About the property

1 Bedroom (Loft), 1 Bath, Screened Porch, A/C, Washer/Dryer

The Tropical Tree house is a very private cottage new to the rental market in 2015.

Central Air Conditioning installed August 2015 for those times when the tropical breezes just aren't enough!!!

The roads on St John are steep and curvy. But the road to the house and the driveway are completely paved... The cottage is down 68 steps the middle of lush green trees with a view of St. John, Drake's Channel and Tortola.

The main level includes the kitchen, living room, bathroom. The screened-in porch, dining table and seating for 4, a sitting area and a hammock. The comfy queen size bed is located in the bedroom loft. There is also a washer and dryer on the lower level.

Fully equipped kitchen, filtered drinking water, ice maker, WIFI, cable TV, iPhone 5 dock, beach towels and chairs, cooler, and washer and dryer are all included.

Additional guests will be considered on an individual basis and for an additional fee.

Very nice, secluded home

  • 5 of 5

Everything was exactly as advertised, and was therefore exactly what we expected. If you like what you see online, you will like the place. The owner was very helpful and responsive with our questions.

This is a lovely cottage! Spent 17 days here and would do it again.

The property is exactly as it appears in the photos. One must be able to climb the sixty some stairs but once you've done that you will adore this villa!

Charming and private vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Tropical Treehouse is an oasis painted in tropical colors and offering a relaxed, welcoming respite. The cottage was very clean and had everything that was needed to start our vacation. The pictures are an accurate representation of what the cottage looks like but they don't fully capture the charm and beauty of it. Susan is very organized so all information is delivered well in advance of arrival. Directions to the cottage were sent as well as contact information for the owners, when and where to rent a car etc. Both Susan and Bob are very outgoing, friendly and helpful.

The Treehouse is aptly named as it is built on the side of Bordeaux Mountain among the trees with a view of Coral Bay beyond. The morning is filled with the sound of birds in the trees and the Island roosters! Coffee on the screened in porch was a visual delight and so relaxing! You can hear other people, at times, but you can't see anyone. The cottage is very private and safe with no need to lock the doors. There are 68 steps to the cottage but they are well lit with handrails. They are steep so the lighter your suitcase the better. We considered it part of our daily exercise!

Our eight days went by too quickly so we have already booked our return visit next February at the Tropical Treehouse. It is a delightful place to call "home" for a few days.

great stay

  • 5 of 5

A great place to stay for couples. We spent 5 nights in January and February 2017 and had a wonderful stay. Clean, affordable with everything you need . Only had to use the AC for a couple hours each night. The washer and dryer were a definite plus. Susan and Bob the owners are very accommodating and we had our security deposit back within one week which was outstanding giving the snail mail of St. John.

Convenient to all that the south side of St. John has to offer including great beaches at Haulover Bay (including the swim up pontoon boat bar) Salt Pond Bay and Lamshur Bays and good eats at Skinny Legs, Pickles in Paradise, Concordia Cafe and the Indigo Grill.

The 69 steps to the house could be a challenge for some, but if you take your time going up and down it is not a problem. Can't wait for our next trip to our favorite island in the Caribbean.

Tropical Tree House is a wonderful and magical place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Tropical Tree House during early Feb. 2017. Being every bit as magical as and more so than the pictures showed, the property was just as described and advertised. We loved the "tree house" feeling that comes with being surrounded by tree tops and a supply of singing birds all around. It felt very secluded even though we were just minutes from restaurants and beaches. We enjoyed the snorkeling at Salt Pond and Haulover beach; both of which were conveniently located on this side of the island. Additionally, we feasted on delicious food, which included Sunday Jazz brunch at Miss Lucy's, as well as juicy burgers at Skinny Legs. The only things future visitors should know and/or understand are that the roads are curvy and steep; a Jeep or other SUV would be the preferred rental for navigating these types of roads. Also, the Tree House property itself does have quite a few steps to maneuver; so make sure to bring your walking shoes. The Tropical Tree House is definitely a place I would recommend to others and can't wait to come back next year!

Great Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I loved our week on St. John. We stayed at the Tropical Treehouse and really enjoyed it. The owner responds very quickly to any questions or concerns...not that we had many questions or concerns because she does such a great job of providing you with all the necessary information beforehand. The rental feels very private being in the trees up on the hill. You can hear others around you, but you can't see them. Noise does seem to carry up the hill. The rental has everything one would need for a vacation on St. John, including beach chairs, a cooler, beach towels. There is a nice little kitchen. The air conditioning was really pleasant on humid evenings. The large outside deck was great. We spent lots of time on the deck relaxing. The location near Coral Bay worked well for us. The Coral Bay restaurants were a short 3-5 minute drive. Cinnamon, Trunk, and Maho bays are all between a 12-18 minute drive. We enjoyed being on the other side of the island from Cruz Bay. We didn't once visit Cruz Bay during our stay except to arrive on the ferry from St. Thomas and to depart on the ferry to go home. You should beware that there about 68 steps to the house from the driveway. Don't forget anything when you head out for the day. Also, my wife made me carry all the luggage up the stairs....The 68 steps are an annoyance, but for the price, the privacy, and the view, we were ok with the steps. I also want to reiterate that the owner is great to work with. She always responds promptly, and she provides you with all the necessary information. We'd stay again.
