Sweet accommodations, phenomenal views

  • 5 of 5

We had the perfect three-night stay in mid-June. The house was very clean and nicely appointed, and it had a very open and relaxing feel. The fresh-baked bread and fresh eggs from Cheri's adorable hens were a really nice touch. We spent our evenings dining on the deck and watching the sun set over the incredible mountain views. The night sky here is very free of light pollution. There is hiking right out the back door on BLM land (wonderful views, and you can hike down to the Arkansas River), and there are lots of trailheads nearby if you want to drive to them. Mount Princeton Hot Springs are just down the road, and Salida is close by if you want to dine out or shop. If you've got horses, this is a great setup as well. What's not to like? -- Greg and Tara

Owner's Response: You were wonderful guests! It was a hectic weekend with all the Fibark festivities in town, so I am glad you were able to relax and enjoy your stay - and count the stars in the evenings. Thank you for your help working on the irrigation ditches as well!. I am sure the pasture grass is greener for your endeavors! Hope to see more of you in the future.

Beautiful home...not as quiet as you would hope

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful house with drop dead gorgeous views and great horse facilities. The only down fall was the shooting range right next door!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words regarding the facilities. Its been nine months - I hope your memories of riding in the area with your friends are as pleasant! I am so sorry you were disturbed by the nearby gun range when you and your friends were guests here last summer. The gun range is not right next door however. Actually it is over a half mile north of my property - beyond the archery range and the land filI and several tree topped ridges. Perhaps there was a class scheduled that weekend preparing gun owners for the then upcoming 2015 hunt season resulting in more noise than usual. I do hope that the home and property, all the wonderful rides, trailers and horses accommodations, the trails accessed and the camraderie of friends and horses left you with fond memories of the vacation with your friends. Many have enjoyed the facilities and the trails right out the back on to BLM land and have returned to discover new trails to add to their favorites! I've enjoyed guiding guests on trails in the area throughout Chaffee County, across the Arkansas River in summer, and riding through the color changing in fall on Aspen Ridge. Happy Trails!

"Gentlemen of the Road" Concert Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Cheri was a gracious host and the place was clean, updated and comfortable. The views from the living room and deck were stunning. We enjoyed grilling (thank you Cheri for filling the propane tank for us). We highly recommend for a get away!

Owner's Response: You were delightful guests and I'm happy that you enjoyed your visit to Salida and the Gentleman of the Road event. Also glad you were comfortable in your "home a way from home" while here! (I will have to find a way to measure amounts of propane in the tank. After replacing it, I weighed the tank and it must have been at least 1/3 full!) Nights are cooling off more and more so it wont be long before the colors are changing on the Aspens. Hope you can make another trip this direction to enjoy the fall colors while relaxing on the deck with friends!

Simply lovely

  • 5 of 5

How welcoming and what a great host Cheri was. All the horses had lovely, safe pastures with shelter. The fresh eggs from the hens and baked bread . The house was so comfortable and clean with stellar views and plenty of spca to explore right off the property. Cheri led a ride, and introduced us to a warm and welcoming community. Whether you have horses or not this is a lovely place to stay! Linda P

Owner's Response: If only you and your group could be here for the entire summer - what fun we would have! Riding with the hounds was a great experience for everyone as well as riding in the river. Glad you enjoyed the mountains and trails as much as I do every day. Hope you all can plan another trip this direction in the fall to ride the colorful Aspen trails in the Bassam/Aspen ridge area and/or return to ride a real"fox" hunt in this valley when the season starts late fall! Wont be long and there will be a chill in the evening air to remind us of the coming fall and winter sports. Even non-riders will have fun in the mountains skiing, snowmobiling or just sitting on the deck admiring the sunsets while sipping an evening toddy! See you then!

Great view, home, owner, and dog!

  • 5 of 5

Not only is the house impeccable, and not only are the views outstanding, the horse accommodations excellent, and the convenience to trails, Salida, and shopping enticing, but Cheri, the owner, is a remarkably accomplished hostess, and do-it-all wonder woman (she builds and maintains all of her properties) with a great sense of humor, and like the property, an inspiration. Truly one of the most singular places I have stayed for having everything one seeks in a mountain getaway at one's finger tips, plus a one of a kind owner. And her dog is a real charmer.

Owner's Response: I wouldn't say I am wonder woman, but I do enjoy hosting guests and helping them have the best vacation possible here in the mountains! So -thank you for your kind words. Your group of friends was exceptional in many ways, expressing their love of the area, trails, views, the home and property. So glad you had the opportunity to join them here if only for a few days. Do come again, Boomer will be waiting to accompany you on your hikes!

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The views won't get any better, and Cheri is a real pleasure...We had a family of 7 here and spent a lot of time exploring the woods to the river and enjoying the area. Choose this place for the view and the deck for sure, but nothing will disappoint. Thanks again Cheri for the fresh eggs, fruit, and bread!

Owner's Response: You were a delightful family to host as well! I'm happy that you enjoyed the time spent on the deck using the grill to entertain while relaxing as the sun set. Your hikes and adventures into the public lands adjacent to the property were perfect for working up an appetite and creating a restful night's sleep. It is so nice that some of your extended family was able to join you for your vacation here in the mountains. You and your family are invited back anytime. Give the boys a hug for me and a big thank you for splitting that firewood!
