It has every thing you will need for comfort and fun. sits on 2 acres at the end of a quite lane, close to every thing, yet private. Come spend time relaxing by the beautiful pool or take a refreshing swim. Entertain friends and family with the gas BBQ and grill in the picnic area under a large shady Mango tree. Casa de Vieques is 2 minutes from the largest super market on the Island, the two gas stations and restaurants. Its 5 min. from beaches on the Atlantic side, 10 min to the mile long pier, (with great snorkeling opportunities) and 15 min to the Caribbean side with the famous Sun Bay, and multitudes of other hidden beaches to explore.
Hi, my name is Kate. I'm a devoted mother of two. My family and I live in northern California were we lead an active life style of hiking, camping, skiing, kayaking. The highlight of our life is spending time in Vieques were time seems to slow down and my children can kick off their shoes. when in Vieques we love to volunteer at the Humane society, walking the dogs.
Kate Youngberg purchased this house in 2014
My family went to Vieques in the summer on 2014 to give my family a chance to connect with their Puerto Rican roots on my husbands side (and work on our Spanish, still working on that ; ). We were able to spent 3 months exploring the island and fell In love with Vieques for it's beautiful beaches, wild horses, wonderful people and the slower paced life. Even though it is a small island it has a wide rang of things to do and places to explore.
We are children friendly and pet friendly, trying to accommodate everyone's needs.
The house is located at the end of a quite lane, giving you privacy and safety.
There is no extra charge per person.
It was absolutely amazing we had the best time, they made sure we had a perfect vacation and we did indeed. The house had eveything, we only need it to bring ourselves and swimwear. It was a memorable vacation and we are definitely coming back and staying at Casa de Vieques.
Thank you Kate and Family
The extreme filth of the property was overwhelming: every ceiling fan, corner, window sill, and light fixture was covered with grime, dead bugs, and dirty cobwebs. It was impossible to look through any window as every screen was full of dead bugs. We wore our shoes, initially due to the gritty, dirty nature of the floors, but then we found a large stain the first bedroom (that doubles as the entry way) that smelled strongly of dog urine and upon wiping turned the paper towel yellow. Bed shams were ripped and bed clothes were stained including the sheets on my daughter’s bed that had the appearance of dried blood. The couch, the arm of which is broken and fell away with a light touch, was poorly recovered with a highly scratchy fabric, making it doubly uncomfortable. There was hair, not ours, in one of the bathrooms as well as a large matt of hair mixed with debris plastered onto the kitchen floor. The outside property was also poorly kept with garbage cans overflowing with reeking trash (located outside a bedroom window), a large dirty kitchen pot filled with brackish water outside the side door, damaged pool decking that facilitated a work camp for a major ant army, and a large coffee can filled with old cigarette butts. The van was a complete beater, essentially missing the center dashboard and full of dirt and junk. We drove the van less than 30 miles (each time getting nauseous and dizzy from the exhaust fumes that filled the van if we were not driving at least 30 miles an hour) when the van completely died in the middle of the road and we had to push it off the road and walk back to the house. While it was good for a couple of laughs when my husband had to climb through the driver window when the door wouldn’t open, we definitely weren’t laughing when Pam charged us $30 for gas. We went to bed discouraged, but determined to wake with a fresh perspective. Instead, we awoke to find food free counters littered with rodent feces. We wasted a precious day of vacation scrambling to find a new rental property and vehicle.
We received a refund check for the remaining 13 days in the mail and were absolutely flabbergasted to find that Pam deducted two nights when we only stayed for one night (because we were not checked out by 11am), $79 for insurance, and the $30 for gas. Because of the unbelievable and unprecedented nature of this experience, we photographed many of our concerns – these photos can be viewed at Casa De Vieques Facebook.
Is amazing place and so beautiful. We enjoy a lot!
There were 8 of us in our group and we fit well without feeling cramped. I enjoyed having coffee every morning on the back deck and that is where we would end up most nights as well. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals and the outdoor BBQ was great.
Pam went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and answered all of our questions about the island. She also mailed my wife's laptop to us after it was forgotten in the house!
This house has everything perfectly thought of. Design has from spacious kitchen with all sort of appliances to living room right in the middle and all bedrooms surrounding it, great form of interacting! There's some sort of entertainment for everyone at this house. Nice and fun pool area and grounds. Pam made us feel welcomed and was very attentive when we had to request for assistance. Just bring your food and clothes, because everything else, they basically have in here!
Thank you for the most magical weekend we as a group has ever had!
