|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Are you tired of the hustle and bustle of every day life? Dreaming about your next vacation? Us too :)
Make your vacation plans now for this fall and start dreaming up ways to spend your days (we suggest long and lazy, but that's just us!).
Our lake house on Embden Pond is the perfect place to reconnect and rejuvenate.
Enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, kayaking, campfires, board games, and movie nights. Catch up on a good book. Take an afternoon nap. If long and lazy is not your thing, there is also golf, theatre, white water rafting, zip lining, hiking, and biking nearby—so many options for every type of vacationer.
Our lake house is located on Embden Pond, in Embden, Maine—about 1 hour North of Augusta in the Kennebec mountain and lakes region of Maine. The lake is 1600 acres, 6 miles long, 2 miles wide, and 160' deep in its deepest spots. Embden is one of the cleanest bodies of water in Maine—great for swimming—with plenty of small mouth bass and trout—a fisherman's paradise! There are a few pairs of loons that return every summer. Enjoy other wildlife such as bald eagles, moose, ducks and turtles.
The house rests on Embden's favored Northern East shore—perfect for full day sun and the most amazing sun sets. Another highlight? The night sky chock full of stars that you just can't see at home.
We have about 100' of shore frontage and a huge swimming dock. We offer kayaks for your use out on the lake. If you are looking for a busy lake like Winnipesaukee or Sebago, Embden is not the place for you. Our lake is quiet and peaceful, yet not secluded. A true gem in the Vacationland state of Maine.
Indoors, the house has three bedrooms (one queen, one full, two twins), plus a pull out couch. There are 2 1/2 bathrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, a HUGE 26' long outdoor deck, barbecue grill, fire pit, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, DVD players, movies, board games, books, internet….we have tried to anticipate your needs and make your stay as easy as possible. You will be pleased to know that the house is super CLEAN as well!
There are also plenty of day-trip excursions nearby (if you are so inclined) such as:
-Sugarloaf USA: hiking, biking, golfing and zip lining
-Northern Outdoors: white water rafting and fly fishing
-Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor: offers charming boutique-like shopping and restaurants a well as lobster boating, whale watching, hiking and bike tours up the mountain and so much more.
-Moosehead Lake: Water or air? Take a one hour and fifteen minute drive over to Moosehead Lake for a four-hour canoe moose safari, where the wildlife outnumbers people 3:1. If you prefer to see the beautiful 30 mile long lake from the air, rent a sea plane.
We look forward to having you stay in our home! Happy vacation planning!
Jeff and Ranae live and work full time in Massachusetts (Jeff in Sales and Ranae in Marketing) with two very active children. Life gets so busy, but we always know that we are guaranteed a slower pace and time to reconnect as a family up at the lake.
Ranae and Jeff Mogensen purchased this house in 1997
We purchased this home as a retreat from every day life. We tell everyone that our best family time is spent 'Up North.' This is where we get away from the hustle and bustle of real life and reconnect as a family. We have made so many memories at the lake and would like to give others the opportunity to do the same.
Embden Lake is awesomely clean and peaceful! There is very little boat traffic, but it is not desolate either. Neighbors are friendly and respectful. The East Shore boasts the most amazing views on the lake. We love to greet each day with a cup of coffee on the porch swing down by the dock and then gather there again each evening to take in the fiery sunsets. Fish jump, eagles soar, loons call… is no place we'd rather be. We are sure you'll feel the same!
This was a perfect setting for our family gathering on Embden Pond. We felt right at home in this well-maintained and equipped house. The living/dining area with beautiful lake/forest views was just right for shared meals and conversation. We read, napped and watched a lunar eclipse from the lovely deck. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bedrooms were comfortable. The fall weather was warm so all ages enjoyed the dock and boats. We hope to visit again next year!
My family and I spent a week here in August and loved it. The house was clean and located in a fabulous spot. The sunsets were epic and the water was unbelievably clear. My wife and I brought our two teen/preteen boys and their two friends and the six of us had plenty of space. The boys swam, fished, kayaked, made smores, and created perfect summer memories. My wife and I relaxed while soaking up the sun, listening to loons, and watching the sun set.
I'd go back in a heartbeat.
This retreat on Embden Pond was great! The place truly lives up to the pictures. Everything was exactly what we expected it to be and more. Our only regret on this trip is that we had too little time(four nights) to enjoy the home as we were busy with the activities that we had planned. The owners were a delight to deal with and we would not hesitate to come back here for a longer stay.
We could not have asked for more. Living space was spacious, airy and well appointed. One bedroom on first floor and two on second floor. Master was spacious. Extremely clean.
Anything we wanted was there. Full size washer and drying! Dish washer!
We have been renting cabins on homeaway for several years and this one was our favorite.
I am a repeat vacationer to Ranae and Jeff's gorgeous lakehouse and plan to return! This property is more than a rental, it is a home and the pride the owners take in their property can be seen in every corner. The home itself is pristine, fresh and light. The beds and pillows are all very comfortable. The furniture is in excellent condition. The lake itself is very quiet with crystal clear waters - perfect for a family kayak trip or just sitting and fishing off the dock. This is perfect for a family getaway - don't forget the walkie talkies so the kids can enjoy some hiking around in the woods. There is also plenty of room in the yard for lawn games. This is a nice restful area and far enough from commercial activity/areas, but close enough that if you need groceries or rainy day activity you're only 20 minutes away.
This is an amazing getaway! When we go here to visit we take in the fresh air, the peacefulness and get to enjoy our famiy! There is so much to do from boating, swimming, hiking, playing games to just relaxing reading, eating and of course watching the sun rise and set over a beautiful lake!
