Como Vita is located in a store front directly in front of the lake. There is parking across from them. They have the keys to the flat. We were to meet with Tom and had called him an hour prior to our arrival. He never showed up but the young lady tried very hard to call him and ended up providing the keys and providing a receipt for the tourist tax. To find the flat follow the directions they provide to the gate. Once you enter the automatic gate(use the small key in the lock on the left side of the gate) you will need to drive the steep drive way to the top. Your garage is the 6th one from the left(including the three under ground). The flat is at the top of the stairs next to the garage. Their is a sign on the door for Como Vita.
First of all, the view is worth any issues with Como Vita, which were minor. The flat is a good size for 2-4 people, the kitchen has no issues, the bed is somewhat hard, the bathroom is large, and the balcony provides a great place to view the lake.
The minor issue I mentioned earlier were mostly overcome by Como Vita. The wifi does not work, the TV has no reception other than QVC, there was no hair dryer, and the clothes washer was blocked in by storage junk. Tom sent someone to bring us a mini IPad and hair dryer. The young man had no idea about the TV nor what to do with the IPad. My wife the IT professional turned on the hotspot feature and we had wifi for our iPads and computer through the Bluetooth.
Rick Steves mentioned Varenna as the Jewell of Lake Como but you will find the views and the people in Lenno much nicer. There is grocery shopping close by that is reasonable, many places to walk(we never took our car out of the garage), and take the day center lake pass for the ferry system and you go from Lenno to Menaggio, Bellagio, and Varenna. There is a beautiful Villa the offers a tour next to town.
Our exit was an annoyance to Tom as he refused to meet us at the flat and take his keys and iPad. I would gladly stay at this flat again provided I did not need to work with Tom.
We - a family with 2 children at 18 and 21 - had 11 very nice days here. A few notes:
1) The panoramic view from the balcony and all the rooms is fantastic. You will not find a better view to the lake any other place around the Lake Como.
2) The house is very fine with new furniture and interior. The location is fine - however we will recommend taking the car when leaving the house. It is a tough walk up to the house.
3) The town - Lenno - is nice with fine restaurants around the lake. And Lenno is located in the best and most interesting part of the lake.
4) There is a very nice beach in Lenno. It is small, but one of the best sand beaches around the lake.
Our best recommendations....
Lone & Lars
