A Great Place To Stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I loved the our apartment in Mark's brownstone house. We give it 5 stars.

Mark met us on our arrival and was available, if we needed him, which we did not, because everything was taken care.

Our first and last words to Mark was we will be back next year.

Relaxing and roomy!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. It's a beautiful apartment (as pictured) very conveniently located and roomy enough for the four of us (adults). Just a few steps away from Central Park, Natural History Museum, eateries, the subway and more. The little deck out the back is really a nice extra. And, as others have mentioned, it's really a quiet location too. We'll be back.

Very Nice Apartment In A Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently returned from a three-week stay at this apartment. As frequent visitors to the city, and regular users of VRBO, we both agree that this property was ideal. The separate bedroom - this is not a glorified studio, it's a true one-bedroom - was comfortable with plenty of storage for our clothes. There were lamps and night tables on both sides of the bed! The A/C, which we needed, cooled the room quickly and efficiently. The living room was spacious. The TV system provided more channels than we could have asked for. The A/C - a completely different unit than the one in the bedroom - was equally strong. The best part of the apartment was the bathroom. It's new and bright with a powerful shower. My wife loved the light when it came time for her to do hair and make-up. (She said women would appreciate this comment.) Because we didn't cook anything other than breakfast (cold cereal, oatmeal, coffee) we were not bothered by the tiny kitchen/limited counter space. For someone wanting to cook in, this could be an issue.

During our stay, we had two minor issues that required attention. Because Mark and his family (the owner) live in the building, he was at our door within minutes and handled the issues. Having him on premises is a great plus.

The apartment couldn't have been located in a better neighborhood. Central Park is literally steps from the door. The subway - we wore out our MetroCards - was less than a block away. One and two avenues to the west (Columbus and Amsterdam) offer a myriad of restaurant choices. To stock the apartment with basic food staples, go to Gristede's on Columbus between 84th and 85th; no more than a five to ten minute walk. For a true New York food experience, head to Zabar's (Broadway and 80th Street) or Barney Greengrass (Amsterdam between 86th and 87th). We brought in salads and the like for dinner when we didn't feel like going to a restaurant. West Side Wines on the southeast corner of Columbus 83rd is not only very close by (the apartment is on 82nd Street) but the owner is friendly and knowledgeable.

Overall, a very nice apartment in a perfect location.

Great place

  • 5 of 5

Had a great week at our "home" in NYC. It was such a great neighborhood to walk, dine, and get quick items from many neighborhood grocery stores. It was a close walk to Central Park and subways. Could not ask for a better place for our stay in NYC. Love it so much. Thanks for the owners for their availability if we needed it.

Apartment at 82nd and Central Park West

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is wonderfully located for Manhattan West siders, and our host was most gracious in attending to our needs. He even provided us with a bottle of wine, which was very thoughtful of him. The apartment is spacious for two adults and only one flight up stairs. We were able to walk to Zabar's and other restaurants (try Cotta), and very close to the C/B subway line (one block) and just a short walk to the Number 1 line off Broadway and 79th streets. The apartment was very clean and neat, and we even purchased an espresso maker and two espresso cups to add to the kitchen. All in all, a great place to stay in NYC, and we previously lived in the upper west side during my sabbatical.
