Come to the heart of the Hill Country in Fredericksburg...a place you can unwind from the city life. The fresh air and the star gazing are magnificent. The 'Roost' is a 400 square ft. cabin with a king sized bed downstairs and a queen sized in the loft area. The cabin sleeps four. There is a bar to dine at or take your food to the front porch and enjoy your meal outside while you watch the sunset.

Set the coffee maker to brew your java so that when your breakfast arrives between 8:30-9:00 am you are ready to experience heaven...Ask about the Angel Biscuits. Yes, this a real Bed & BREAKFAST, no coupons for fast food!

The cabin has a Kitchenette which includes fridge and microwave. It also has a flat screen TV, a video player and an assortment of videos. May have satellite in the near future.

About Ida Y Patterson

My wife Ida and I relocated to Fredericksburg Texas from the Dallas area a little over three years ago and thoroughly enjoy living in the heart of the hill country.

Ida, is such a creative and fantastic cook and consummate hostess it was pre-determined we would have a B&B...or two.

I had worked in the printing industry over 30 years and saw the attrition in the business and decided to do a career change to real estate in 2007...not the best timing but another good life experience. Bought and sold some houses and rehabbed quite a few. Wanting to do something a bit more creative I decided to use my graphics background and try my hand at making signs and plaques thus was born, you will see some of the work around the property!

Ida Y Patterson purchased this cabin in 2012

Perfect Hill Country Get-A-Way

We loved our stay at The Roost (one of the Cabins Out Back). The location was ideal - less than 10 minutes from Main Street in Fredericksburg. With the holiday week crowds in town, we were happy to have our cozy retreat. Our teenage daughter enjoyed the loft, so our family of three fit perfectly in the cabin. It was very nicely appointed and comfortable. The homemade breakfast each morning was outstanding. We loved watching the chickens as they pecked and ranged on the grounds around the cabin. Ida was kind enough to deliver our breakfast an hour and a half early on our departure day since we needed to leave for home early than anticipated. I can highly recommend this cabin if you are looking for a quiet location near the attractions of FBG.

Lovely cabin in peaceful serene setting.

Owner goes out of her way to assure her guests are comfortable. The cabin is very thoughtfully designed with great use of small spaces. The furnishings and linens are very nice. The breakfasts are homemade and delicious... such an upgrade and nice touch vs. the standard "breakfast" of pastries left on a doorstep in the Fredericksburg area B&B's. The air conditioner wasn't working correctly and Ida quickly called in an AC company who fixed the problem without delay. I highly recommend the "Roost" at "The Cabins Out Back"

I cannot say enough good things about my experience. The cabin was amazing! Everything was nice, new, and clean. It had a great rustic feel and the atmosphere was fantastic! The service was outstanding and the location was close to all of the downtown shops. The breakfast was absolutely unbelievable! I cannot say enough good things about my experience! I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Fredericksburg!

Great Rustic Cabin!

We had a great time staying in this cabin. It was perfect my husband and I and our 2 boys. The boys liked the loft, so they could get away with their electronics. I loved sitting on the porch feeding the chickens and petting the dogs. The cabin is 5 minutes from Fredricksburg's main street and a short drive to Enchanted Rock. On the drive into the neighborhood, we spotted deer, so you are really in the country.

The breakfasts were fantastic. The cabin had everything we needed and was very clean.

The cabin just oozes with charm!

My fiance and I spent the weekend at this charming retreat from the big city. We couldn't have felt more relaxed and comfortable in this little cabin, which has every small amenity before you even know you need it (extra towels, paper towels, etc. etc.). When we first arrived, a darling flock of chickens ran to greet us and eat little seeds from our hands. The bed was SO comfortable, and Ida's breakfast in the morning was better than any hotel meal you could ask for. The cabin is decorated so charmingly, you can't help but daydream about transforming your own home in its likeness. We can't wait to return to this cabin and made very precious memories there! A must see.

Beautiful rustic looking on the outside but everything you need on the inside. Loved all the details put into the decoration on the inside. Slept great on the king comfy bed with posh linens. Ida brought our gourmet breakfast every morning via golf gart. She is an awesome lady and boy can she cook. We also loved all the free range chickens.

Thanks for a perfect weekend for my husbands birthday!

Fredericksburg, Texas always has something going on in town. We have a Christmas Parade that is huge and it is at night!...Have to see it to believe it when you have live longhorn steers with lights on their horns being ridden down Main Street in December.

A favorite with lots of visitors is the winery tours, many folks opt to let someone else do the driving while they sit back and enjoy the day. Did you know that the Fredericksburg area is second in wineries only to Napa Valley, California?

If you like the outdoors and an occasional hike up a solid granite dome check out Enchanted Rock Park, beautiful views and a nice way to spend a day...only 17 miles from our cabins north on Hwy. 16.

Our two cabins are on the back of our property and we are only 5 miles from downtown FBG, so you can enjoy the activities in town or in the surrounding areas and come back home and enjoy the peace and quiet of 'The Cabins Out Back'.
