My wife and I took a little weekend get-away, her end of tax season and Mother's day. For me it was a chance to catch up with an old friend from FSU that I hadn't seen in 30+ years, he lives in Jax but he was in town to play a gig with his band. We are experienced boaters and several things on this boat (lights, stove, head, etc...) were identical to what was on our old 35' Viking so it was very easy to get use to. With just the 2 of us there was plenty of space. We really enjoyed sitting out on the "back porch" both upstairs and downstairs. The marina was great, food and drink at the restaurant was OK, service was very good. Pool looked great but we were too busy to dip in. Being the weekend there were lots of people on the other boats, no issue at all with any noise, very quiet actually (being at almost the end of the dock was great). The other boaters were live aboards and weekend live aboards, very friendly with hello/how you doing/goodbye etc... We arrived Friday and were instantly invited to a fish fry with fresh mahi and tuna caught the day before, great food/people/party E dock! Thanks to Todd for showing us where everything was and making our stay great! Would do it again in a heartbeat and will definitely stay there again when in town.
My husband and I wanted a different vacation, and decided to stay on Lady
Xanadu. It was located at a picturesque marina, at the end of a dock, which over overlooked the mangroves. Todd met us and gave us a tour of the boat, and taught us how to "live" on a boat, moored at the dock. (HA.) We learned all the ship vocabulary, such as aft, stern, and bow, etc. It was roomy and efficient. The woodwork and furniture were classy and traditional. The sun shone every day, and the boat was bright and peaceful. People in the vicinity were friendly and welcoming.
There was a lot of wildlife to watch, which I enjoyed. We saw cormorants, pelicans, gators, and hawks. It was peaceful and quiet at night, with a beautiful view of the stars, in a quiet setting. The bed was comfortable, and sleeping was easy, even though I had never slept on a boat before. Todd and Libby gave us a fruit basket, cheese and crackers, and that became our breakfast each morning. In addition there was also coffee available, so we bought just basic groceries, such as milk, dessert, and beer . It was a very unique vacation, and the location was accessible to Kennedy Space Center (Recommend the 2 hr. bus ride), Cocoa Beach, Historic Cocoa Village (great restaurants), and Ron Jons which is always fun. We ate every meal on the water, which is just the way we like it. Many of our friends were excited to see our pictures. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed our stay on the Lady Xanadu. If you are a boating family (as we are) you will enjoy the experience of Marina Life without traveling with your vessel to Florida's Space Coast. The Lady Xanadu is a well kept 70's era 46' Pacemaker nestled in with a wide selection of other large yachts at the far end of Harbortown Marina. The folks at the marina were all cordial and there is a bar and grill on property (average fare and convenient). The owners of the vessel resided locally and very pleasurable to talk with. They seemed genuinely committed to providing us with a positive vacation experience. We recommend the Lady Xanadu as a wonderful vacation destination.
