Your experience at Casa Carolina's (5,000 sq. ft.) will be a one of a kind. Secluded on Mexican Riviera... Imagine: Beach front with great surf, infinity pool 9 ft deep with a waterfall you can jump off of, gourmet kitchen,Yoga Deck (four levels up) . You are only 1 mile or a 5 minute drive to Troncones should you want to dine or shop for groceries.
There is a beautiful sandy beach out front defined by two rocky points on either side. The beach is great for surfing, swimming, watching turtles hatch and wobble their way back to the ocean. The points are great for fishing and lobster catching.
SURFING on this beach will be one of the highlights of your trip, even for those who don't surf because they can watch you at close range in the infinity pool, sipping a special drink at the bar or on the yoga deck. If you are surfing straight out front on the left break you will be able to see facial expressions and hear the hoots and hollering. You will get great surf photos. The line up is all sand bottom. To the right of the house is a peeling hallow right. This area picks up swell from any direction. And remember it's only you and yours out there!
Casa Carolina now has air conditioning, satellite internet and cell phone service, although we are miles away from everybody.
You start this unforgettable adventure when you arrive at the small fishing village of Troncones with great restaurants both local ($2. per person) and resort type. Plenty of happy hours and all types of food. A new road and a bridge have been built to get to the our property
the property is beach/ranch style being set exclusively by it's self with private beach and plenty of ranch land behind the villa complete with donkey and horse.....
When you enter through the wall of the villa you will see the ocean through the bottom floor. This level is surrounded by a garden complete with fruit trees. It has a beach view bar, hammocks, pingpong table, surf racks and a full bathroom complete with 2 sinks and inside/outside shower. Near the bathroom area we have two hanging beds (double) This is our open-air bedroom. There is also a half bath near by. Down on the beach under the palapa is one more double bed to be used daytime or many choose to use this at night as well.
You will walk up the steps to the second level which is all wood flooring. This level has the infinity pool, large palapa, built in concrete couch with comfy cushions, a dining table (seating 10+), and a gourmet kitchen complete with restaurant stove with counter and stools.
As you proceed to the 3rd level you enter onto a lanai which takes you to the first bedroom with a queen and bunks (sleeps 4) You can walk through this room to the back lanai where you enter the bathroom. On the other side of the bathroom from the lanai you can enter the next bedroom also with a queen and bunks or you can continue on to the great room, (2 Queens & 2 top beds). We call this the great room because it is 1,000 sq. ft. complete with 42'' flat screen HD TV, sound system and Bali-type beds set up with bolsters and cushions for maximum comfort while relaxing, reading, watching TV, listening to music or just zoning out on the sunset over the ocean or the sunrise over the mountains. There is a lanai on both sides of this 3rd level. All the rooms have french doors to help maintain the beautiful views and curtains for your privacy. Past the great room is the master bedroom still connected to the long lanai but also with a private porch with rocking chair. This room has a king bed and leads into a large bathroom complete with 2 sinks, desk , large shelves with some hanging. You step out of the shower into the dressing area.
All showers are inlaid with smooth stones creating various ocean creatures such as crabs, starfish, seahorses, etc. The water in the showers flow from tree trunks and all bathrooms have 2 sinks with hot and cold water. Sinks are all different and hand painted. All mattresses are of the highest quality with 100% Egyptian cotton sheets. For mosquito season we have netting for all beds, if desired. Unlike most places in Mexico you can actually flush your toilet paper down the toilet as opposed to putting it in the waste basket. This villa is brand new and has the best and most updated conveniences.
The fourth level is the yoga deck complete with a large very accurate compass hand laid with smooth beach pebbles. The view from this level is magnificent . There is no railing so you have that free feeling you get when on top of a mountain looking down at the top of trees.
Casa Carolina is 5,000 sq ft. perfect for weddings, workshops, retreats, surfing , ecotourism, swimming, jungle tours, quad riding, horseback riding, fishing, artists, writers, teachers, beach combers, nature lovers, bird watching and any one who wants real rest and relaxation.
There is a small Casita at the entrance of the front gate. This is where the manager Jesus, lives. Jesus is bilingual. He can answer just about any question you might have. He also gives tours and can arrange for an on sight massage or yoga instructor for private or group lessons. When entering Troncones on your Left is a surf shop where you can arrange for surf lessons.
Jesus's wife Veronica will be your daily housekeeper and cook, she cooks any kind of Mexican food always with home made tortillas. ($50 pesos per person plus cost of food...small kids eat free) I suggest her lobster!!!!
We are the McCabe family from Ventura Ca. Starting from left meet John (surfer)Resides in Costa Rica, Carolyn, she is the Villa's namesake, Mike (pro surfer, rides for Fox) Matt (Mike's twin) also a pro surfer, riding for Volcom.
Carolyn McCabe purchased this villa in 2011
We have been traveling every summer since the twins were around 8. We rent our Ventura beach home out to cover expenses (VRBO 337485) Then we started hitting the globe looking for the perfect wave: Hawaii, Australia, Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica and Bali. Three years ago we came to Troncones. We picked this spot because it had yoga for Carolyn and the Ranch for the 3 boys who short board and like very challenging waves. Needless to say the whole family fell in love with the place especially when they found the secluded Playa Verde and it's unbelievable surf not to mention the surrounding open mountains and pristine unknown beaches. It took over a year to build our dream house. We want everybody to experience what we have experienced. We stand alone, at least for now, on a private/unknown surf beach. It is really quite incredible.
