I just spent a week in Yogyakarta, based from the Diamond Villa. Overall we had a great time. There are four separate villas in this complex, plus a gatehouse where staff can be found 24 hours a day. Overall the place was fun and relaxing. The pool was very refreshing. The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. However be aware that some features one might expect in a European or American vacation home will be lacking. The kitchen has a two-burner stove and a handful of cook pots, but no oven, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, paper products, storage containers or condiments. Bring some spices, salt and pepper from home! The lavatories in the bathroom only have cold water. No problem -- the shower has exceedingly hot water available. so I would just fit a pot in order to shave! Note that the listing indicates a hot tub, but if one was there, I never found it. By the way, we hired a car and driver for the week, and it was worth it. Yogyakarta is not a very walkable city -- the shops and businesses spill out the front and over the sidewalks, and any remaining open spaces are crammed with parked scooters!
