Beautiful, quiet, relaxing and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at the Guesthouse at The Farm! The house was beautiful, modern and clean and the setting was peaceful and relaxing. We stayed there for a wedding nearby and wished we had more time to spend at the property. Our 14 month old and 4 year old thoroughly enjoyed the chickens, Henry the rooster and the homing pigeons - we would have loved to have seen them released but the timing just didn't work out. This property was close to the redwoods and the beaches - would love to be able to stay again. Thank you George and Shannon!

A Wonderful Guesthouse

  • 5 of 5

George and Shannon have put together a beautiful guesthouse in Sonoma. My wife and I went there on our honeymoon and would recommend it to anyone traveling to the vine-growing region of California. When we arrived, the guesthouse was immaculately clean. We loved the spacious shower, well-maintained garage, and beautiful kitchen space. George and Shannon were excellent hosts: they were unobtrusive but always quick to answer any questions we had.

Wonderful stay at the Guest House on the Farm

  • 5 of 5

First let me say that we would certainly recommend the Guest House on the Farm to everyone. We were welcomed with soft music playing and fresh flowers on the coffee table and by the bed. The house was very clean and comfortable and the amenities were over and above what is the norm. We were provided with fresh eggs, juice, english muffins and other breakfast fixings. What a treat! The Guest House is conveniently located to numerous sights, winery's, and town. The owner's, George and Shannon were friendly and helpful and wonderful hosts. We are already looking forward to our next stay.

Memorable Sonoma County Experience

  • 5 of 5

This is my first experience with a VRBO rental and it has been a nice one. Communication with the owners from the moment I inquired about the rental to the day I left it to go back home has been responsive, quick, and comfortable. I didn't meet Shannon while I was there, but George greeted me shortly after I arrived. The guesthouse was unlocked so I could enter the property without having to wait for someone to let me in. Music played quietly inside, which helped me in settling in. George showed me around the place, pointed out where things are kept and how gadgets worked. There were breakfast items and snacks in the kitchen and the bathroom was well stocked with items for at least the first day. Considering I drove for 10 hours to get to Sebastopol, if I had come in empty handed, there wouldn't have been any need to make a trip to the store that night. The guesthouse was very private, at a good distance away from the main house, with trees and the yard separating the two, so we didn't see or hear each other coming or going. It was well built, clean, and beautifully and comfortably furnished. George showed me the garden and gave me permission to pick what I wanted. Although it was only four miles from the center of town, it felt like a world away. Quiet rural roads surround it. For someone like me, who made the trip specifically to take in the pleasures of cycling, the area was heaven. I wasn't able to visit the famous vineyards because I was on my bike all day everyday, taking in as much riding as I could, knowing that there were so many infrequently traveled roads that offered pastoral views for me to enjoy. I was able to start all but one of my rides from the guest house, going on generally quiet roads with only a few miles of main highways to connect them. I believe I saw all the regions of the entire county by bike! The things that can be improved about this stay are minor, but I will mention them as such changes can make a difference: (1) A toaster oven instead of a traditional toaster would be preferable since the guesthouse doesn't have a range (stove/oven). A guest can reheat pizza or a sandwich, toast bread with cheese on it to melt, or roast veggies in a toaster oven but can't do so with a traditional toaster. (2) For a rental in wine country, this one sorely lacked a wine bottle opener. (3) The sizes of the bowls and plates were repetitive. It needs larger bowls for mixing. But overall, this rental is a gem, and I plan to come back next year.
