About Ida Y Patterson

My wife Ida and I relocated to Fredericksburg Texas from the Dallas area a little over three years ago and thoroughly enjoy living in the heart of the hill country.

Ida, is such a creative and fantastic cook and consummate hostess it was pre-determined we would have a B&B...or two.

I had worked in the printing industry over 30 years and saw the attrition in the business and decided to do a career change to real estate in 2007...not the best timing but another good life experience. Bought and sold some houses and rehabbed quite a few. Wanting to do something a bit more creative I decided to use my graphics background and try my hand at making signs and plaques thus was born, you will see some of the work around the property!

Ida Y Patterson purchased this cabin in 2012

Absolutely perfect!

As soon as you pull in the driveway you notice how clean & well kept this property is. Between the big beautiful trees and all the wildlife, you feel like you are miles and miles into the country. It is peaceful and quite. But, main street is only 5 minutes away! Just perfect for going and coming. We stayed in "The Roost". As soon as you open the door to the cabin you are greeted with a clean and fresh smell & then you instantly notice how immaculate it is! Ida has perfectly arrange the cabin to get the most out of the square footage. Just perfect for a couple! It is beautifully decorated and the bed was super cozy. Everything we could have needed was found in the cabin. She even provided real shampoo and conditioner not the small, cheap bottles found in hotels. We enjoyed sitting outside in the evenings and mornings watching a variety of wildlife. Deer were our favorite. We went from front to back porch to enjoy both views. If mosquitoes or bugs are not your thing the back porch is screened so it is always comfortable! The breakfast served each morning was absolutely delicious. My husband is an extremely picky eater and he enjoyed everything served. Ida really put thought into her breakfast and most of all, love. You could taste it and see it in her presentation. She and her husband were super friendly and we enjoyed our visits with them each morning when they delivered our breakfast. Sweet couple and lovely place. We will definitely come back if given the chance.

These cabins exceeded every expectation that I could've ever imagined. The cabin itself was so cute! The bed was the perfect softness and the pillows were fluffy and soft. The porch was also amazing to sit on and eat the AMAZING breakfast brought to you each morning. Ida and Bill were so friendly and their dogs were adorable. I couldn't say enough good things about our experience. I hope to be back very soon to stay there once again.

Quiet well kept cabin 5 minutes from Fredericksburg downtown

  • 5 of 5

Ida and Bill have a great cabin set in the back of their property. Very quiet, peaceful and superb front porch with rocking chairs. Spent our mornings drinking coffee while watching our daughter chase chickens and pups, and evenings listening to the sounds of birds as the sun set. Ida cheerfully dropped off breakfast each morning - delicious and beautiful meals. Highly recommend visiting.

Darling Cabin and lovely hosts

  • 5 of 5

Most important to me, the cabin was CLEAN. It was decorated very cute and had everything in it that we needed. The hosts were warm and caring and brought us a delicious breakfast each morning. This was a very comfortable place to stay and we hope to come again sometime. The hosts were easy to work with, even though this was my first rental and I didn't know what I was doing. It was nice waking up to watch the chickens and the little dogs running the property. It was located just a few minutes from downtown. It was a very quiet location.

Perfect stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time here, the cabin was just the right size for us and the scenery was beautiful. Charming chickens welcomed you each morning as we drank our morning coffee on the porch. (If chickens aren't your thing there is some "repellant" aka water spray to deter them away) The location of the cabin was also perfect, far enough away to miss the noise of traffic but close enough to town as we got there in about 10minutes or less. The bed was very comfy and we enjoyed watching Netflix at night before bed. The breakfast served to us each morning was delicious and the hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We would recommend this to any couple or group of friends who would like to visit Fredericksburg. We want to go back again soon!!

Nearest Airport
8 Miles
Gillespie County
Car: recommended

Fredericksburg, Texas always has something going on in town. We have a Christmas Parade that is huge and it is at night!...Have to see it to believe it when you have live longhorn steers with lights on their horns being ridden down Main Street in December.

A favorite with lots of visitors is the winery tours, many folks opt to let someone else do the driving while they sit back and enjoy the day. Did you know that the Fredericksburg area is second in wineries only to Napa Valley, California?

If you like the outdoors and an occasional hike up a solid granite dome check out Enchanted Rock Park, beautiful views and a nice way to spend a day...only 17 miles from our cabins north on Hwy. 16.

Our two cabins are on the back of our property and we are only 5 miles from downtown FBG, so you can enjoy the activities in town or in the surrounding areas and come back home and enjoy the peace and quiet of 'The Cabins Out Back'.
