Small, Cozy, warm, great location, away-from-it-all

  • 5 of 5

An affordable get-away, that truly makes you feel like you are away from it all. The owner communicates well and is very kind and understanding, would stay here again in the future.

Cozy & Quiet Retreat

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was absolutely adorable. We loved the decor, DVD selection, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook nice meals. The bathroom is beautifully updated and the bedroom is very cozy. The neighborhood was quiet and woodsy, so you felt like you were in a private mountain retreat. The only downside for us was that it was heavily snowing while we were there, and we do not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We were unable to get our car to climb the steep hill to get to the cabin the entire weekend, even with chains on our car (the chains actually broke off trying to climb the hill). Thankfully, we ran into some very kind neighbors who let us park in their driveway at the bottom of the hill and who gave us a ride to unload all of our bags. It made it very difficult to get into town and to and from the ski resort all weekend long. If you don't have 4 wheel drive and are planning to visit while it is snowing, I would reconsider. Aside from that, this place is perfect, and the property manager Michelle is very sweet and accommodating. I would highly recommend this cabin!

It was a lovely little get away

  • 5 of 5

This is a super cute house in a great location. It was perfect for our family of three and dog. The house is well maintained and very warm. They have a great selection of movies if you choose to watch any. The cookware is a little on the scarce side, so if you like to cook or will be cooking all your meals in the house, I suggest bringing your own. We will definitely be coming back to "The Nest"!

Quaint Cabin but.....

  • 3 of 5

We were really looking forward to a relaxing, quiet stay. We've been here before and the cabin is a good value with adequate amenities. Upon arrival, early at 230, Asst Mngr Paul & 2 children were finishing up and said return at 3, check in time. We went to Jensen's for a few supplies & returned after 3. After we offloaded wood, cooler, etc hubby discovered the kitchen was not acceptably clean. Cell signal was zip, unable to call Manager & getting dark, we began process of cleaning old food out of frig, cleaning stove top, counters, sink, dish drainer, dishes, pot and pan. We found items in cupboards that had been used & not clean at all. Not the welcome we had hoped for as we began our vacation. We also found cleanliness issues in bathroom as well. We later found only one wash cloth was provided and house inventory items such as rugs, pillows, blankets, etc. were not there. With a deep clean, reorganizing kitchen & replacing old kitchen items used to cook and eat with, the cabin will be a good, cozy place to spend time. Another issue we had was the snow mob that invaded the property, 2 empty lots on either side(not sure if part of property) and the wash across the street. On our last day, Returning from breakfast in town we were greeted by dozens of cars blocking our entry and about 100 people & their pets, roaming and playing all around the cabin! Some within a couple feet of the cabin seemed to set up for the day. It was unsettling to have so many rude people looking in the windows, or just outside the front door & when they finally dispersed, they left trash, broken toys, dirty diapers and dog poo in our area, not to mention how the trampled over our quiet retreat, ruining our own snow experience. This was from 10am to well after dark and calls by neighbors to sheriff brought a CHP cruiser about 730pm, well after crowd had left. If you are there after a fresh snow or weekend & you have orange cones, bring them and be prepared to shoo folks out of driveway & yard. We didn't have these problems last time. Owner did offer compensation of 10% discount on a future reservation. Wish our stay had been better.

Cozy, comfortable cabin in a beautiful neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Never having used VRBO before, I wasn't sure what to expect when I booked this cabin for 2 nights after a foot of snow fell in Wrightwood. It was like being in a Christmas card! Blew us away. Fireplace made it extra cozy but there is also gas heat for more efficient climate control, and tons of plug-in space heaters privided. Window AC unit. A queen bed in the bedroom and a daybed in the main area both had amazing memory foam mattresses. Huge walk-in closet. The bathroom had a massive walk-in shower, and the kitchen was fully stocked with gas stove/oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, plates/cups/etc. The overall feel is quite rustic, but with modern niceties like electricity, hot water, satellite TV, and aassice library of DVD movies.

Tips for travelers: Bring bath toiletries (none provided), disposable plates and utensils (the ones they had were plentiful but it is just easier), and firewood if you want a fire. There were random groceries left in the fridge by previous renters, which was unexpected, but there is a market in town so you can get anything you need.

This place was the perfect spot for a private hideaway with access to our "own" snow ;-) We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
