Close to everything; walk 3 blocks to world famous Commanders Palace, stroll down oak and mansion lined St. Charles Ave, go antiquing on Magazine St, ride the St. Charles Streetcar down to the French Quarter or up to the Universities and Audubon Park, visit the WWII Museum, and dine at any of the myriad of restaurants that make New Orleans a foodie paradise.

This lovingly restored one bedroom, one bath apartment is perfect for a romantic getaway. Enormous pocket doors, high ceilings, and a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the porch are just a few of the architectural details to delight the eye. The beautiful new kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal, if you ever get tired of dining out. The living room is large and comfortable with satellite TV, WiFi and a convertible sofa. The bedroom has a memory foam queen size bed and a black-out roman shade for the mornings you want to sleep in. The gorgeous new bathroom is accessed through the bedroom so it is best suited for a couple or a small family. The apartment sleeps up to 3 adults. High quality linens and towels are provided.

About Corinna

We listed our first apartment on HomeAway for Mardi Gras 2012 and have been enjoying our guests ever since. We live in one of our 4 units and take delight in sharing gems of the neighborhood and the city with our guests. It has been such a pleasure to meet so many lovely people! What makes this apartment unique

Our home is an historic shotgun camelback double built in 1861. Somewhere down the line it was converted into a 4 plex so all the bedrooms are independent, unlike a traditional shotgun. Many of the architectural flourishes that make New Orleans homes so charming are still intact. We love this old house and have been slowly restoring it to its original beauty. The neighborhood is perfect for us; we are a block from the streetcar, walking distance to so much, and our neighbors are wonderful. We enjoy this property immensely and intend to live here for a very long time.

Sometimes the world is magical. This was one of those times.

My girlfriend and I had never been to New Orleans, and wanted to visit for years. We had a break in March and decided to stop saying "one day" and go. We looked at every hotel, VRBO, etc, and found nothing good in the location we wanted and price range.

Then we found a listing with photos of the renovation in progress and explanations of what the owner said the property would be. The price was right, the location good (we knew we wanted the Garden District) and we had a good feeling, so we booked.

A few weeks later, the renovation complete, Corinna emailed the photos you see here.


It was better than we expected. As you can see, Corinna and Michele lovingly restored this classic New Orleans home, keeping the appointments that complete the charm and updating with things a modern traveler would want. They did a spectacular job, and the home is comfortable and elegant and included lovely details not listed in the description. You can read of the amenities above, and I can vouch for their accuracy. But that isn't what makes this place magical.

What makes it magical is Corinna and Michele. They have put so much time and love into this home, and continued to put time and love into our stay from the moment we arrived. They were there to welcome us, tell us about the neighborhood, recommend some food (we got in at dinner time), and just generally make us feel at home. They made sure we were settled before leaving us to explore. The next day, Corinna texted to check in and see if we needed anything. Later in the week Corinna emailed a detailed list of the many parades and events happening that weekend (St Patrick's, by a stroke of luck). They did everything possible to ensure our stay was magical. And it was.

The location is also magical. The home is in the heart of the quiet and beautiful Garden District. It's 1 min walk to the spectacular St Charles (where you can catch the streetcar or a cab) and 5 to Magazine. It's walking distance to Commander's, Columns, Coquette, Atchafalaya, Casamento's, Mr John's and countless other restaurants. It's by two of the most famous cemeteries in NOLA. We found ourselves repeatedly noticing how perfect the location was over the course of our stay, and saying that we couldn’t have planned it better if we tried.

We fell in love with this city, and we will return. When we do, we will stay here.

And it will be magical.

Beautiful Place, Great Location

Let me just say that the neighborhoods of New Orleans are old , beautiful and culturally mixed. One street or building can be totally rehabbed while the next street or house over needs alot of work. This place has been beautifully rehabbed while some other houses on this street need some work. The location is wonderfully. There are two old cemeteries nearby and we took a guided tour of one of them. There is a self guided tour of the homes in the Garden District in the AAA guide and it started a few blocks from us. We saw several others taking the same tour. The St Charles Trolley line is two blocks from this place. I recommend you get the five day pass if you will be in town for that length of time as the trolley is convenient to most of New Orleans sites. The hosts were very helpful and available. We loved staying in the Garden District and would stay here again if in town.

Great home, Great Spot

Our stay in the Garden District was made easy with this wonderful home. Corinna was wonderfully helpful and the little extra touches made our stay perfect. It is a short walk away from the St Charles trolley bus, which we used every day and The Commanders Palace where we had a wonderful meal. Highly recommended.

Great place to stay, and fantastic hosts. Highly recommended!

We arrived in the evening and grabbed a cab to the house. Corinna was there to meet us and show us around, and when we told her that we needed to rush off and get some groceries before the store closed she grabbed her keys and drove us to the Fresh Market. This set the tone for a wonderful stay.

After so many hotel stays what a refreshing change to be in a place that felt like home, all the amenities you needed were there and very clean. The renovations were very well done. The other great thing compared to a hotel or other places we have stayed was the quiet. Rarely heard any noise, and never when sleeping. Being well rested on vacation doesn't always happen. Corinna and Michele provided a great visitors guide with restaurant and entertainment recommendations.

Location was just right for us. Easy walk to local restaurants and groceries and the streetcar just a block away was great. Would definitely stay again.

Come ultima tappa del nostro viaggio negli States avevamo alcuni giorni da trascorrere a New Orleans. Dopo aver valutato altre sistemazioni io e mio marito abbiamo deciso di provare a prenotare un appartamento.

Siamo arrivati ed i proprietari ci hanno accolto con immenso calore e gentilezza.

L'appartamento era bellissimo , elegante luminoso super accessoriato e pulito . Non potevamo chiedere di meglio era tutto perfetto.

La zona dove si trova è molto bella, tranquilla e piena di locali e supermercati .

Michele è Italiano e Corinna parla perfettamente la nostra lingua. Lei è anche un guida turistica e ci ha dato consigli utilissimi su cosa vedere e cosa fare.

Grazie a loro abbiamo cenato in buonissimi ristoranti della zona e ascoltato musica dal vivo senza dover andare in centro (troppo caotico per i nostri gusti)!!!

IL centro è vicino (si potrebbe andare anche a piedi )e si può raggiungere molto facilmente prendendo il tram più antico degli U.S.A. che si trova a pochi minuti a piedi dall'appartamento.

Se dovessimo tornare a New Orleans senza dubbio torneremo da loro .

Beautiful charming little getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The house is very well decorated with all the convinces you'll need to feel right at home. Lovely wood floors, high ceilings and great kitchen for hosting dinner if it's too rainy out. It's in a very convenient spot, walking distance to the Trolley on St.Charles or the shops and restaurants on Magazine. Away from the hustle&bustle of the French Quarter in the beautiful Garden District. Lots of awesome historic homes near by. Corinna & Michelle were great at making us feel welcomed and were always close by for anything we needed. We will definitely be back next trip to Nawlins!
