We cannot say enough kind words about this fantastic spot away from it all, yet close to so many fun activities. Kim and Rupert were responsive to our questions, and ensured a memorable vacation for our family of six. Their home (from the luxurious mattresses to the fully stocked kitchen, from the soft towels to the gas fireplace) provided every possible creature comfort. Our four kids used the Community Center's fitness room, indoor pools, hot tub, sauna, and game room every day. Downhill and cross-country skiing, ice skating, and a sleigh ride at Waterville Valley highlighted our week-long stay. We also hiked to see the Flume, Basin, and other natural sights, all within an easy drive. The Mad River Tavern and Woodpeckers are restaurants close by if you don't want to cook, plus the "Cupboard" is a local grocery store in Campton that sold all that we needed. You will not be disappointed by this wonderful family getaway in the New Hampshire woods.
We enjoyed our week at this vacation home very much. We couldn't ask for better accommodations. The property was extremely well maintained and everything looked brand new. The beds are very comfortable. The entire house was very clean. The outdoor furniture is so great and perfect to relax in the fresh mountain air! The kitchen is well equipped and the refrigerator is perfect with the ice machine. We found Rupert and Kim, the owner, to be very helpful and were very quick to respond to any of our questions.
We are experienced Homeaway/VRBO renters who often ski out west, stayed east this year over school break. Our requirements: impeccably clean; comfort and style; location central to several ski mountains. All met! If there is snow on the White Mountains - grab this home quick!
Top notch, well-appointed home. Our two families stayed in comfort (kids shared the bunk room). We enjoyed the beautiful home and great location. Quality bedding, linens, and all accoutrements. The Owners' attention to detail evident, so gracious and welcoming.
Easy drive to Loon (family oriented with some ski shops in town), Canonn (Bode's Miller's home mountain- no frills- for heartier types), Waterville Valley (family oriented) ( all within 20-30 minute drive), Bretton Woods (family oriented with a few more amenities) a little further- but worth it. Skied them all. If you go to Bretton Woods, go another 20 miles to explore/shop the little town of Jackson, the waterfalls-beautiful!, and see the Eagle Mountain Resort- just charming, like walking back in time. Need ski rental? Friends were pleased with Exit 28 rental (and Pizza!). Good rental equipment-priced right and the Pizza- delivered- was good too! Little ones you'd like to put in ski school? Loon definitely- great beginner program. Our "newbie" was skiing blues by the third day.
Dinner at Mad River Tavern a must (you'll pass it as you arrive)- rustic casual, warm and great dinner. Make a reservation! Woodpeckers, no frills, good to great food, but after dinner hours, more of a roadhouse bar (families before 8).
Would keep this great mountain home our little secret, but the gracious owners deserve the 5 star review.
