About the property

Newly constructed home overlooking Stanford, Palo Alto hills

This modern 2 bedroom guesthouse is well situated on a 3 acre property just minutes from Stanford University /Hospitals and Palo Alto. Close to I-280 for easy access to San Francisco, anywhere in Silicon Valley and entire Bay Area.

" Ideal base for exploring the San Francisco area. The location was peaceful."

Cantilevered over the oak-studded hillside, this cedar and glass home has a resort feel. It was designed and constructed from scratch in 2014 to the highest quality standards, sporting 9 ft ceilings and expansive windows and sliding door to deck and outdoor bbq area. Watch the deer and wildlife from indoors or out.

"We especially enjoyed watching the bird life in the surrounding trees, including an eagle owl asleep in the tree outside our window one morning."

"We enjoyed the quiet location after the hustle and bustle of San Francisco."

"The furnishings are very high quality and we really liked the beautiful shower."

Hiking trails begin right outside your door or drive just a few minutes to the Arastradero Preserve, the popular Stanford Dish walk, or access to Windy Hill trails.

There is a private tennis court on the property that you are free to use. Racquets, balls and even a ball machine are available.

A washer and dryer provides easy laundry during your stay.

About Goldband

We moved to the Bay Area about 25 years ago to join the tech world. We stayed because it's a bit of paradise, with the intellectual power of Stanford University, the sights of SF, endless creative and cultural opportunities, dramatic landscapes and fresh California cooking style that builds on a full range of ethnic cuisines.

Goldband purchased this house in 2014

Why Goldband chose California

You'll love the location and the amenities. Full and easy access to Stanford University, Silicon Valley and San Francisco, but also hiking trails and views of the valley and wildlife.

I enjoyed staying her just for the peaceful environment. I loved the trees and the view. The rooms were nice. The bathroom was beautiful. Steve was easy to work with and made the transaction pretty seamless - no trouble. I would stay here again. It took 10'to 15 minutes to go on the side roads to the Stanford cancer center. They could use some new pots and pans and a few more coffee cups. I looked forward to getting Beefback to the guest house everyday after treatment.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed the peaceful environment, the trees and the view beyond. We're always delighted when our guests can enjoy the facilities and the location. We are upgrading the pots and pans and coffee cups. Its hard to know what's needed unless the guests are forthcoming. We hope your treatments will continue to have positive results and that your health is fully restored. BEST, Ellen and Steve

Excellent property, relaxing location

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed here a couple of times and will continue to return. Steve and Ellen are accommodating, accessible and the property is in excellent condition. The neighborhood is very quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley but within a short drive or uber ride to everywhere you'd want to go. Thanks for sharing your wonderful property.

Piece of mind

  • 5 of 5

Steve and Ellen's guest house was the must needed haven that we needed during our remodel. Steve and Ellen were lovely as well settled in to our new 2 week home. It's was peaceful and while we hopefully will never need to remodel again....we would definitely rent again for visiting friends and family. Thank you!

Private, woodsy and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This property is a wonderful peaceful place to stay. I was back and forth to the Stanford campus many times during the day and it was an easy drive and a beautiful woodsy setting to come home to. The trails in the area are wonderful for hiking and the owners were very accommodating. I would highly recommend this guest house and hope to stay here again. I am pretty picky and generally stay in hotels but I would return to this guest house with no hesitations.

Very clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 1 week in summertime, and we were concerned about the heat, but the weather was perfect and the guest home was very comfortable. Steve and Ellen were easy to reach, though we didn't have any problems during our stay. We look forward to returning in the future, and would highly recommend staying here.
