We had a wonderful time! Everyone was happy and we all really enjoyed staying close to the water. The mosquitoes were a little bothersome in the evenings but other than that it was all good.
I was very pleased with the cabin and George was very pleasant and helpful with all of the details.I will contact you later in August to see if the cabin will be available for another trip. There was so much snow at Crater Lake that I could not go down to the water and fish.
Thank you again for everything!
We stayed at the cabin for one month. We found the cabin in need of a thorough cleaning inside and out. The cabin is very nicely decorated and comfortable. However, it needs updating, maintenance, and some repair.
"Cabin clean". Not spotless but the essentials were clean. Lots of bugs, but not the biting kind.
About 40-45 minutes from the South gate to Crater Lake.
Not many local restaurants to chose from. (Casino is very smokey!)
Nice views over the river, but the otters were being shy when we were there and did not show themselves :(
First of all, John was great to work with. He answered questions promptly and was very upfront about the features of the cabin. Myself, my two year old son, and 3 of my friends (age 26) loved this place for a girls get away. We rented the cabin to be close to Crater Lake which was only about 30-45 mins away from the cabin. At first, we thought we would be out in the middle of nowhere in this cabin, but we had plenty of neighbors and the place was fairly easy to find. The cabin was clean, the beds were comfy, and the living room/kitchen had large windows allowing for a beautiful view of the river outside. We enjoyed making s'mores in the the fire pit as well! I would caution the next guests to keep the doors closed at all times! And, close them fast! There were soooo many bugs outside (since the cabin is right on the river) and we made the mistake of accidentally leaving the screen cracked and came inside to hundreds of little bugs all over the walls. Also, we didn't get groceries before arriving and had to drive to Klamath Falls to purchase some (about 40 mins). The only thing we didn't get to do that we really wanted was to kayak on the river. The cabin does have kayaks for rent; however, we were unable to rent them for our stay, which was kind of a downer. But, there are tons of kayak/canoe/paddle board rental companies around the area if guests need another option. Overall, I would stay again.
The house sits on a nice piece of land looking out to the water. Very calm and serene-- just what we wanted for a weekend getaway trip for the four of us. However, as we entered the house, we saw cobwebs throughout the house, dusty kitchen countertops, dining table, a/c unit/remote control, unkempt sheets/blanket with pieces of blonde hair. The house had a mustiness to it. Our pregnant friend did not feel comfortable being in the house under those conditions. We decided to scrub down the bathroom, door handles, kitchen counter tops, dining table, wash the bed sheets, and blankets, sofa, and more. We thought we would be walking into a half decently cleaned home, but it felt like no one had been in the house for months. As we paid for a cleaning fee, we expected that it would be presentable. The view was great, but the house was disappointing. We did not feel comfortable settling into the house until we finally scrubbed it down, which took a couple of hours of our vacation time.
We tried to see if the owner would at least refund the cleaning fee - not only did he not, but he took it very personally and was rude back. This is not how you want to start or end a weekend away with good friends.
This cabin was the perfect find! We spent 2 days fly fishing in the Klamath basin and the location of this cabin could not be better. (We landed 2 beautiful Williamson trout just upstream from the cabin.) It's a treat to be right on the water and enjoy the deck after a long day experiencing this beautiful part of the world.
John is a wonderful host - very friendly and responsive. Can't wait to return!
There were 4 of us that stayed at the cabin over Memorial weekend. We had plenty of room and space and enjoyed the cabin. We loved how quiet and peaceful it was at the cabin. We enjoyed being 45 minutes away from Crater Lake and we also enjoyed being right on the Williamson river. Two of us brought kayaks and the other two rented some from the Ledge in Klamath Falls. We kayaked the Williamson river from Collier State Park to the Bridge in the town of Chiloquin. It was peaceful and very enjoyable. We also enjoyed kayaking around the water in front of the cabin as well. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed for a long weekend. It was great to have the heater in the cabin as well as the fire placer- although we didn't need to start it. We also enjoyed being able to use the BBQ and the bonfire pit infront of the cabin. The owners are selling the place, otherwise we would make this spot a yearly or more spot to vacation at!
