Brenda and John Reside in CT with our 3 children. We were involved in all decisions in the renovation of this cottage, and continue to update or make changes each year. Found treasures in various locations in New England were included in the renovation and decoration. More info happily provided on request!
Brenda purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Brenda chose Bonnet Shores
Being able to walk to a beach was the best feature of this home when we bought it even tho it needed extensive renovation and updating. The area of Bonnet Shores has a great sense of neighborhood, beautiful homes and gardens set out on a penninsula of Narragansett between the Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay.
What makes this Cottage unique
High quality materials inside and out were used with shore living in mind. The original home didn't have any porches and was a dark brown very dated ranch without any porches. Original cobblestones were found buried in the front along the property line and reused along with stones from a demolished wall. Salvaged bluestone from a seaside home in Branford, CT were relocated and used for the front steps and side walkway. Found treasures from various locations in New England were included in the renovation and decoration. The mud room is the only interior square footage that was added over existing concrete stairs identical to the ones on the opposite side of the house. The baseboard rocks were handpicked from beaches in RI, MA, NH, and ME and installed one by one over several years. All the wall and trim paint were chosen for a specific color with beach themed names.

Thank you very much for the excellent review. I am glad your first stay in Narragansett was a memorable one!
Certainly a hidden treasure
We loved this gem of a house. Bigger than the pictures led us to believe and stocked with everything and anything a family at the beach could need. Brenda met us there and showed us around. A really nice touch. The walk to Kelly beach is short and we couldn't be happier! % star experience all around. Thanks, Brenda and see you next year!

Thanks for the great summary and review! I enjoy meetings families like yours, and try to personalize items in the home and information to the individual family whenever possible. Hope to have you back as one of our “Regulars” next summer!
Beautiful area lovely home very close to the beach.
Thanks for the review! It was a pleasure to meet you and your family.
Perfection with a water view and close to the beach.
This charming cottage is even more charming than the photos. It has EVERYTHING that anyone could want for a beach vacation or an autumn vacation which we have just had. The house is sparkling clean, comfortable beds and furniture, nicely decorated with a screened in porch that we spent most of our time on. Quiet neighborhood with miles of walking, beaching, long sleeps, and a relaxing vacation. Close to long, endless sandy beaches, fabulous food & ice cream. The owner was personable, professional and explained everything when we met her. I have rented many, many house & condos from VRBO over the last eight years and this was one of the best. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.
Thank you very much for this detailed review. I enjoy meeting people like you, and providing a wonderful rental experience and relaxing stay.
Awesome home! Totally recommend!
Lovely! Feels more like a home than a rental! Tastefully decorated...you're immediately transported to the shore when you enter the house!
The area is wonderful. Short walking distance to Kelly beach!
The owner (Brenda!) is very responsive and great to work with!
The house is fully equipped with everything you need for a super comfortable stay!
Thank you for the great review. Especially nice to receive this review as you were the only "new" family during peak season!
Narragansett is an outstanding town known for it's large stretches of beautiful beaches, seaside homes and location. Bonnet Shores is a District within Narragansett. Bonnet Shores has many benefits. It is a safe, quiet beach community where people enjoy walking, running or biking around the quaint streets. At the entrance, there is a fork in the road; Left side, Bonnet Shores Rd, leading towards the small pier, beach and boat moorings, and views of the Jamestown and Newport bridges. Right side of the fork, Bonnet Point Rd, leading to the spectacular private beach, Kelly Beach. The beach has great sand, not too crowded and the waves are moderate. There are lifeguards and a weekend shuttle bus to/from the beach. Bonnet Shores District has a small playground, sports area and a community club house with weekly summer camp as an option. You are a short drive to all other Narragansett beaches, parks, dining, lots of shops, grocery stores. 20 minutes to Block Island Ferry in one direction and Newport in the other. 40 min to CT casinos. Roger Williams Z00 is 30 minutes and Providence is 35 minutes.
Other Activities:golf, hockey rink, tennis courts, basketball courts, bike trail, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding. Adventureland has go carts, mini golf, go-carts, bumper boats and Merry Go Round.
