This home was built by Paul for his family and he blended several architectural styles during its construction. Hydronic heat in colored concrete keeps feet cozy. The three bedrooms and two baths are each unique in shape and finishes. Two of the bedrooms have easy first-floor access and the third-floor hexagon-shaped Crow's Nest features a vaulted redwood ceiling and outstanding views of the surrounding area. The compact highly functional kitchen has custom Jatoba cabinets with granite and hardwood counters. All the amenities you'd expect in a quality home along with a few surprises! Reviews posted on site of original agency listing are unfortunately no longer available as I'm now listing it privately.
Paul is a local builder as well as a seasonal wildland firefighter for the State and came to Homer in the 90's after a career in California where he was also a builder and firefighter. Paul also has a woodworking business called Homer Woods, an internet venture featuring highly crafted home furnishings. www.homerwoodsak.com
His daughter Irene is a recent high school graduate who still calls this home hers. His other two children are off in the world learning trades.
Paul Pellegrini purchased this house in 1996
After hitchhiking through Alaska on two fishing trips Paul found all he hoped for in the Homer area. After an extensive search for land with outstanding views, good neighbors, and easy access to outdoor and cultural opportunities, Paul found this property and built his home. Situated on the Kenai Peninsula, known as Alaska's playground, the site boasts exceptional views of the Kachemak Bay and glacier covered mountains.
Located on a very quiet cul-de-sac, Goodnight Irene is far enough from town to lose the noise and lights but close enough to enjoy all the benefits of a vibrant community. The acreage and surrounding properties are large enough to allow the wildlife free rein. You often see moose, eagles, owls, hawks and other wildlife indigenous to the area.
Paul was friendly and available for questions but other than where to put garbage we didnt have any. We really enjoyed the view and the bbq area.
The home is outside the city of Homer that was easy to find and a simple drive. The house was clean, cozy and has been uniquely crafted to feel like a cabin. The view from the home is breath taking and worth every penny.
Homer is a famous destination well known for its charter fishing opportunities, museums, and eco-tourism including kayaking and wilderness and day hikes.
