This is a private home near the Coronado National Forest Wilderness Area. This 4,000 square foot contemporary Santa Fe style home is beautifully situated on the one of the highest and most scenic improved parcels in the northwest Catalina Foothills at the base of Mount Lemmon. 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, gourmet kitchen, with multiple porches and decks with some of the best views of the Tucson valley.
This home is nestled into a saguaro studded hillside at an elevation of 3,200’ (Downtown Tucson is about 2,350’). It is one of the highest estates in the northwest foothills of Tucson and the view must be seen to be believed. During the day, you can see the mountains on the Mexican border (68 miles away) and at night, the sea of lights of metro Tucson are below you. Behind the home is designated wilderness area filled with wildlife and improved hiking trails off of Pima Canyon. We have personally seen the following birds and animals in our yard: giant owl; giant hawk, bobcat, deer, javelina, coyote, humming bird, rabit and various other species. The daytime temperatures in the summer are about 4 degrees less than downtown because of our elevation and the nighttime temperatures in the winter run at least 5 degrees warmer because we are off of the valley floor.
It is only minutes away from many activities:
-Golf at Arizona National (formerly the Raven) in 10 minutes, Ventana Canyon in 25 minutes, and many more great golf courses within 30 minutes.
-Grocery shopping, restaurants, drug stores, and virtually everything you might need to purchase on a day to day basis are within 8 minutes.
-La Encantada, Tucson's premier dining and shopping venue, is 5 minutes away.
-St Phillips Plaza, another exclusive shopping and dining location, is about 10 minutes away.
-Tucson Mall is about 10 minutes away.
-University of Arizona is about 20 minutes
-Downtown Tucson is about 25 minutes

I am a computer engineer who has traveled and lived around the world but have chosen to settle in Tucson due to its temperate climates, spectacular scenery, and abundant wildlife.
Strom purchased this house in 2010
This property simply has one of the most spectacular views in Southern Arizona. You can see mountains in Mexico over 80 miles away!
I like sitting on the porch or in the hot tub in the evenings enjoying the spectacular sunsets and the amazing city lights.
We were looking to be well located for outdoor activities and this house worked out very well. We were able to get to many places to hike and sightsee, and sunsets were great. Although the house is in a very peaceful, beautiful and natural setting, we were also very close to restaurants and grocery stores.
The owner was very responsive to our questions while booking and before the trip.
The house was well-equipped and well-kept and, although huge, was very comfortable. The pool and spa were nice to look at, but were a bit hard to use due to the need to heat them (was December) in advance.
If your goal is hiking this was a great location. If it's to see the city of Tuscon itself you might want to stay someplace closer to town.
We had such a wonderful stay at this home----extremely spacious living space and patio, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, and a beautiful outside space with breath-taking views. Owner was very helpful with all questions. We gathered our family here for Thanksgiving and enjoyed a truly memorable meal on the patio overlooking the mountains while our children joyfully jumped in and out of the pool. A very special place.
We really loved this house! The view is breathtaking and the pools and flowers are lovely. This is a wonderful house for a family or group of friends. The bedrooms are spaced at opposite sides of the house and downstairs so you can move about without worrying about waking the rest of the group. Furnishings are very upscale and the kitchen is well stocked.
We used the hot tub a few times and it was great, but you need some lead time to get it warmed up, as it expensive to run it all the time. The owner, Strom, was wonderfully attentive and very helpful. He has household items and sundries already in the house which was very nice as well.
I would note that there is house next door whose outside patio is continuous with this house's patio. That house is not occupied and the owner keeps it up well, but if there was someone staying there it would be awkward.
This house worked out so nicely as a base for our exploration of Tucson. It afforded three couples absolute privacy in the three master suites along with ample space for spending time together when we chose to. Our host was accommodating and available while leaving us to enjoy our own experience. We'd certainly stay here again.
Gorgeous, well-maintained home. Wonderful location in foothills. City and mountain views both first-rate. The owner is attentive and a delight. Easy access to outdoor adventures, which was our family's focus, but just minutes from shops and restaurants. Be sure to use heated pool and spa under the Tucson stars at night; pure magic.
Outstanding mountain and city view! Not only the location but the house, the pool, the spa provided a very lururious environment. Gorgous house, great furniture, lots of clean, comfortable outside furniture. Great owners who saw to our every need. We had a GREAT VACATION! Would we go again? DEFINITELY!
