Cute little house with plenty of room for a small family.

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and warm. Comfy furniture. We had a rainy day, and the TV streaming options were great. Plenty of cookware, if you want to cook. There are also restaurant options that are reasonably close. Two areas outside for fires, along with tables (with umbrellas) and other seating. The house is secluded, without being *too* remote.

There are brochures available, describing local activities and places of interest. However, I recommend mapping out some things in advance, if you hope to experience a lot of what the area has to offer.

One of the best homes we have ever stayed in!

  • 5 of 5

Don and Angie have done an absolutely amazing job with this home. It is by far the most well-appointed place we have ever stayed in during our years of traveling. The living room is large and comfortable with a fireplace, tv, games, and plenty of books to read (with more books in the other rooms as well). The wifi is strong inside the house if you need internet. The eat-in kitchen had every utensil you would ever need, even if you do a lot of cooking while on vacation (like we do). The bathroom was comfortable with a claw foot tub and good water pressure. The queen bed in the Master bedroom wasn't as comfortable as our Tempurpedic, but was fine for a week. The other bedroom had two twin size beds that we didn't use. The property was secluded and well set up with a sitting area around a fireplace on the front lawn, a small deck off the front door, and a nice patio in back with a fire pit, charcoal grill, and 4 person table and chairs. It was so private that my husband had walked outside au naturel... until he noticed the security cameras... HaHa! The location is perfect! Only about a 15 minute drive "into town" and close to Ohiopyole, Falling Water, the Flight 93 Memorial, and all the awesome little towns and state parks in the area. The steep gravel driveway was a bit of a challenge for my husband to navigate on our nearly half-ton motorcycle, especially with all the rain the area had before and during our visit keeping the ground soft. And the turn onto Glades Pike (Route 31) needs to be handled with extreme caution, as many big trucks and cars come flying down the hill at 60+ mph. We normally leave the houses we rent cleaner than they were when we arrive, but this home was already spotless when we checked in. The only thing we thought the house needed was a dehumidifier to get rid of the dampness in the bathroom. We can't wait to return, and we have already recommended this cabin to family members. Thank you, Don and Angie!!

A week in July

  • 5 of 5

This "cabin" felt more like a "cottage". Cozy, fully furnished and well stocked. There are nice sitting areas outside, both front and back where you can enjoy a campfire in the evening. Not too far away are places to see and experience. We visited Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh, the Frank Lloyd Wright, Fallingwater house and the Flight 93 Memorial site. We also stopped by the Glades Pike winery up the road for a sampling of their wine. The Peach Sangria you can buy by the glass, but you can't purchase a bottle of it! Such a shame....it was delicious!

Everyone vacations differently and we are a retired couple seeking rest and relaxation. If you are a skier or snow tuber, there are plenty of places for you in the winter. We were happy with the hospitality extended by the Lapson's. The bottled water left for us in the fridge sure came in handy during our warm stay for the week. The welcome sign by the fireplace was a nice, personal touch too! Thank you so much.

NICE.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in this lovely little cabin for a ski weekend at Hidden Valley. There were two adults and two teenagers. The size of the cabin worked out for us. It is very nicely decorated and very clean. I would say that it is a little nicer than it looked in the pictures. We would definitely stay there again.
