Great rental! Highly recommend!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 3 nights for a wedding and I could not have asked for a better rental property! Despite what others have said, I thought that the apartment was very clean. The owners were extremely accommodating when our flights got moved and we had to rearrange the nights that we were staying. There was also something that was accidentally left at the apartment and the cleaners were very helpful and mailed it back to me. The location was beautiful.. quick walk to the downtown area, but very serene and quiet neighborhood!

Beautifully appointed, well located, spacious apartment.

  • 5 of 5

I was very impressed by the layout of the 1400 sq. ft. apartment. With 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, the kitchen, living room and foyer were not at all cramped.

The attention to the small details that are usually only found in upscale hotels were impressive. The bathroom towels were all attractively folded and displayed, as were the soaps and shampoos. The beds were beautifully arranged with decorative spreads and throw pillows.

The apartment is a short drive to King ST. and the surrounding historic area, but if you enjoy walking in the local area, the water is about a short 2 block walk from the apartment.

Charleston house

  • 4 of 5

Great location - easy to walk to everything. Very nice decor with really comfortable beds in all the rooms! Only suggestion is updating the few pots and pans - the non stick surface was literally coming off on the food we cooked.

Owner's Response: Thank you so very much for letting me know about the pots and pans....which are now in the garbage, and new ones in the cupboard! Feed-back from guests is invaluable as it is our objective to make certain that they have a wonderful stay in a clean, comfortable and safe environment. I have to admit to, not being a cook myself, not checking on the cookware after the cleaning staff had put it in the cupboard. My apologies. I am delighted that you did enjoy your stay and found all else up to your expectations. We welcome your return whenever your travels bring you to Charleston.

Charleston Charm

  • 4 of 5

The property we rented near the historic district of Charleston was quite nice as was the location which was within walking distance of King Street. The apartment we stayed in was clean and comfortable, and I was very impressed with the responsiveness of one of the owners when we initially had a problem with the television. The service person came right out and fixed it. The only suggestions for improvements I would make are these: The steps to enter the apartment are steep, yet there is no handrail. It was very difficult for an elderly friend who lives in Charleston and who came to visit to get up and down those steps. The other items are minor in comparison with the handrail. One is to replace the shower enclosure as the current one does not fit snugly to the wall, so water leaks out onto the bathroom floor when showering. It would also be nice to perhaps make some adjustments to the front bathtub to allow one to take showers in it. A pole on which to mount the hand-held nozzle and adding a shower curtain might be sufficient. The trash can in the kitchen needs replacing as it is cracked on two ends. One final item would be to have an inventory list posted of items that are already in the kitchen, such as cleaning supplies, coffee filters, condiments, etc. Guests upon arrival can quickly review the list and then buy what they'll need for their stay, rather than having to take time to check through all of the cupboards and drawers first to see what might be needed. Again, other than the handrail, these are not major issues. The street was very quiet and pleasant as well. All in all, I would return for another visit.

Charming and comfortable house.

  • 5 of 5

There was ample room for 3 ladies. The beds and linens were very comfortable. We did not prepare any food in the house except for light breakfast so the kitchen facilities were adequate for our needs. Walking to downtown would be quite a hike but Uber was never more than 3 min. away and inexpensive. Loved Charleston and would definitely come back. (The TV in the living room did not work although the handyman tried to fix it. Comcast did not make it out over the weekend)

Exce;;emt location & beautiful unit. Safety precautions needed for porch stairs.

  • 4 of 5

Great neighborhood with good weekend street parking. The unit was very beautiful and laid out nicely. The front door steps to front door need a hand rail for safety especially in rainy weather. The middle tile was loose. It was an easy access unit. Upon arrival windows were open and dust on every surface. The sheets in the middle bedroom had been changed long enough before our arrival that bugs were sheltered there. The dryer had some linen, a men's shirt & shorts. We had a great stay & I have passed on observations I'd want to know if I was the owner.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your extremely helpful review. Some of the situations that you reported were very alarming to me so I checked into it immediately to make certain it never happens again: as it turned out, the previous guest had an aversion to air conditioning and insisted on "natural air" and had opened most of the windows in the home but the housekeeper had not noticed since the windows are also covered with plantation shutters and had not re-closed them. Since there was a two day gap between the time of her cleaning and your arrival, the dust was allowed to accumulate. My housekeeper is excellent so this was quite a surprise to me, and to her, not knowing that the windows had been opened. Also apparently the middle bedroom has not been used by guests for some time and since the linens had not been used, the housekeeper had not changed the bed. Your review has helped both me and my housekeeper to develop some more criteria for her work: check all windows, change all the beds whether they had been used or not and to check the washer and dryer since she does not use them but takes the linens home to clean them. The things in the dryer had been left also by the previous guest and now I was able to return them to their owner. As for the three steps leading from the street to the front porch: One of the reasons the Historic District of Charleston is as beautiful as it is is because it is governed by a very strong and strict Board of Architectural review that does not allow anything to be changed on the homes from the original look....and, unfortunately, that has included adding a railing for a "stairs" that is less than four steps. I have been fighting with this for years and very frustrated that I have not been granted a building permit to add a railing. I was able to take your review to the Board of Architectural Review and use it as part of my most recent application and have FINALLY been granted the permit...and a railing is going in. Thank you so much for the help that your honest review has been.
