Our Maui Vista condo has a surprising ocean view from its 3rd floor location in Building 2 away from busy Kihei Road. If you tire of the ocean view, gaze upon Mount Haleakala and the championship tennis courts from the back of the condo.

• Living room: Decorated in a rich, tropical theme with a comfortable sofa bed, wall-mounted 48" LCD TV, DVD, VHS and CD player and free high-speed Internet with free Wi-Fi. Dinette area includes a table with four chairs and a ceiling fan.

• Bathroom: Remodeled with slate flooring and slate surround in tub/shower.

• Bedroom: Queen-size bed (with new mattress in October 2015) and a ceiling fan to supplement the warm tropical breezes. New window air conditioner in October 2015.

• Kitchen: Renovated in 2014 with new cabinetry, counters, lighting, ceiling fan, sink, faucet and microwave. Deluxe! Frig, range and dishwasher are not new but are functional.

Maui Vista has 3 pools and 6 tennis courts located amidst tropical flowers and trees. We are across the street from Kamaole 1 (a.k.a. Charley Young) beach, which is one of the nicest swimming beaches on Maui. Walk to restaurants and shops from our condo. Prestigious Wailea is just minutes away with its elegant shopping and beaches.

What makes this condo unique

Nice beach across the street for swimming, boogie boarding or loafing. Plus a short drive from Ulua & Makena beaches, both with excellent snorkeling.

Wonderful property

We enjoyed our stay here. The condo is well stocked and very comfortable. We enjoyed taking the beach chairs and sun umbrella across the street to beautiful Charley Young beach. We barely needed the AC as the unit is set so it is never in the direct sun. The lanai has a nice view of the water and mountains. We would stay here again.

Nice condo and location

We really enjoyed our 6 nights at Maui Vista. It's an easy walk to the beach, the unit was quiet, and there is lots of great beach gear. My only complaint is that the large tower fan in the living room didn't work. Hopefully it will be replaced as it would have been nice to have the extra air circulation. Overall, the condo is advertised and I would recommend it.

Horrible experience – BUGS everywhere

Staying at this unit almost ruined my trip to Maui. I arrived late on Sept 25 to the unit, where I found a stream of bugs crawling out of the kitchen cupboards. They were also crawling around the washer and dryer AND on the dining room table. It was completely disgusting and a horrendous start to my trip. I contacted the owner of the unit immediately. She indicated that ants would congregate near the washer and dryer in the unit and that’s just what happens in Hawaii. She said I should put out ant traps and put her food in the fridge or freezer… She never offered any alternative accommodation and seemed to think I was overreacting to the fact that bugs were crawling throughout her kitchen and dining room. I get seeing a few bugs in Hawaii – but this was beyond what anyone should be forced to deal with on vacation.

After putting out ant traps and putting away the owner’s food supply, I found more bugs in a different kitchen cupboard as well as more bugs in the dining room area. I simply couldn’t fathom trying to stay at the unit for a whole week while bugs were roaming freely throughout the kitchen and dining area. I didn’t feel the kitchen was at all a sanitary place to be preparing or cooking food and I feared eating food would just contribute to the problem.

I left the unit after less than 12 hours after arriving due to the proliferation of bugs in the unit. I asked the owner to refund my stay – I told her I would agree to cover the cleaning fee and one night’s stay but that given the situation, it was only fair for the rest of my stay to be refunded. She refused. She has refunded me two nights and even that was a hard fought battle. The owner seems to think I should have lived with the bugs and exterminator visit for a whole week. What kind of vacation is that for anyone?

I wish someone had warned me that this unit had an ongoing bug/ant problem before I booked it. If you plan to stay here, be warned that you too will probably encounter the same problem, as it seems to be an ongoing issue in this unit. I will commend the Maui Vista property management who agreed to call an exterminator right away. I do not know if the problem has been dealt with, but I do know the owner is extremely unfair and unreasonable when it comes to what her vacationers should be forced to deal with. You’ve been warned!

Owner's Response: We are very sorry for the bad experience by this guest, and made a number of efforts to smooth things over so the customer would have a great Maui vacation. The only 'bugs' that the guest encountered were tiny ants, so we offered to have our cleaner stop by with Ant Traps (the guest declined this offer) and we immediately contacted the building management who arranged for a professional Pest Control company to stop by and treat the condo for ants. My husband was just at the condo in July and did not see any ants. Our last guests to mention ants were my high school friends who saw some ants in January of 2014 but they set out ant traps and let me know of the issue as a courtesy, which I appreciated. I issued a refund of 2 nights for this guest's distress and inconvenience. We try very hard to accommodate our guests and are sorry our actions were not enough to make this guest happy.

Great condo for a wonderful vacation

We stay from March 29 to April 6, 2016. My family has four people including two teenagers. The condo is exactly as advertised. We love the lanai for afternoon naps or just watching sunset. The condo has everything we need from beach toys to full kitchen. The location is conveniently closed to beach, shopping, restaurants. We had problem open the condo when we first arrived, but Janet and her friend quickly resolved it. The sofa bed is little soft and squeaky so don't expect a comfortable sleep. Janet is very helpful and responsive. Normally I would hear back from her within couple days. This is a great condo I would recommend it to my friends and relatives

Ideal Kihei home base

We really enjoyed our stay at this clean and well-equipped condo strategically located in Kihei. It was most convenient for the beaches, shopping, restaurants, getting to the highway, and even the parking lot. It was quiet, well maintained and equipped with everything you need for a typical Maui vacation. While it had air conditioners, we never needed them since an amazing evening breeze blew right through the condo via its large screened windows. The lanai was comfortable and the perfect for place for a peaceful cocktail after a busy day. While an issue arose during our stay, Janet did her best to resolve it promptly and professionally; these things happen so what more could you expect. As others have noted, the grounds are very well maintained and are as described in the listing. We'll be sure to try rebooking with Janet again if we plan on another Maui vacation.
