Walk one block to the pristine Lake Michigan beach and live in Kid's Corner Park with a view of the lake from almost every room. This 1885 home has been renovated from top to bottom in a Victorian Beach decor.
The first floor has an enclosed front porch that provides a great place to relax and enjoy the summer. It has a living room with a 42in flat screen TV, a double mantle antique fireplace, a pull-out sofa for additional sleeping for two, and a relaxing view of the park and Lake Michigan. It also has a dining room, galley kitchen and laundry room. Finally, there are two bedrooms, a master and smaller bedroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed and bathroom with double sinks and walk-in shower. The smaller bedroom has twin beds. There is also a full bathroom with double pedestal sinks, separate shower and large claw foot tub.
The upstairs has a family room with a vaulted ceiling that has sleeping room for two, a 42in flat screen TV, antique oak and brass bar, and extra refrigerator for keeping drinks cold. It also has a balcony with a patio table and chairs that oversees the park and Lake Michigan. The other two bedrooms upstairs sleep four, one with twin beds, the other with a queen bed. A center hall bathroom has a single sink and claw foot shower/tub.
The Cottage in Kid's Corner location is perfect for families who want easy access to the Park's playground, ball field and picnic area, plus public beach access immediately across the street.
The first time we came to South Haven we fell in love with it. It's located at the mouth of the Black River with the most majestic view of the harbor. The south side is more spacious and quaint.
You are surrounded by a park and it's like being in a living picture. You see kids playing, people picnicking, family gatherings, and beautiful Lake Michigan.
We had a great week in this awesome cottage. We had kids and grandkids coming and going on different days that week. We had plenty of room for everyone. Of course my husband and I claimed the downstairs master bedroom, which by the way is a beautiful room with attached bath. We loved the outdoor private grilling patio and spent a lot of time there. Great for early morning coffee in your pj's. All of the rooms are large and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was large and well supplied. Only thing I was missing was a couple of large skillets. It takes a lot of eggs to make scrambled eggs for a big crowd. I got by using 3 smaller skillets. The older grandkids loved the upstairs bar room and spent a lot of time there. The beach supplies on the front porch were plentiful and provided many hours of enjoyment for everyone. There were even fresh flowers waiting for us.
We highly recommend this property to everyone. We hope to return next year.
We went in the fall initially to check out the property, location, & beach before committing to rent for a week. That was 4 years ago. It is the most incredible place to have a family vacation. The location is ideal. It is walking distance to downtown, next door to a park, a block from the beach and 5 blocks from the lighthouse. There is plenty of space to sleep but it also has a bistro area with a grill, a table and chairs in the front yard, and a screened in front porch. Every year we come, the owners have updated or added to the house. The kitchen has any small appliance you can think of, plenty of counter space and counter chairs for added dining space. The dining room table is huge with a high chair for a little one. The beach is incredibly clean and sandy...no small rocks or pebbles and only about 25 steps to get down to the water. The owner is always available if a question arises and always helpful.
We were here August 2015 and had the best time ever.
We stayed at the Cottage in Kids Corner with our children and their families last June. The location was ideal for our 8 adults and 4 toddlers. With the park literally in the back yard, and the beach across the street, it was easy for our grown children to take the little ones out for short periods of time between naps and meals. Downtown shops and restaurants were also just a short walk or quick bike ride away. The house was well suited for our four families to spread out, and the owners a pleasure to work with.
Our family chose this cottage mainly because of the location, and it was a great choice. Kid's Corner was right outside our door, and the lake was just a short walk from there. The owners have thought of everything. A beautiful master bedroom with master bath on the first floor, and upstairs a pirate room for the kids loaded with toys. There was plenty of room for all twelve of us, and the bedding and towels were all high quality. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals. The bonus was the wagon to take to the beach with plenty of chairs for all of us, as well as a large bag full of beach toys. There was even a stroller and high chair for the baby. This cottage is a great choice for families! It was well furnished for our group of grandparents, children, and grandchildren. The owners were very easy to work with, too. All in all it was a great vacation.
This place was perfect for us, our children, their spouses & our young grandchildren. It felt like home, with plenty of room for all of us. We had great meals together around the large dining room table and the little ones loved being so close to the playground. Being a block from the beach was wonderful and having the use of the beach chairs, wagon & beach toys was a real bonus. We also loved being able to walk to the little downtown area and the pier. This was the first time we have had a vacation together since my kids left home and I'm so glad this is where we gathered. My only complaint is that the week went to fast.
My brother and his extended family and me with mine spent the week before Labor Day at this lovely home. The owners have obviously gone to great length to bring this historic home up to modern standards while outfitting it with quality items across the spectrum. From beds to furnishings, this place is first-rate. The location on the edge of the park one block from Lake Michigan is simply great (unless you dislike the sound of children playing and laughing). We had a great time! We love South Haven. If you love South Haven and want to be near the south beach water, this is well worth consideration! Still a reasonable walk to town, but in a great locale! Super week!
