Relax and enjoy the view over fountain lake. Our front yard opens into beautiful Byrd Park. Walking distance to cafes, bars, and shopping, and only one mile from VCU. Easy access to everywhere in the city and highways.
Take a stroll through the park or jog through the vita-trail exercise course and across the river and back. In warm weather, you can stroll through the gardens by the Maymont mansion and zoo, or swim or kayak in the James river and explore its riverbank trails.
Inside our condo: one bedroom has a queen size bed, another has a full size mattress. There is a jack/jill bathroom between them with shower and bathtub. The kitchen includes oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and washer/dryer unit. While there is no TV, there is a projector that can connect to your laptop and put a large image on a wall. (Please let me know if you would like me to have the projector ready for you.)
Perch by the bar to watch the cook, or lounge by the panoramic bay windows to people-watch, read, play records or gaze at the fountain and ducks in the lake.
Richmond is the river city and it has a lot to offer. All four seasons are beautiful.
I'm proud of the many local breweries that have popped up in adjoining neighborhoods, adding to the thriving restaurant, cafe, and bar scene.
The VMFA (VA musuem of fine arts) has an impressive collection shown in a magnificent building, with a tasty cafe and restaurant offering easy or fine dining. It is just half a mile away.
If you drive, there is plenty of parking on the streets just in front of the condo. It is very convenient getting on and off the highways, and to anywhere you want to go. But you could also just walk over to a cafe. I'll give you a map with local places pinpointed.
Are you a civil war buff? Then Richmond is a must-see. We have so many historical sites and museums, I shouldn't even get started...
I'll also mention some things here that may or may not be an issue for visitors:
- A couple of guests have mentioned that they can hear the upstairs neighbors walking across their floor/our ceiling. If you are a light sleeper, you might consider earplugs or a white noise machine. (I have also mentioned this issue to my neighbors, who are very friendly.)
- The hot water heater puts out enough for one full shower, but needs a little time to refill before the next one. Use the hot water conservatively when showering and stagger your shower schedule, and there shouldn't be any problem.
- There is no TV. (I just can't stand the commercials!) But you shouldn't have any trouble watching movies or internet content with a large image on the wall using my projector. I sometimes take the projector elsewhere, so let me know if you would like to have it during your stay.
I'm always accessible via phone and text messaging. Let me know what I can do to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable!
I'm a university professor. I love art, music, philosophy, and literature, and my beautiful wife.
Owner/ Property Manager purchased this condo in 2012
Richmond is a wonderful place to live, and I think my condo is the best place to live in Richmond. It is peaceful, beautiful, spacious, and adjoins large swaths of green park space with grand trees and wild geese on the lakes. Also, it is conveniently placed between the commercial offerings in Carytown and the Fan, and the natural beauty of Maymont and the James river, as well as near VCU.
What I love most about my condo is the view - you can see the fountain in the lake from any room in the condo. I love sitting in the sunroom and playing records, or taking a stroll outside to see the sun set.
I'm late in doing this review, but wanted to take a moment and write a quick review. This townhome was a wonderful stay. Perfect location. I'm so glad we opted to stay here instead of a hotel. Andrew was a perfect host and helped in anyway he could. You can't go wrong with staying here!
My two girlfriends and I met up for a fun weekend in Richmond and we stayed at this lovely condo. It had everything we needed: towels and sheets, dishes for cooking breakfast, three beds, and a clean bathroom. The checkin/out procedure was super easy and the owner provided detailed instructions for everything. Only minor annoyance was the neighbor's two dogs barking when the neighbor left them home alone. Thanks for offering your home to VRBOers!
We rented this condo for a seminar weekend. It was comfortable, close to everything you would want to do. It faces a small lake that had a nice walking path. The next door neighbor was friendly and gave us lots of tips on things to do. There is no TV in the condo, but who needs one with so much to do in the area and the beautiful view. Andrew, the owner, was even so nice as to mail us back a favorite pair of shoes my husband left by accident. We would highly recommend this rental.
Our family stayed at this place for a few days over the winter holiday. It was clean, comfortable and in a great location. It's located directly across from a lake with a nice walking path and is central to many destinations in the city. We even took a day trip to Jamestown. The owner was very responsive and helpful, providing us with a detailed map of destinations/restaurants around the city. He also was able to secure complementary tickets to one of the museums for us. It was our first time visiting Richmond and our family, which includes one tween, two teens and a dog, had a great time. Our dog especially enoyed our evening walks around the lake.
