorated nicely. They were all very clean. Beds were comfortable. The house came fully equipped. The kitchen had all supplies we needed. There was even some left over cooking supplies like salt, pepper, oil, small thing like that. Our family didn't mind. The bathrooms were clean and were fully stocked as well shampoo, conditioner, body wash, sunblock, Aloe Vera, first aid kit, etc. I'm not sure if the owners of the house provided these or they were left behind by other families. They all looked fairly new/hardly used. Again our family didn't mind having these supplies there. Toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates and plastic cups were all in the house as well. This was nice because we didn't have to go out and purchase any of these necessities ourselves. There was also water shoes, snorkeling gear, boogie boards (the neighbor was so kind and brought our family 2 brand new ones), surf boards, etc. The bar is stocked with alcohol. The house has everything! Crabs would crawl onto the sea wall and every night around 5ish there would be a ton of sea turtles swimming near by popping there heads up for air. The porch swing was amazing to sit on everyday & just stare out into the horizon. The neighbors all around were very nice. I read in a previous review that the neighbors dogs were barking a lot and that was a problem. Our family met the neighbor with the dogs, he goes outside with them every single day. Yes, they do bark but the neighbor kept control of his dogs and they were never a problem. Now, let me quickly mention the reasons why this home is not a 5star home. For some, what I am about to mention may be a deal breaker; there are mice, termites and cockroaches on the property. We caught a total of 4 mice in 2days. Termites fly around the porch at night and we killed 3 cockroaches. Brenda & Zach were apologetic of this & came by the house twice to place more traps for us. We have family on the island & they said its a common problem so that put us at ease. Overall, my family & I had a great vacation(:
It was a little hard finding the house but once we got onto the property we were impressed. The top floor was large and open to all the best views and where we spent most of our time. The beds was so comfortable it was hard to get up and out. I love the amount of space this house offered all of my children and grandchildren was able to be together in one place. My only regret is that we never got to use all the things the property had to offer. Brenda (house manager) was very helpful from before we got there and than after meeting her she continued to answer any questions we had. We hope to return for another stay and hopefully to spend more time on the property.
