Lovely views of Rachel Carson Preserve and river. Ocean view to Footbridge Beach.
In 1950, my grandmother bought a cottage from Littlefield's Village just down the road on Route 1. She had it moved to this location and gathered family and friends for meals throughout the summer. She was a waitress in Somerville and whenever she had some extra money she put it into the cottage.
In the mid-1990s my parents retired and renovated it into a four-season home. My sister and I now own the house. While keeping it in the family we're happy to offer it for others' enjoyment.
We love the location! A quiet spot, at the end of dead-end street, close to the beach, with lovely views of the Rachel Carson preserve. Three sets of sliding glass doors on the ground floor overlook the Ogunquit river and let the sunshine in. Owner-occupied houses on either side of ours.
While our trip had to have a few revisions- due to a critical, unexpected illness in the family, Kristin was more than understanding and generous. We look forward to the stabilization of our lives and to hopefully having the opportunity to recuperate at this lovely home!!!!!!!!
Four girls in their forty's went away for a long weekend. We loved the clean house we stayed in! The kitchen was well equipped because we ate 2 out of 3 meals at the house. We loved having 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms! My kind of vacation home! The upper deck was perfect and faced the beach. The walk to the beach was perfect! We all loved our walks on the beach and the Marginal Way! Recommend this rental!
This is a super place to stay. We enjoyed the house very much and Kristen was very helpful. The house was spacious and well equipped. Perfect location near the beach.
Stayed Memorial Day weekend...This property is in a perfect location where it is very quiet, but still well within walking distance to a beautiful beach. The ocean water in Maine can't be expected to be warm...especially so early in the season...but during low tide hours, the very gently sloped beach is filled with little pools of water that warm up on sunny days and are perfect for little kids to splash around in.
My group was 4 small kids and 3 adults. We all had an amazing time. Plenty of room in the house and the 3 full baths were very nice to have. The upstairs king bed and bath offer a place for Mom and Dad to "get away" just enough...without actually leaving to house. The deck up there is also extremely nice. Sunrises are unbelievable from there or even from inside the upstairs bedroom with its large windows. The sunrise reflects off the water in the adjacent preserve area and makes for a very memorable experience.
I would definitely return. My only suggestion for improvement would be an improved outdoor eating area...maybe a deck off the back or an improved patio in the existing spot. Laundry on the first floor would also be great I suppose.
We stayed for a long weekend in September and had a great time. The home is large, spacious and very clean. There is a beautiful view of the Ogunquit river and a short walk to the beach. We took the trolley to Perkins Cove for lunch one day and enjoyed a walk to town for great shopping. Another day we took a wonderful bike ride to Wells. The house was fully equipped with everything that we could need. I spent a great afternoon reading on the beautiful upstairs deck with a beautiful view. I would definately rent again and recommend it .
This large lovely very clean vacation home has an enormous great room with views overlooking the oqunquit river, dunes and beach and into the Rachel Carson Preserve: numerous outside spaces for eating and socializing including an expansive deck off the master bedroom overlooking the beach, a dining area off the kitchen sliders overlooking the preserve and a seating area in the mature garden overlooking the Oqunquit tidal river. The house is large clean and updated with a fun fresh feel -and did I mention the views?!? 3 bedrooms and 3 full baths easily accommodates a family or group of friends. and a bonus back living room, provides a quiet area and a fireplace for quiet conversation. But best of all, this house has a location to die for at the end of a quiet dead end road, surrounded by nature, but only five houses away from the foot bridge beach. this is my favorite beach in oqunquit as it is not near a town center, (very nature-y, no buildings), has perfect sand, moderate waves, a gentle slope, a public bathroom, and a small burger/dog shack if your cooler 'runs dry'. the latter two structures are discretely tucked away behind the dunes along with a small parking lot which fills before10:00 in the high season, so being able to walk to the beach in four minutes puts you among the lucky few who can rise late, mosey over to the beach at your leisure go home for lunch and dinner, then return for sunset. We were there off-season this time and so did not have to struggle with crowds and Ogunquit is gorgeous in the fall as the leaves are turning. The owner is very responsive and kind, and the home beautiful. My only hesitation in recommending it is that I don't want to get shut out by too many other bookings!
About one mile north of Ogunquit center where there is a great bakery, fudge shop, specialty grocery, diner, stores and beach side restaurant.
