This architecturally unique cottage is on Sturgeon Bay Drive, two miles north of Cross Village. It is directly on Lake Michigan. The beach is private and sandy. The cottage boasts large windows upstairs and down, providing constant, intimate contact with the Lake.
The upstairs houses the newest two bedrooms (the white wooden Queen Bed and another has a 3 person Bunk Bed), a washer and dryer and a shower bathroom. The downstairs is where you'll find a full kitchen, eating area and living room, bedroom (Full Bed) and shower bathroom.
The UpNorth attractions are 30 minutes away in either Mackinaw or Harbor Springs. If you desire golf, shopping, movie theaters, kid's roadside attractions, or fine/casual dining, it's all there. All-The-Fudge-You-Can-Eat.
Our bet is that you will want to mostly stay right here.
Hike, ride a bike, kayak, boardsail, comb the beach. Climb the huge sand dune 150 yards to the south (you saw it when you came down the road). Or walk a 1/4 mile north on the road and as you first go downhill (at the bottom of the hill) peer into the woods on your right and see an old logging trail to walk.
Our family has outlawed TV in this place. But we could not give up the internet. The streaming internet content over DSL (with your laptop and our wireless router) gets you quite a bit of entertainment. But our rule: no screen time until after dark. Go OUTSIDE!
The ever shifting sand creates numerous sand bars, providing shallow, gradual depth to the water. Most summers an adult needs to go out 50-75 yards before the water is over their head.
Perfect water experience for kids. Perfect place to plant yourself, with your favorite beverage. Or take a stroll, looking for unique stones. The beach is not a crowded one. Early morning runs and walks are tranquil. On dead still mornings the loons can wake you. On other days the crashing waves are the first thing you hear and the play time in them are a blast.
The beach is not conducive to docks, so powered, noisy watercraft are rare. However you can launch watercraft in Cross Village.

We come back to this place every Summer and Fall. This past year, I have been back more frequently as I work toward upgrading this cottage for your use and ours. The purpose of renting this cottage is sustainability. Our desire is to share it and grow it. We are interested in forming relationships with people that may want to use it multiple years in a row. But that certainly does not need to be your interest. If you are interested in a clean, modest cottage at a fair price I gotcha covered.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 1965
This is a long standing family cottage. I grew up here most summers since I was six! Although the subdivision has populated over the years, it has not lost its connection with nature. My family forged a bond with this place and now my kids have too. I suppose it will be in our family forever. Or my child's version of forever anyway! We intend on modernizing this charmer year after year (see downstairs bathroom most recently) and adding more amenities.
A drink or a meal at Legs Inn in Cross Village is an attraction for many (I grew up in that bar!)
Crow's Nest is another eatery 1.5 miles south of Cross Village (out State Road).
The 'Tunnel of Trees' is what they have named the 20 mile stretch of Lakeshore from Cross Village to Harbor Springs and is very scenic. But take State Road to Harbor if you need faster travel.
We had a wonderful vacation(4 adults-4 kids -6,7,9,11, and a baby) at this lovely cottage, nestled between the trees on beautiful Lake Michigan. The cottage was tastefully decorated, immaculate and offered us spectacular lake views from every room. From a well-equipped kitchen to bath towels/beach towels, washer and dryer all our needs were met. The owners were a pleasure to work with, they patiently answered all our questions and made the renting process very easy.
We spent most of our days just relaxing on the the beach, swimming, building sand castles, hunting for rocks, and kayaking. With 4 kids and a baby we loved that the beach was just a short walk from the cottage so it made toting all our beach stuff very easy!! At night we marveled at the glorious sunsets, gazed at the breath-taking heavens and roasted marshmallows around the firepit. And one night we were gifted with a thrilling view of the Northern Lights. My grandchildren loved catching the frogs in the tiny pond in the front yard. It kept them busy while we were relaxing on the the spacious deck and just enjoying all the peace and serenity that this vacation spot has to offer.
We biked a bit of the Traverse Wheelway, visited a nearby fish hatchery, and my daughter and son-in-law trekked up to Pictured Rocks a mere 2-3 hours away. We drove to Mackinaw City and stocked up on fudge and ate whitefish at Darrow’s, a family- friendly restaurant that we highly recommend.
We love, love this vacation cottage and hope to come back next year. Oh, and we found 3 Petoskey stones! Thank-you Robert and Shari!
This cottage was the perfect size for my family. It had everything we needed, two bathrooms, washer and dryer, etc. We loved the very short walk to the beach (definitely needed our water shoes though). The view from the cottage is amazing, I became addicted to the sunsets that we witnessed every night. The cottage was very clean and tidy. The owners supply you with all of the kitchen essentials for cooking and there was a nice gas grill. The cottage location is a bit of a drive from Petoskey (groceries), but we loved the area and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Mackinaw city was about 25 minutes away and that was a pretty drive. Cross Village is a quaint little spot and Legs Inn was a great restaurant with an exceptional view of Lake Michigan. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone, families, couples, etc.
The cottage exceeded our expectations! It was everything the owner's promised and so much more! The water was crystal clear and the sunset was stunning! The woods outside the cottage was a fun place to explore and the dunes was a great hike to take so we could enjoy the view as well as a really cool sunset!
My youngest son spent hours catching and releasing wildlife (various bugs, frogs, dragon flies, and grasshoppers). My husband enjoyed relaxing on deck while watching a bald eagle fly overhead and my oldest son saw he first shooting star! So many unforgettable memories made!
Our first couple days there was little wind so the water was calm with no waves which was great...but then the wind came...and so did wave jumping and kite flying which we all loved!
The family time was great, getting used to no cell service for 7 days was hard but we loved it!
The traditions seen throughout the cottage such as rock painting was unique and fun! We added our own to the collection!
Thank you for opening your home up to us! It was a wonderful 5 star experience!
This was our second visit to Jerono's Arrowhead because we absolutely love the location, quietness and beauty! The house was very clean, had everything we needed in the kitchen and one bedroom featured a new bunk bed (sleeps 3) which my kids loved and said was very comfortable! We took advantage of all the games and puzzles in the closet when we weren't out swimming. The surrounding area is beautiful with the beach only steps away. We all enjoyed the new paddle boards in addition to the kayaks. It was a great week to wind down and spend time together as a family. Thank you for a great vacation home! We enjoyed every minute and hope to return again soon!
Spent a week in August 2015 with family (3 teens). What a great place. Exactly what I love. Isolated, super quiet (kind of place so peaceful that when a car drives by it's exciting....). Steps from a small sandy beach with cristal clear, shallow water, small dunes and an infinite horizon. House is well maintained, 3 great rooms, 2 nice bathrooms, huge deck. We spent the week in the sun, swimming, BBQ and reading. Great place with small kids & teens who like to read. Came home 100% relaxed & recovered
But alert: far for groceries, entertainment, so not recommended if you like dinning out, mini-golf, shopping, museums etc.
My husband and I stayed up here for a week with our close friends and had a blast! The cottage was beautiful and very clean on our arrival. A little out of the way, so we didn't have cell service (verizon or att), but the internet worked well enough to stream music on occasion. The September weather was perfect for sitting outside, watching the waves or kayaking during the day, and sitting around the fire at night. It really is a gorgeous view from the house, porch and beach. We loved the sunsets over the water, and were even lucky enough to see the Northern Lights late one evening.
The cottage was about a half hour or so away from river rafting, fishing charters, Mackinac Island, etc, but a pretty enough drive and worth feeling as if you're away from it all. We'd highly recommend staying at this property.
