We would love to welcome you to our condo. It is located in the very heart of Vaison-la-Romaine, only a few moments away from shops, boulangeries, cafes and restaurants; the famous Tuesday market is literally right out the door.
The condo, which we entirely renovated in 2010, is located on the third floor of our building—providing extensive, eye-popping views of the ancient Roman Ruins. (There is a lift, if you prefer not to walk up.) Our own apartment is located just below you on the second floor, so we are nearby if you have questions or need help. We are a French couple, and we love receiving renters from other countries and greatly enjoy having them in Vaison.
Open the double doors in the living room, pull up a chair, and gaze at the ruins while you have your apèro. Or if you prefer, there is a very large, comfortable shaded terrace with seating area and coffee table, plus a large table and chairs for meals. The condo is spacious—1,100 sq ft. The living and dining areas are very large and are furnished with authentic, Provencal walnut antiques. The television (with English language channels) is in the living room. The dining table seats 6-8 comfortably.
We have a fireplace in the living room; on cool evenings we would be happy to have a fire burning for you when you return from the day’s activities, if you would like.
In warm weather, “volets” (shutters) are used in Provence on the doors and windows help keep rooms cool; we also have air conditioning in the living and dining areas, plus in the bedrooms. The terrace has a large shade so it is a great place to relax. In Provence it is also unusual to have a large terrace in the center of town.
We have two large air conditioned bedrooms, each equipped with its own very classy and modern Italian tiled bathroom. Each bathroom has a large, comfortable shower (no tiny French shower enclosures here) and a hair dryer is supplied. Beds are 140 cm ( 56“.) An additional powder room is next to the kitchen.
A laundry room has a clothes washer. The well-equipped kitchen is close to the terrace, providing easy access for outdoor meals. We restored the condo with the highest quality, and are proud to offer it to you. When you reserve our condo, we will send you a list of shops in the area, and a list of the best restaurants, prepared by our friend, food critic and teacher (and part-time local resident,) Patricia Wells.
Our rental fees vary by season, and are all inclusive, unlike most other French rentals. We do not charge any additional fees for bed or bath linens, for wifi, or housekeeping.
The condo is entirely non-smoking, and it is not appropriate for children.
Please ask if you would like additional photos.

This apartment is lovely, the entire experience from arrival to departure was warm and comfortable. The space is quite large, clean, newly renovated, and has all the comforts of home. The hosts provide a book that details how everything works as well as restaurant recommendations. Vaison-la-Romaine is a great location from which to explore the Provence area by car- Avignon, Arles, the Luberon hilltop towns,-don't miss Roussillon, Pont du Gard, St Remy, Les Baux are all within a day trip drive. The apartment overlooks the town's Roman ruins to the front and has a lovely outdoor space at the back. Colette and Jean-Claude were so gracious, meeting us at the parking lot, moving our luggage, making sure we were comfortable, providing some basics to get us started(water, butter, fruit and of course wine) and then transporting the luggage back to the car park upon departure. The car parking was close by and free, the Tuesday market in town is not to be missed, and the town itself offers plenty to do on a non-market day with many wonderful restaurants. Of course if you want to prepare a meal with your market treasures the kitchen is well stocked with pans. We highly recommend this apartment. Having stayed at other vacation apartments during our trip, Colette and Jean Claude were by far the most gracious hosts and provide a wonderful rental experience.
We have rented this apartment twice now and it remains the nicest vacation rental we have experienced in our many years travelling in France. Vaison La Romaine is a wonderfully historic and lively town and the apartment's location could not be better -- a short walk to the main square yet quietly located on a pedestrian street overlooking the awe-inspiring Roman ruins. The apartment is spacious, bright and clean and it is very well appointed and equipped. The large flower-filled terrace is a wonderful place to relax or dine. Everything is conveniently located on one level. But the best thing about this rental is the hosts. Jean -Claude and Colette are lovely people who genuinely enjoy meeting people from other countries. Their joie de vivre is infectious!
Put simply, 4 nights was just not enough time here!!!! We can not thank Colette and Jean-Claude enough for their gracious and warm welcome and their assistance during our stay in their delightful apartment. The apartment is one of a kind - it is very spacious with large living and dining room; a modern well-equipped kitchen with separate laundry area; 2 large bedrooms with beautiful bathrooms (one thoughtfully designed for people with disabilities) ; a separate powder room and an outside terrace with two seating areas. Every room and every area were immaculate and beautifully furnished; the terrace filled with flowering plants - all thriving, Jean-Claude has a very green thumb to say the least! There is a lift to the apartment which was marvellous as we had quite a bit of luggage (we had lots of laughs with Colette and Jean-Claude about that in our broken French!!) and the building is extremely secure. It is located right opposite the Roman ruins in Vaison and the view from the apartment is stunning, absolutely stunning! All this a very short few minutes walk into the heart of Vaison which is a very pretty and lively town with an abundance of shops and restaurants, perfectly located for day trips into the lovely surrounding 'wine villages'. In short, this is a wonderful apartment in a great location with delightful hosts - we would stay here again in a heart-beat and highly recommend it as the best rental experience we had during our 3 months in France.
Can I return immediately? We loved staying in Colette and Jean-Claude's apartment. The location is tremendous, in the thick of things in Vaison, yet extremely quiet and with a million dollar view over the Roman ruins. Vaison-la-Romaine is a terrific town, with enough shops, restaurants and liveliness to make things vibrant, yet at the same time a small town feel.
The apartment is enormous, with good quality traditional furnishings, extremely clean and well kept up. Comfortable beds, nice kitchen, beautiful bathrooms, and a lovely terrace for enjoying meals on in good weather.
The owners are like the French grandparents you never knew you had. Their English is very limited, so it helps to speak at least some French. Written communication wasn't an issue at all.
Already planning to return!
I would like to thank our wonderful hosts Colette and Jean-Claude for hosting us in their excellent luxery apartment during our stay in Provence. They made us feel very welcomed and definitely added to our holiday experience. Their spacous apartment was also superb. Perfectly located in Vaison, overlooking the Roman runes, it offered every convienence to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. During the hot spell we had, the air conditioning was a blessing. If (when) we return to Vaison, I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to any traveler!
PS Vaison is also a wonderful place to visit and has so much history, culture, outdoor pursuits, shopping, wine/vineyard and dinning exeriences.
This was a beautiful apartment - probably the most comfortable I have ever rented. Vaison-La-Romaine is a great base for exploring the area and a lovely town to stay in. The Tuesday market is amazing, the view of the Roman ruins right in front of you is mind-boggling, and the owners, Colette and Jean-Claude, are very gracious and charming hosts. I can't think of any negatives and would love to return some day. I would definitely recommend this rental highly to any of my friends who might be travelling here.
