My husband is an avid hunter and this property is perfect for him. I wanted our getaway place to be more than a 'hunting cabin'. Located within an easy drive of wineries, rail and hiking trails, lakes and parks, the historic towns of Wellsboro and Corning, not to mention the antiquing and restaurants...makes it a perfect place for me too!
Great place to stretch out with the family...large open spaces to be together. The getting away from it all and being together is by far the greatest benefit.
My husband and I, along with my sister and her husband, spent a weekend here in March after a snowstorm with 5 of our combined grandchildren. We had a grand time sledding and playing games, and enjoying our grands. Everything we needed was provided - a clean home, paper supplies, linens and towels, kitchen supplies, lots of dvd's, pool table, comfy couches for curling up on, and even sleds! We did not hike because of the weather and age of grandchildren, but there is a whole mountain to check out here. Although it had snowed, the lane/drive was plowed open, so we had no problem driving to the cabin. If you are looking for a quiet place, away from the bustle of everyday life, this is the best place to go to relax; the peace and quiet is wonderful; the windows draw you to keep looking for wildlife. I definately would recommend this cabin to which we will return!
Fallview Cabin was perfect for a girls' getaway weekend! We loved the instant-on gas fireplace, the cozy bedrooms, and even the quirky gas stove. The luxurious bathtub got heavy use, too!
It was a very relaxing long weekend, not far from restaurants and museums in Corning. But we mostly stayed in - because the cabin had everything we needed for fun! Loved the pool table in particular.
We hope to come back another year!
We just returned from a wonderful girls getaway at this secluded cabin in such a beautiful setting! The cabin was clean, cozy, and felt like home! We used the fire ring (bring camp chairs) and enjoyed star gazing. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked, and we enjoyed cooking on the funky stove! Used a crock pot for several meals. Loved the décor of the cabin. There could be more dresser space/hanging space for clothes in the bedrooms, but that's a minor issue compared to how much we loved this property. You really have a lot of privacy, and everything was very well kept. The caretaker was so kind and friendly, we enjoyed knowing she was close by if we had any problems, which we didn't! Everything went smoothly, and the owner was a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get away, and there is plenty to do in the area--we have to come back again, because we didn't get to do it all in on stay!
My family and I recently stayed at the Fallview Cabin for my sister's wedding in Addison, NY. The home is set on a beautiful piece of property with a gorgeous view. The great room was very large where we could all watch movies, prepare meals and enjoy being together without all of the devices that consume our daily lives. It was so nice to see the kids unplug and enjoy nature. We explored the property and saw several deer, bunnies and birds. My youngest nephew stated that he never wanted to leave.
The home as I said was very spacious and accommodated 8 people easily with room to spare. The kitchen was well appointed and had all you need to prepare meals. The bedrooms were all good sized and clean as well as the bathrooms. There is a fun game room on the lower level which has a pool table that we enjoyed.
The owner Cheryl was very sweet and you can see the pride she takes in her beautiful home. We hope to one day return for a longer stay where we can enjoy the beauty of the area. Thank you again Cheryl for your hospitality!!
The Good: Overall, my friends and I truly enjoyed our stay at Fallview Cabin. We picked this site for our yearly guys' getaway and upon arriving we were not disappointed. The cabin was very peaceful, had ample room for each of us with plenty of furniture, was stocked with a number of additional supplies (condiments, spices, coffee, etc.), and had a great rural atmosphere that was enjoyed by all. The on-site caretaker was also very pleasant and helpful to us, a statement I stand by even considering the below.
As to the area that the cabin is in, my friends and I visited a number of the nearby NY wineries which very good, and we also made our way to Wellsboro a few times which was in the midst of its winter festival. Neither of these diversions were particularly close, but if you're thinking about staying in Tioga then driving a ways to get somewhere is unlikely to be an issue for you.
Oh, it's also worth mentioning the billiards table; we played a number of games and the table was of a surprisingly high quality.
The Bad: The one major drawback to Fallview Cabin that bears mentioning is that if you are offended, or simply unnerved, by taxidermied animals, then this cabin is no way the place for you to stay as there are hunting trophies scattered throughout the residence. This wasn't an issue for me or any of my friends, but I definitely know a few people that would have had their stay ruined by similar circumstances.
The Ugly: Unfortunately, our great stay was ruined by the fact that a few minutes after returning home I received a call from the owner of the property claiming that feces had been left within the main main floor bathroom, specifically on the toilet, in the shower and in the tub. I had no idea what she was talking about, was very confused, and honestly had no idea what to say in response to the claim as it was the first time that I or my friends have ever been accused of leaving and/or smearing bodily waste within a bathroom. As a result of this alleged damage, I was charged half of the security deposit, all alongside the fact that I never received any proof that these damages ever existed or an invoice proving that the money from the deposit was even used for additional cleaning services. Unfortunately, this event means we will never be staying here again, but if you'd like to take the risk I'd suggest taking numerous pictures and videos before leaving in order to protect yourself from similar falsehoods by the owner.
I selected this beautiful home for our New Years get away with 3 other couples. This log home is in the mountains, cosy rustic, and was a perfect setting for outdoor fun. We enjoyed archery tournaments (we brought our own), the fire pit, hikes in the woods and the pool table was a hit with the group. The scenery was beautiful as the snow fell and the sound of the neighboring brook was soothing. It was nice to have a bathroom and bedrooms on each level. The owner provided a grill with propane, fire wood and chairs for the fire and a few jugs of H20. I would also bring some additional bottled water. We prepared crock pot dinners as the owner expressed that the oven for the home was a microwave/convection oven. Since I did not have any experience with this type of cooking we just made alternative food choices. The home has thermostat heat and a gas fireplace. We pretty much used only the fireplace and the home stayed toasty warm. The place was nice and clean and we would definitely rent again. You will adore this home if you are looking for a treasure in the woods and to get back to nature!
