Beautiful, super clean, upscale

  • 4 of 5

pros...The property was beautiful, clean and gorgeous views. Wonderful appointed kitchen and cozy reading room.

cons...remote, It is not a swimming beach, limited access over rocks. There is only one bathroom upstairs, no bedroom down all 3 bedrooms share the private bath of the master...could be awkward and disruptive depending upon who shares the house.

Charming New England beach house

  • 5 of 5

The property was the perfect New England beach house. The kitchen was absolutely amazing. The appliances were older but high-end. The island had six chairs and each one had a view of the water. I thought having to rent the linens would be a hassle but the process was easy and very convenient. The bedrooms upstairs were a generous size and two of them had water views. The small upstairs seating area turned out to be everyone's favorite spot for reading or just having a cup of coffee. And I cannot say enough about the view of the water. It was mesmerizing. I don't think there was a better view on the street. We had a great time and will be looking to come back next year.

One of the nicest things about doing a VRBO is living out a brief but sweet fantasy of living in one of those homes you often pass but know you could never afford to own. So it was with this property.

The unending views are breathtaking out of almost every window, and the lull of the waves, soothing. There is a little historic trail just south of the property, and coves and beaches to explore within walking distance. Don't miss these!

The main floor includes a TV room/den/extra bedroom, a spacious bathroom, and dining room, as well as the beautiful kitchen and living room. The kitchen is VERY well appointed and we wanted for nothing. We ate our meals near the fireplace in the living room (gas). What ambiance!!!

Upstairs there are three large bedrooms (the only bathroom upstairs is in one of the bedrooms so guests have to cut through the room to use it which may be a little awkward). Two of the bedrooms have magnificent views of the ocean (both have full sized beds), and the third bedroom has two full beds and looks out the back. The sitting area is just right for taking in the stunning views and enjoying a cup of tea and a good book.

There is also a basement with full washer and dryer which was very nice.

We had such a wonderful stay that I hate to even mention any negatives, if you'd even call them that, but I think I would want to be aware of a couple things so here you go.

First off, this is an older home with quirky noises largely from the heating system which were heard in the quiet of the night and was a little unnerving at first.

Second, the shower door upstairs does not shut tight so we had to constantly pull at it to keep water from splashing on the floor. Not sure how to fix this but I'm sure there's a way.

Finally, it seems odd to me that given the quality of the home and a rather high nightly rental price (we got a wonderful deal due to it being the quiet season and a price glitch on their site - THANK YOU!!!), bedding and towels are not provided. We came from Colorado and couldn't afford luggage space to pack these so paid about $40 to rent pretty basic sheets and towels that were in a sack and waiting for us at the house. No real complaint here, just curious.

I also want to mention that we had great communication with Danny! He gladly answered all our questions in a timely and detailed manner.

We will never forget our amazing stay...

Wonderful Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was our first vacation in Maine and it was wonderful! We had an "all girls" getaway and really enjoyed the house, ocean view, seafood and shopping. This house is highly recommended!

Perfect vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

I have never vacationed in Maine before and would have to say that this was a perfect introduction. The house is beautiful and impeccably maintained, located on a quiet road that services local traffic only, i.e. about five homes. We were six adults, ideal for the three "Laura Ashley" style bedrooms. The kitchen / dining area features three sinks, 2 ovens, a 6-element stovetop, microwave, fridge, wine fridge, dishwasher, a large dining room table and a huge quartz-style island that seats 6. All rooms but 1 overlook the ocean, including an upstairs nook that serves as a lovely reading corner. The crash of the surf against the shore is a constant accompaniment. There is a choice of beaches nearby, one directly in front of the house that nobody else seems to use, another within walking distance, and Fortunes Rocks (great boogie-boarding and surfing spot) and Goose Rocks an easy bike ride away. If you're into fishing, a neighbour caught a 38" striped bass just off the rocks in the bay in front of the house. There are plenty of opportunities for local nature walks, kayaking, biking, golf, "beaching it", and just exploring. Kennebunkport (if you're into touristy) is an easy 10-minute drive away and there is a great choice of fresh fish off the beaten path in nearby Cape Porpoise. The owners live 2 houses away and are very pleasant and helpful, although we didn't really need anything. I would definitely recommend this vacation home to anyone who appreciates beauty and peacefulness.

The Perfect Family Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from the best family vacation in this wonderful home. The house is clean and spacious with the most amazing views from almost every room! Truly breathtaking. There was plenty of room for our two families that included 4 young boys. Had great lobster dinners at the breakfast bar with a terrific ocean view. Woke to the sound of waves in the morning. There is a great little beach just steps away from the house where the kids enjoyed looking for rocks and shells and playing in the surf. Just a short walk away is Timber Trail that leads to the back side of Goose Rocks beach and at low tide you can go out to Timber Island. We spent hours on the island and Goose Rocks Beach. Just a half mile from the house is Hoyts Neck Beach where we spent a day playing baseball and Bocce. We were even lucky enough to see a seal basking on the rocks that day. One afternoon we went tubing on the river inlet behind the house. We rented kayaks for a day and explored Goose Rocks Beach. just a short drive up to Fortunes Rocks Beach ... amazing! You really don't need to leave this house to have a terrific vacation. The owners were super friendly and accommodating. Thank you for probably the best vacation we have had in Maine ... and we have been going to Maine for 15 years.
