A charming guest room in Bernal Heights, complete with a private entrance, compact fridge, microwave, convection/toaster oven, Keurig coffee maker, Sleep Number bed with dual side firmness controls and a heated mattress pad. WiFi included with streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime, Pandora and other Roku media.
Enjoy your stay in the guest bunk and take in some fresh air at nearby Bernal Hill Park with great views of the City. Do a quick load of laundry on-site. The breakfast nook is stocked with plates, silverware, and coffee/tea. The private bathroom is modest-sized, yet includes a tile surround shower, hair dryer, and guest towels.
Ample street parking is available in this area of Bernal. This is a great location. One minute drive to 280 and 101 freeways. Just steps away from multiple city buses and a 7-minute bus to 24th Street BART stops on the block.
SF classics include the SF JAZZ Center or Beach Blanket Babylon for uproarious musical comedy. For more ideas, let me know your interests when you book your stay. The space is in a two story house and the Guest Bunk is on the first floor. Let us know if you want to arrange a swap. We will be nearby if you need anything.
I have lived in San Francisco since 1994. I also love the place I grew up - Colorado. This is a an amazing town and the Bay Area has so many diverse microclimates and microcultures that there is always something to explore!
These are my five month old kittens and co-managers: Chester & Tyler. Let me know if you want to meet them during your stay.

I bought this Bernal property because the village feeling with access to the City's attractions provides a harmonious balance. We like to think of the guest bunk as a pied–à–terre for our family, friends, and guest travelers.
This is a great location. See this map of nearby attractions and let me know if you have any questions. Walk score 88 and excellent transit
I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the neighborhood surroundings. This was a perfect fit for me and felt like a home away from home.
The Guest Bunk was perfect for us. The room had plenty of space to accommodate at least two people. It was clean and included everything we needed for an extended holiday weekend. All instructions provided were perfect. The owner texted to make sure we arrived and that everything was OK. She was also responsive to any questions we had.
Bernal Heights is a very walkable neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. If you don't mind a bit of a hike, you can get to the Mission District by foot, too. There are multiple bus stops right there at the intersection where the Bunk is located. When we went to Oakland for a football game, we took a short bus ride to the Glen Park BART station to catch a train to O.Co. On the way back home, we actually walked back from Glen Park station to the Bunk instead of taking the bus. It only took about 30 minutes.
The place is also conveniently located for driving off to other adventures. It takes less than five minutes to hop onto I-280 or US 101.
For nearby dining: We enjoyed breakfast at Red Cafe (about a 30 minute walk up Mission), dinner at Vega on Cortland (10 minute walk - get a reservation!), dinner delivery from Little Nepal on Cortland, and beers at Barebottle also on Cortland. If you plan to cross the Golden Gate Bridge, check out Copita in Sausalito for lunch.
One tip: Make sure you also hike up the hill to Bernal Heights park, especially in the morning. You may see "Bonnie" the local coyote. She was out hunting on the north side of the hill when we were on our way back from Red Cafe. The easiest way to get there from the Bunk is straight uphill (north) on Gates Street. At the end of Gates is a staircase that leads right up to the park. You can follow the road or take any of numerous trails to the top.
Another tip: If you have a car, parking can get a little tight by evening after commuters return home. When there wasn't space right by the Guest Bunk, we were able to find spots on Banks and Prentiss about a block and a half uphill from Crescent - on either side of Paul Revere Elementary. Just make sure you are aware of the posted street sweeping days/times.
Great place! If we get back to San Francisco any time soon, we'd definitely stay at Guest Bunk again.
We stayed at the Bernal Guest house while visiting our son who lives in San Francisco. It was perfect for our traveling needs. We just needed a place to sleep and it was clean and comfortable. Although we fit 4 people, I would recommend that you stick to 2 guests because it was a little tight for 4. That being said, we only slept there. There is a mini-fridge, keurig, microwave and convection if you want to cook quick, easy food. The owner, Diane was very helpful and accommodating. I would stay here again during a visit to San Francisco.
Loved the location in the local neighborhood of Bernal Heights.
Accommodations were perfect for 3 of us.
The suite was very clean with enough amenities as well as wifi and Netflix. Convenient access to public transportation. Diane was great. She responds to any questions very quickly. Seating area was very comfortable. The beds were also very comfortable. Overall a very enjoyable stay. I will certainly return in future visits to San Francisco.
We had 5 nights here. The place is nice, clean and quiet. It is in a nice location, Saturday morning farmers market is worth a visit a 5 minutes away. There is a number of shops, bars and restaurants nearby. Public transport is close and efficient. Having washing machine is handy. I'd stay here again.
The guest bunk is located in the #1 neighborhood anywhere (according to Redfin). It also intersects other walkable and thriving areas: Noe Valley, the Mission, Potrero. You will love the convenience to access San Francisco combined with a small village feel at your place.
