Located on the old walls of Sancerre, this home enjoys all the amenities of a vibrant town with the views, privacy and gardens of a country villa. Walk out the front door for fantastic bakeries, restaurants, wine shops, historic sites, and friendly locals. Open the windows and patio doors for expansive views of the Loire river, vineyards, farmland and the home's garden. Set up on three levels, the house comfortably sleeps five. The entry, well-appointed kitchen, dining room, living room with fireplace, master bedroom and bathroom are located on the main level. Two additional bedrooms are on the upper level. The lower level opens to the garden and has a recreation room. Parking is provided with a small attached garage as well as street parking.
We are an American family, living in the San Francisco Bay Area. We fell in love with Sancerre when we came to attend the french school, Coeur de France, and couldn't resist the sweet home on the wall of the old city with the amazing views of the Loire. We visit whenever we can, and have found the village, the vineyards, the Loire, and the people to be even more wonderful than we could have imagined.

Sancerre offers the best of France. Gorgeous countryside, inspiring architecture, vibrant village life, delicious wine and food and an unending supply of activities. This is a real living town with an economy based on agriculture, viticulture, education and tourism. The grocery stores, restaurants, public parks, and shops are all used by locals who demand high quality goods and services.
Generous lawn and gardens for dining and relaxing.
Spectacular views from every room.
Well appointed cooks kitchen.
Right down the street (2 minute walk) from main market square with shops, bakeries, restaurants, bars and wineries.
Cozy home with enough space for privacy and a feeling of spaciousness.
My wife and I stayed in Maison Verte in August 2016. The house is situated on a ridge in the medieval hilltop town of Sancerre. Although we had seen pictures of the house, when we arrived and opened the back doors leading to the terrace, we were stunned by the beautiful view of the valley below. It truly is extraordinary. The house itself is very clean, comfortable and well appointed. We had everything we needed, and the property guide was very useful. The town of Sancerre itself is also quite pleasant, with excellent restaurants and a few interesting boutiques and wine shops. (Do try Alphonse Mellot and Domaine Vacheron). We enjoyed several hikes through the vineyards and of course, the very excellent Sancerre wines in the nearby villages. (For lunch or dinner, we recommend a couple of our favorites Le Laurier in Saint Satur & Au Petit Gouter in Chavignol. The Boulay cheese shop is also not to be missed). My wife is from the area and so we come at least once a year to Sancerre: it is a completely different experience to stay in such a beautiful house vs. a B&B. One of the highlights of our stay was a candlelight dinner on the back deck as we watched the stars come out. We highly recommend a stay at Maison Verte--you won't be disappointed. We hope to return.
I really loved it here. I spend a week doing taking an French course at coeur de France and it was the perfect location. I only had to walk 3 minutes to get there
