Overview

About the property

Newly renovated 2 bed/2 bath with private patio in the heart of the quarter

The French Quarter is the place to be. If you want to be in the middle of all the action but able to escape to peace, quiet and tranquility, search no further as my Nola pad is the place for you. You are steps to everything-Royal, Bourbon, French Market, River, Jackson Square, Cafe du Monde, Irene's, Central Market, Frenchmen Street and much more- but nestled away so you don't hear the party of the quarter when you are in the unit. Save your money and don't rent a car as you won't need it. In the morning sit outside or open your windows and be taken away by the sounds of the jazz music coming from the French Market, the Jackson Square Cathedral Bells and the River Steamboat Whistles. Enjoy the neighborhood balconies filled with luscious green gardens.

My nola pad was recently renovated; the building dates back to the 1800's. The developer went very authentic to the region. It is a true 2 bed (queen and double) 2 bath (shower and shower/tub combo) with very comfortable mattresses. The unit has gorgeous cypress floors and wood work throughout. The cathedral ceiling makes this 650 ft2 unit feel extra roomy. You will love the iron work as well as the decorative fleur de lis. The bathroom floors are river rock and provide a nice massage to your feet. Enjoy the bar. You have a fully stocked kitchen if you choose to cook. Enjoy the Keurig with assortment of Community Coffee, and a tea selection. You also have washer and dryer with detergent available for your use. There is lots of closet space for your belongings. And the ladies will value the full-length mirrors. You have tv/DVD with cable/HBO and wireless internet for rainy days.

I decorated the unit with flare. The artwork is true to the region-total New Orleans. The caloche and pao prints came from their studio on royal street. The artwork in the kitchen and 2nd bedroom is a replica of a few local artist. The curvy couch and Madame Moiselle lamp pull it all together. And Rex (antique Daschund) is the protector of the property.

The unit has its own private patio with a luscious garden, wall art, wind chimes and colorful outdoor lights for your relaxation and enjoyment.

About H Shea

I am a Louisiana native. After moving away, I realized how much I missed NOLA-the people, the food and the culture- and decided to purchase a second home. I began my search, and, after 6 months, I happened upon my NOLA Pad. I am excited to share my second home with you. I hope you learn to love the city, the food, the people and the culture as much as I do.

H Shea purchased this condo in 2014

Why H Shea chose Downtown

The French Quarter is the place to be. I wanted to be in the middle of all the action but able to escape to peace, quiet and tranquility. And I found it in this property. You are close to everything, but nestled away so you don't hear the party of the quarter when you are in the unit. In the morning sit outside or open your windows and be taken away by the sounds of the jazz music coming from the French Market, the Cathedral Bells and the Steamboat Whistles. In my opinion this is the most beautiful section of the quarter with the balconies filled with luscious green gardens.

My property was recently renovated; the building dates back to the 1800's. The developer went very authentic to the region. The unit has gorgeous cypress floors and wood work throughout. The cathedral ceiling makes this 650 ft2 unit feel extra roomy. You will love the iron work as well as the decorative fleur de lis. The bathroom floors are river rock and provide a nice massage to your feet.

When I am in the unit in my cozy pillowtop bed or relaxing on the curvy couch, I feel like I am on a retreat away from everything. But then step out and the adventures begin. You are close to everything French Quarter-restaurants, bars, art studios, river, Jackson Square, Central Grocery, you name it. This area is very safe, and you will feel safe walking home at night- always practice caution in any city at night, especially if alone.

What makes this condo unique

The location is where I want to be in the French Quarter. Parking is conveniently located along the river if you have a car, but you really don't need one. Save money on parking and car rental as you won't use it. You have your own private patio which is very rare. Able to escape to peace and quiet while being in the middle of everything. The neighbors are low key and nice folks-no drama. Newly renovated with very authentic features. I love the loft bedroom with the cathedral ceilings, wood work and exposed brick walls.

Another great time in NOLA!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time at the same property & we love it. It's convenient on the edge of the quarter and all attractions can be walked to. You're at Trolly away from the World War II Memorial and a $6 UBER to the Superdome are the basketball stadium. Also you can grab the double-decker tour bus seeing all the sites in the area including the Garden District and Lafayette Cemetery. Just next door is Mr. B Bar and Grill a quiet local place not a lot of tourists great for a quick Bloody Mary or afternoon cocktail. Just around the corner on Decatur about a 1 minute walk is where the muffalata was invented, we grab these almost immediately when we get there to have in the condo. 1 door down pass the bar is a corner restaurant very delicious seafood and crawfish when in season. And just across Decatur one more location down as a cafe style restaurant wood breakfast lunch and dinner.

The unit itself is very private, you have a steel security gate at the street that gets you into a small courtyard. Once in that courtyard it opens up to a stone Terrace with some tables and a private wall that separates you from other units. The unit itself then has locking wood doors plus locking inner doors. The interior is very neat the pictures that you can find do it justice. We find it to be more than etiquette for two adults and two teenage children. Has extra bedding, the property owner has an air mattress on-site. The amenities are what you would expect modern, clean and well-appointed. When available and we're not taking more than 4 people this is our go to property.

If you like to sleep in darkness closing the window shutters creates a nighttime feel all day long.

Lastly I like that the property owner and the surrounding property owners care about the French Quarter and understand there's a difference between people going to the quarter for the history and atmosphere versus just those going for Bourbon Street. If you're taking in the whole quarter and other sites in the city this is a fabulous property for you.

Perfect French Quarter Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our NOLA weekend stay was great. The condo was perfect for two couples. It is very tastefully decorated with attention to details and has the newest appliances, etc. The beds are really comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful courtyard. Everything was just as stated and Heidi was very accommodating; responding in a timely manner to our correspondences. The location is in the heart of the French Quarter and within easy walking distance to great restaurants, shopping, etc. We will definitely stay at this location again!

The French Quarter is the place to be. If you want to be in the middle of all the action but able to escape to peace, quiet and tranquility, my NOLA Pad is the place for you. The unit is a true 2 bed/2 bath with a full kitchen and appliances. Enjoy the Kuerig and Community Coffee selection. The unit comes with fresh towels and linens. A washer/dryer are available for your use. The unit also has a wall mounted flat screen tv with dvd and cable. Enjoy HBO on rainy days! There is no phone service in the unit. In addition to the security of the gated entry and shutters, the unit also has a monitored security system.

The unit has its own private patio with a luscious garden, wall art, wind chimes and colorful outdoor lights for your relaxation and enjoyment.

If you choose to drive, parking is conveniently located along the river. But there is no need for a car as you can walk everywhere in the quarter and take the taxi or street car if you venture outside the quarter. Save yourself some money and say no to the car.
