We are local folks who grew up in Western NY. We have enjoyed millions of sunsets and each time it's still awesome!
Richard Ries purchased this house in 2014
The Cottage is much more charming in real life. My Sisters and I met at the Cottage in Wilson, NY for a Sisters only weekend. We loved the view of the Lake which is right out the back door. There is a lovely deck with seating to enjoy a meal with a gorgeous view of the lake! The kitchen was well equipped and we were comfortable sharing meal prep together. We all slept well and were happy to have had 2 full bathrooms. It took us about 35 minutes to go see Niagara Falls in Niagara NY. But, we absolutely loved the small town of Lewiston, NY. Lewiston has wonderful restaurants and quaint shops of which we enjoyed! It was only about 20 minutes away. We would be happy to plan another Sisters weekend at the Cottage!
The house is remodeled and nicely done. Really no major complaints. The only issue would be the bed in the master bedroom. The mattress was harder than we prefer. A King bed would be a nice upgrade.
My stay at the Ries' cottage was awesome! It was very clean and everything was there we needed. The porch with awning was very comfortable. Of course, being on the water, watching sunsets, bonfires and starry nights with friends and family, and making s'mores with my grandkids - priceless!
We recently stayed at the house and the looks are very deceiving, the home is much larger than the photos make it appear, the kitchen had everything I needed there was more than enough seating the few days that we had some showers. We could all sit and enjoy spending time together inside. The property is very well maintained and any questions that I had for Richard or his wife during our stay I would send a message and he responded instantly I would highly recommend this place for families or a friend get-away. ...It is definitely on our to-do list again!!!!!!
We spent a few very restful days at The Lakehouse. It was during some very warm days in the region and having AC was a comfort but because of the many large windows there was no feeling of being shut in. The home is so well equipped, it was like home away from home. We love being near the water so it was a perfect fit. The owners are especially welcoming and anxious to please. Besides Niagara Falls , there are several quaint and historic Villages nearby that are well worth a visit.
We stayed here for 2 nights. Very calm and beautiful location opening up to the Ontario lake at the back yard. Kids loved the location. The house was well arranged and very comfortable. We felt right at home. Thanks to the owners for being so accommodative and flexible.
One suggestion to future visitors would be close the doors at dusk otherwise it might invite some bugs at night.
Groceries were available in a 2 mile drive. We all enjoyed the stay and wanted to stay longer. My kids loved the kites at the home, thanks for that. We will definitely come back on our next trip to Niagara.
We are located within 30 minutes of one of the 7 wonders of the world, Niagara Falls, USA. You can ride the Maid of the Mist right up to the base of the Falls and go to the Cave of the Winds to walk under the Falls. Historic Lewiston has activities all summer long including ArtPark's Tuesday and Wednesday night concerts, Jazz Festivals, Art festivals, Harvest and Peach Festivals to name just a few! Visit Fort Niagara and spend the day with frequent events all year long. Take an adventurous ride up the Niagara River on the Niagara Jet Adventures or Jet Boat Tours. Western New York has countless Wineries and there is always shopping at the Fashion Outlets with over 200 stores. There's something to do for everyone in your family OR just kick back and enjoy the peace and quiet of our property and have a bonfire and watch the gorgeous sunsets!
