I am an artist, storyteller and owner of The Brave Life Initiative. I use art, mythology, storytelling and the Hero's Journey with people going through a rite of passage and transitions as well as training those who work with these populations. Carol Freya Soth purchased this bungalow in 2012
The cottage is a warm and cozy refuge in a quiet neighborhood. It is near a river park, downtown and the university.
original art, large .3 acre lot, very comfortable and eclectic furnishings. Homey!
My wife and I rented this property for 2.5 months when we had our first child, so extended family could stay there. This worked out perfectly! Our parents and siblings had plenty of room, without making our house crowded.
Freya, the house owner, is very inviting and made the whole process easy.
The house is very cozy/warm. Freya, has decorated it very nicely. I typically don't pay attention to the whole "Feng shui" thing, but it really works in this house! Our parents all said they got excellent sleep and my father hammered through several books, partly due to the relaxed atmosphere of the place. We would often have family dinners at the house, using the neat old oven.
In short, if you are like us and need a long-term rental property (or, even a short relaxing stay) in the Corvallis area, this is a perfect solution.
My visit to Corvallis is an annual retreat. I go for peace and quiet, exercise and restful nights. This charming bungalow, eclectic cottage decor and gardens were perfect surroundings for me. The home was spotless, and I had everything I needed - most especially the peace and quiet. The house is within walking distance to Willamette Park, where I enjoyed jogging the dirt trails and being able to see the river from openings along the path. I had a wonderfully restorative and peaceful retreat and hope to return again soon.
We LOVED everything about the house. Especially the thoughtful touches, hide-a-bed made up, fresh cut flowers, half and half and coffee in the fridge. One of our favorite VRBO's yet. Highly recommend! My 20-year-old daughter didn't want to leave!
This was a wonderful place to stay for our visit to Corvallis. My daughter will start grad school at OSU, and Freya's place was convenient to campus and very comfortable. The house was super clean and appeared just as described on the website. We arrived in Corvallis early, and Freya allowed us to check in early so we could get settled and start exploring the area. Very homey feel, lots of personal touches, great selection of books, nice gas stove, all around wonderful experience and we will definitely stay there again and recommend to others!
Beautiful little cottage. It had everything we needed for a family get together. The home was clean with lots of room. It was a very comfortable relaxing stay. A short walk to campus, less than 2 miles. We were there for a 3 day stay over OSU graduation weekend. Would highly recommend to others.
We had a great time at this bungalow which had so much charm and personality. The two cats were delightful and welcomed us at the driveway every day when we returned home from a fantastic day of adventures. Great, quiet location. We always drove into town, but it is walkable (maybe 15-20 minute walk to get to the heart of the town). It was furnished with everything you could ask for in a kitchen and laundry room. We'd definitely stay again!!
