Maison Noir is an exclusive use luxury villa, totally private, set among magnificent mountain ranges high above Hout Bay. The Villa is privately owned and opened its doors in early 2015. Designed around the traditional ‘African kraal’ - based on a series of small buildings within a wall/hedge to keep wild life at bay, this modern interpretation is a fresh take on that concept. Interconnected by glass passages and allowing for outside- inside living, the villa is perfectly integrated into the surrounding natural landscape. It becomes an intimate, private village, filled with natural light and surrounded by water bodies and open air spaces. Both interior and exterior design details draw on the African, French, Indonesian, and global traditions that have defined Cape Town for centuries.
Signifying the four elements, sky, water, fire and earth, the result is a destination where guests at once feel private and secluded as if one is at the ends of the earth while only being moments away from Hout Bay, the legendary city of Cape Town and the renowned Cape Wine region.
The flow of the living areas is perfect and completely separate from the bedroom wing. The spacious lounge and dining room is situated next to a fully equipped kitchen with walk-in fridge and separate scullery. All four bedrooms come with full en-suite bathrooms; three of them include outdoor showers and offer a loft lounge and a private workspace opening onto a roof terrace. The large Master Bedroom offers amazing views of the Table Mountain National Park and comes with an additional living area including an open fireplace as well as a spacious bathroom.
At Maison Noir we take service seriously. The house is serviced daily and our estate manager, Joe, is happy to assist with any requirement though will remain unobtrusive during your stay. Whilst the house is self-catered we have a number of tried and tested local chefs who are familiar with offering their creative genius to Maison Noir guests.

Maison Noir Surpasses All Expectations!
Our family of eight recently spent a week at the beautiful Maison Noir. Nestled in seclusion below Table Mountain in Hout Bay, it provided a perfect home base for our day trips in the Cape Town region. It was only 20 minutes from Cape Town yet was a beautiful respite after all the activities we pursued during the day.
The property itself is stunning. Entering along a wooden boardwalk over koi ponds you arrive at the front door with a view across the hall to the pool and mountains. There are so many places just indoors to hang out....from the bright living room near the kitchen and dining room, to the cosy family room down the hall, to the cool lounge area outside the bedrooms, to the movie theatre or wine cellar in the basement. There were three beautiful bedrooms with loft areas for extra sleeping plus a huge master suite with fireplace and sitting area. Outside, there was another dining area, seating on a covered patio and by the pool, and a sweet meditation area. Everything was so well laid out, with fastidious attention to every detail..outdoor showers, open fireplaces, Africology bath products, fine linens, candles and fresh flowers everywhere, a little shop selling locally made products, a pre-stocked fridge and bar, and a fabulous coffee maker.
Albie and his staff were fantastic. No request was too small and he was a joy to communicate with about our needs, even before our arrival. The staff knew how to balance taking care of us, with leaving us to feel like we had the house to ourselves. The house and property were spotless.
We used Maison Noir's 12 passenger Mercedes Sprinter and driver for excursions. This made planning much easier. It was a very comfortable ride and Yves was an excellent driver. Maison Noir will kindly make arrangements for activities if you like.
We chose to hire Charisse, the most fabulous chef, to make five dinners for us. After a busy day out touring, it was such a treat to come back to beautiful Maison Noir and unwind while smelling the aromas of Charisse's cooking. She worked with us beforehand to plan each three course meal. She did not disappoint at all! Her passion about food is tasted in every bite.
In Hout Bay itself there are amenities like restaurants and shops. We particularly enjoyed the Friday night market where you could purchase delicious local food from assorted booths, sit at communal tables and then shop for locally made handicrafts!
We highly recommend Maison Noir and cannot wait to return!
what an amazing property and a perfect oasis for us to rest and regroup with family and friends. beautifully decorated, pristine linens, oh and the outdoor showers in ea room...what a treat! Charisse and her team went out of there way to accommodate all of us. there knowledge of Cape Town and what it has to offer, winery's, restaurants, site seeing, special events etc, was beyond helpful and they arranged everything. the food at the villa was absolutely devine and beautifully prepared. whether you are a world traveler or looking for a special place to share with family and/or friends, Maison Noir is on the top of our list. we will be back. k and e
Spectacular home close to everything!
If you are planning on visiting Cape Town, you have to stay at Maison Noir. Set in a quiet neighborhood, nestled at the rear of Table Mountain with stunning mountain views, this home has every amenity and is much better than any 5 star hotel. It is just minutes from beaches, hiking trails and great restaurants and about 20 minutes from downtown Cape Town.
The home is architecturally STUNNING and feels like a luxury, boutique hotel. The large communal spaces are perfect for larger groups but there are numerous areas throughout the home that are private and intimate. There are four amazing bedroom suites, three essentially similar but with different motifs; each with a private loft area and en-suite bathroom with outdoor rainfall shower. The master suite has breath taking mountain views with a private beach and outdoor Jacuzzi.
The staff is wonderful and dedicated to catering to your every need. Charisse, the house manager, is not only the best host, but she is also an amazing chef. If you decide to eat-in, breakfast, lunch or dinner, she will definitely not disappoint you with her culinary talents.
Our stay at Maison Noir was not just wonderful, it was truly AMAZING. My partner and I travel often and this home is truly one of the loveliest places we've ever stayed. We can’t wait to book our next vacation here. Many thanks to everyone at Maison Noir for making our stay perfect!
Set directly adjacent to Table Mountain National Park, there is pristine forest & splendid nature on the door step of Maison Noir - not to mention the gorgeous Hout Bay and Llandudno beaches just a short distance away. Shopping, dining & clubbing in Cape Town's historic city centre can be reached in less than half an hour's drive through beautiful scenery. The best restaurants in South Africa and oldest wine estates are within the same distance and some even closer...