There are straight flights to Ixtapa from LAX which are fast and inexpensive. Driving to Troncones (20min.) then Playa Verde (5 min). The road is good the whole way.
Fishing right out front, cave exploring, horseback riding, hammock snoozing, walking the beach, walking toward the hills to the cows, swimming in the pool, yoga on top of the world. Veronica's cooking, fresh lobster from the point, Troncones restaurants, sleeping listening to the waves breaking, cooking in the open kitchen, bird watching, surfing, hiking, horseback riding, ping pong, poker, scrabble and riding into town on the dirt road. Great for mountain biking or you can rent quads.....or take off on foot.
We had 5 families (10 adults & 11 kids) at Casa Carolina and had a blast. It really does feel like a private bay. Jesus & Veronica are on site and were great. They took care of our shopping, food prep & clean-up, and were there to help out in any way. A big thanks to them! It was like a private all-inclusive.
The house has 4 enclosed bedrooms with one being the "great room" with two doubles and two top bunks. Those 4 rooms have AC which we appreciated. The "hanging beds" didn't work for us. They are outside in the entrance area in front of the parked cars. But it wasn't a big deal. We just moved one of those queen mattresses into the great room and 2 families shared that space (lots of space in there).
The pool is unbelievable...but you can see that in the pictures. The kids loved the rock diving board. The beach out front is perfect for kids to boogie board. All sand. The direction of the swell didn't line up for great surf for the adults (all close-outs), but you can see with the proper swell directions, there would be a longer running left or a more defined right. We still had fun catching some quick ones out there though in between trips out to the main breaks in the area.
The village of Troncones is a quick drive away (mostly dirt road) and has lots to offer for restaurants (often with live music), treats (ice cream & shaved ice), and groceries/supplies.
Here's a quick video of our trip which gives a good view of the house & bay. It is definitely a one-of-a-kind place! We loved it.
There were 17 of us staying over Christmas and New Years......The house was so beautiful and the setting magnificent!!! Jesus and Veronica and are so kind and warm and welcoming. Veronica is an awesome cook!!!
We would come back in a heartbeat!!
8 of us stayed at Casa Carolina for a week and it was a wonderful experience. The house is great, you have your own private beach, and the pool is huge. The house is very secluded and the town is small but full of friendly people and great restaurants. Jesus and Veronica are extremely kind and helpful and will make your stay a great time.
We loved Troncones and the local flavor of the town. We were two families with kids aged 6, 11 & 13 & 14 and stayed over Spring break. The town has a great vibe, not overflowing with tourists. The surfing was ok, think the waves were a bit big for our kids.. heard the waves were bigger than usual. We enjoyed fishing with Antonio and all the kids caught something. We had an amazing lunch at Martha’s where she cooked up our SkipJack. We hiked almost daily behind the house and LOVE that view! The guys tried some fishing down at the rocks below the hike after seeing how popular it was with the locals. We had a great breakfast at Cafe Pacifico and super fun night at Robertos for turtle watching, dinner and dancing with the kids! The highlight, of course was Veronica’s delicious meals. She made a great range of classics that allowed our kids to sample authentic Mexican cuisine. Of course, having Jesus with his perfect english was a huge part of our stay. He even helped arrange a fun local birthday for my son with a pinanta and locally made caramel flan. Casa Carolina is such a beautiful home. It is obvious that Carolyn thought of every details when she designed it. We especially loved the open air design, amazing pool and the yoga deck! The kids spent countless hours playing in the SPECTACULAR pool and we just really didn't want to leave. The beautiful sunsets became ritual as we toasted each beautiful day. Thank you Carolyn for sharing your beautiful home, we hope to return soon.
We really enjoyed the house, the pool was very nice and the view was incredible!!!! Jesus (the house keeper) brought us lobster that we grilled in the open air kitchen, beaches were beautiful, warm waters, nothing more to ask for!!!!
We stayed in Casa Carolina for 8 days during the end of year holidays in 2012. two families with a total of 5 kids ranging in ages from 17 to 10.
Our stay exceed all expectations. If you are looking for secluded, yet comfortable this is the place. House is about a 10 minute drive on dirt road from Troncones, far away to have complete privacy yet close enough to go out and get any of the basics or even dinner.
Our plan was mostly about enjoying the privacy and cooking most of our meals. The kitchen and the equipment is superb. The house has most of the basic condiments required.
The beach is absotely spectacular and an easy 1 minute walk down from the house. Shell hunting, swimming or just relaxing were all on the daily routine. Back in the house the pool and deck area are great, although maybe a couple more sunchairs are needed.
The rooms met all of our expectations. with comfortable beds, netting and well appointed bathrooms.
We took our dog on the vacation and it had a blast. House is fenced and security is fine.
As the owner lists, the house is off the grid so all electricity is self generated. This forced some welcome discipline on our normal behavior around electricity use.
Finally, Jesus and Veronica, the caretakers were very helpful, providing advice and making sure that housekeeping was up to par.
We will surely be coming back to Casa Carolina in the future
watching baby turtles hatch and crawl to the ocean, catching lobster on the point out front, absolutely private surfing beach, horseback riding on beach or mountains, bird watching as the top deck is four levels high and the infinity pool attracts all kinds of thirsty birds
