About Robin and Mike Smith
In 2011 we wanted to start planning our semi- retirement and thought it was going to be on a boat to cruise the Caribbean. After looking at the cost of a boats to cruise to the Bahamas we decided to look at property in the Bahamas. The first property we looked at was in Long Island and that was our last! We fell in love with this friendly, safe, beautiful island at first glance. After 3 years we feel blessed that we by far made the right decision. Then we meet with a few builders and chose Lauren Knowles, who is a father to the community and now like family to us. We started with just going to build a home for us but later decided we wanted to be able to share this amazing island with friends and family so that is how the Blue Lagoon Villa and the Pink Conch came in to play. Now the Blue Lagoon Villa is complete and our dream is a reality. We are so excited to meet you and help you enjoy your getaway to Bahama Dreamin!
Robin and Mike Smith purchased this Villa in 2014
Why Robin and Mike Smith chose Deadmans Cay
After touring Long Island we had to make a choice on where we wanted to build Bahama Dreamin Villas. We looked at the Leeward side of the island and the Windward side. We chose the windward side because of the elevation for the best view and the constant breeze. Even though we are from FL the breeze adds to the comfort of a tropical climate. We are so sre you will be amazed by the beautiful view that when you drive up the road to Bahama Dreamin and your first words aren't OMG we will buy your first nights dinner! You come once this will be somewhere you will want to visit again and again
What makes this Villa unique
We have traveled to many places so we have tried to pin down all the fine details when building and furnishing the Blue Lagoon and the Pink Conch Villas. Each villa are 1 and 2 bedrooms and each bedroom has its own private bath. The living room and kitchen has everything you need to make your stay just like home with a full refrigerator, stove, microwave plus pots and pans, blender, mixer, toaster, dishes etc... If you don't want to cook there are many restaurants on the island close by or you can have a Bahamian meal cooked for your in your own Villa with fresh fish or lobster caught that day. The large screened in porch is where you will spend your evenings and on a calm night you will be glad to have the screened room that is like an extension of the family room. All rooms are air conditioned but we rarely need them since there is always a nice breeze.

Get away from it all
The place and hosts were great. You can find peace and quiet here and fun attractions are just a short drive away.
Bahama Dreamin--A special place
If you're looking for peace, serenity and raw beauty, look no further than Bahama Dreamin. Overlooking scenic Chimney Rock the views from the Villa are simply stunning. A constant Atlantic breeze, abundant sunshine, friendly people-- what else could you ask for!!
The villas are clean, spacious, and well appointed with everything that you could possibly need. The free car rental was a welcome added bonus. Sit on your own private screened in balcony, by the fire pit or at the thatch covered cabana located halfway down the staircase to the beach. Kayak, snorkel or simply enjoy the majestic views and listen to the endless waves lapping at the shoreline. Unwind.
Dead man's Cay is centrally located on Long Island with easy access to the North and South-- allowing for easy exploration. The vibe of this place is tremendous with friendly locals, zero crime, great places to eat and people to meet
Don't miss Bahamas Dreamin. Robin and Mike are terrific with tips on restaurants, boat tours, swimming with the pigs (make sure you ask for Marvin Cartwright as your guide), fishing excursions, directions---anything you might need. It's a magical place. We will be back!

Magnificent view conveniently located
This is a home away from home! So comfortable, clean, modern and the views are spectacular! Great location mid island and the car that was included was essential. Robin was a great host and gave us all the info we needed on the best of everything on the island. Can’t wait to go back! So lucky to have found this gem.
Amazing Stay at Bahama Dreamin!
We just had the best vacation at Bahama Dreamin. The unit is huge for a one bedroom, and immaculate. The views when you come home from a day of island visiting are perfect. For us, it was the best place: central, affordable, spacious, and clean. We absolutely loved Long Island. We went to a different beach every day and were alone. Every day. A boat trip with Marvin was spectacular! Ask about it, he is a gem. We went to the sand bar and it was the most beautiful beach I've ever seen, and we've been to many islands. You can't go wrong with staying here. It's a winner.Thank you Robin! We will be back! Sue and Al
Stayed for 17 days in Feb 2019. Breathtaking view every morning from screened in porch with reclining chairs. Owners just built fireplace seating area for guests to gather at night. Overall fantastic place that comes with a car. Robyn and Mike are also top notch people......
Great Vacation in Long Island at Bahama Dreamin'
What an amazing week we had! The views from the villa are amazing, the snorkeling in front of the villa was better than anticipated, and the beach under Chimney Rock was super cool. Access to a car made this trip even better...the day trips to beaches around the island were unforgettable. Be sure to get to the Columbus Monument and snorkel Columbus Cove (below the monument). Galloway Beach, across the road from Dean's Blue Hole is a hidden gem - I wish we would have gone back a second time and stayed longer! In typical Bahamian fashion, there were a few bumps in the road with luggage and other issues, but Robin handled everything promptly and efficiently! It made the trip an even better experience. When we return to Long Island, you can be sure we will be back to Bahama Dreamin' . Until next time!!
The Real Bahamas!
Long Island, a jewel of an island located in the archipelago crown of islands in The Bahamas. Stretching about 80 miles long and the widest point on the island is approximately 4 miles. 'Yuma' was the original name for Long Island given by the native Arawak Indians before it was renamed 'Fernandina' by Christopher Columbus in 1492.
The tropic of Cancer line runs through Long Island, making the atmosphere feel as if you are on another plane...another world.
Long Island is said to be the most beautiful, picturesque island of The Bahamas because of its symphony of dramatic contrasts. On the 'norside', which is really the eastern shore overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, there are cliffs, caves and crashing waves of indigo. On the opposite side, the western shore, it's calm, tranquil, turquoise and aquamarine shades of blue overlaps with flats, mangroves and baby powder sanded beaches as far as the eyes can see.
The deepest blue hole in the world, Dean's Blue Hole (600 ft), is located at Turtle Cove west of the capitol, Clarence Town. Many blue holes exist throughout the island in settlements namely, Mileys, Dunmore and Simms.
Numerous cave and tunnel systems cover the island. The historical cave system where the Lucayan Indian Tribe and their treasure artifacts, such as the ceremonial stools 'duhos' were found is located in Mortimer's. The treasure find was discovered by Long Island native Carlton Cartwright. Another cave system is located in Mileys and the historical Hamilton's Cave where hieroglyphics are still visible on the cave walls to this day.
Scattered throughout Long Island are many ruins of cotton plantations, churches and houses built in the 1700 & 1800's. Adderley Plantation is located 'down' in the north. 'Up' south lies the ruins of Dunmore Slave Plantation named for the former governor, Lord Dunmore, of The Bahamas. Canals, wells, and walls built by slaves can still be found throughout Long Island to this day.
Columbus Point where Columbus Landed there is a monument erected. Climb to the top and experience a breathtaking panoramic view of Long Island. Located at Cape Santa Maria where the beach there is ranked amongst the top 10 in the world.
The Twin Churches built by Father Jerome, or Monsignor John C. Hawes an architect, world famous, he was also a poet, philosopher and sculptor. He he was ordained as a Church of England priest 'Anglican' and came to Long Island where he built St. Paul's Anglican Church. He later converted to Catholicism, returned to Long Island and built St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Both churches are located in Clarence Town on opposite hillsides.
Long Island is home to many wonders, a natural treasure chest. Go exploring, have an adventure, you just never know what you may find. Bring your Water shoes, snorkel or dive gear and your fishing pole and you will be set for the most relaxing adventure of your life!
