Sellwood - Moreland House Rental Photos and Description

1 bed/ 1 bath that sleeps up to 5

Come experience a lush landscape retreat at SellwoodManor; an adorable, ultra-clean victorian house located in the heart of the city featuring many original touches. With downtown & OHSU just 10 minutes away, you’ll find the location is ideal for exploring the best of Portland. This LiveLikeItsYours property is located in Sellwood which is one of Portland’s oldest and finest neighborhoods where you’ll find an abundance of shops, restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, and trails to explore.

We’ve accentuated the best of this lady by adding touches of contemporary furnishings, antiques, repurposed pieces, many pieces of original artwork, high ceiling and lots of natural light.

Private and modern, this spacious 1 bedroom, 1 bath is airy and perfectly situated in a lush garden setting. The open, 900 square feet of living space offers plenty of storage for your personal belongings and includes a fully equipped kitchen with modern conveniences (dishwasher, garbage disposal, and vented gas range) . You’ll also have full use of the laundry center with washer, dryer, iron & board. As a bonus, we’ve arranged the house to sleep parties up to 6. In addition to a bedroom featuring a luxurious queen bed you’ll find two other sofa-beds (1 living room + 1 bonus room) to accommodate additional guests. The “sun room” is a wonderful place to relax and sleep offering a private space with full size sleeper sofa. We’ve stocked the property with the cook and entertainer in mind and the pantry includes, condiments, tea, oils and all the staples for guest use. Whether you’re going for a full Thanksgiving dinner, a cocktail part, or simple tapas; we have everything you need to entertain up to 10 and seating for 8 at the expandable dining table.

The bathroom is fresh, clean & modern with many original touches including a clawfoot and beautiful fixtures. We provide plenty luxury towels, soap & shampoo/conditioner.

Just an 8 minute drive to the downtown city center, SellwoodManor is located in the idilic Sellwood - Westmoreland neighborhood, on the inner SE side of Portland. This quiet idilic residential area offers a distinct proliferation of food, gorgeous flower gardens and canopied trees lined streets. Reed College is just a stones throw away as are some of the best walking and biking trails in Portland. If biking is your thing, you’ll find access to the Springwater trail (which takes you directly downtown within 10 minutes) is located literally a block from the house.

We offer free wi-fi, a full cable channel line up on a flat screen tv, ipod docking station, and linens fit for royalty. For those of you with little children, we offer a pack n play and highchair for your use.

During fair weather, (May 1st to mid/late October) guests are invited to relax in the backyard garden and barbecue, sip on a beverage or simply enjoy the lush wooded lot with shaded protection from the warmth of summer. A bistro table and full gas bbq grill are available for guest use.

You can rent bicycles at a great local shop just a few blocks away for sightseeing, a ride to parks, the waterfront, or to go shopping at a variety of interesting neighborhood shops.

If you'd like to head downtown, but don't want to drive, bus stops are located in every direction and are just a few blocks from the house and cottage.

We'll do our best to make your stay and your Portland activities as uncomplicated and pleasant as possible.

There is ample street parking. Want a trip through wine country (to the beach, to the mountains) but you are without a car? Car2Go cars are accessible within a few blocks. Please visit all our LiveLikeItsYours properties on VRBO, Portland (listings 562563 & 385954) & on the Oregon Coast (Listing numbers #300618 & 431930 & 495038) & Oregon Wine Country (listing # 511960) if you are touring the State, keep in mind we have properties in Los Angeles (387206 & 441813) & Palm Springs (Listing # 652243 & 652254). Getting around: A bus stop is one block away. Downtown Portland is a ten minute drive, and we are a few minute drive to the OHSU tram. Reed College is only a 5 minute trip. Bike or run the gorgeous waterfront Springwater Corridor to downtown which takes just minutes.

Neighborhood Amenities, all within walking distance:

Seasonal rides at Oaks Park, the country’s oldest continuously active amusement park. Shopping and antiquing on 13th Street, also known as Antique Row. Four coffee shops and two tea shops, including our favorite coffee hangout - Either/Or. Restaurants include Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, Asian, Greek, Salvadoran, Mexican, Sushi, Burgers and Fries, and of course, the very Portlandia pod of Food Carts! We have a branch of the PNW artisan bakery Grand Central Baking, they bake some of the best bread in town and offer take home u-bake it as well.

About David W

We have put an exceptional amount of attention to detail into each of our properties. Why David W chose Portland

Amazing Portland Sellwood location with easy access to top destinations. Pearl District, NW 23rd, Hawthorne, Alberta, Mississippi, Fremont, Division, and Clinton are all easily accessible. Easy walking access to some of the best grocery, theater, restaurants, bars, shopping, public transportation and gym options Portland has to offer.

What makes this house unique

Also, let me suggest a great new service (1 way rides & free parking) called Car2go which is an awesome alternative to renting a car (for city use). Signing up gives you access to all the cities they service in the US.

This house is charming, clean, and well set up for a vacation to Portland. The pictures don't show all the attention to detail that David has put into his rental. Our kids got sick during our vacation and the house was cozy and inviting while they recuperated. Would definitely stay again.

The photos are very deceiving for this property. The exterior trees and shrubbery need to be trimmed, the side yards have an abundance of overgrowth. There is an old sink and other junk on the side yard as well. The interior looked clean at first glance but there were spiders and spider webs in the kitchen, the sun room and the bedroom. I killed 9 large spiders during my stay with the majority being in the bedroom. Although, I paid for a 2 week stay, I left after 10 as I just couldn't take the spiders any longer. If the exterior was kept up better as is shown in the photographs I believe there wouldn't be such a spider issue. Because of the extreme overgrowth of the trees and they are touching the house, it is very easy for spiders to get in. I was disappointed. I drove all the way from California to get there and was excited to spend 2 weeks there. David, was quick to respond when it benefitted him but became difficult to get in touch with on any kind of complaint. I would not recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Christina, was a very difficult guest, even before she arrived, very demanding with the expectations that were The Four Seasons. This is an great little 1920's Victorian house in a nice neighborhood. Here is her response when she arrived "Hi David - the cottage is adorable and everything was in place. Thank you so much." She brought her dogs, which was fine, but then decided she needed to rent a chain link fence for them which encircled the back yard. When she left, early, the fence remained.

Quaint and comfy!

  • 4 of 5

We rented this house for a quiet weekend away for my friend and I. The house was located on a dead end street in a quiet neighborhood. We liked the location of the property, it was a little out of the downtown area but near some very cool shops and restaurants, the bike trail and the golf course. The house itself was very cute and comfortable. While an older home, it had some excellent upgrades and was in very good shape overall. The spacious bathroom features included a claw-foot tub, updated faucet fixtures, some very eclectic and interesting decor and beautiful flooring. The artwork throughtout the house was very tasteful and fitting for the house style. The kitchen was well-stocked and efficient, and we loved the little sunroom off the kitchen. The house was in very good shape when we checked in, very clean and orderly. We enjoyed our stay there very much. We had fun walking through the neighborhood enjoying the laid-back feel there. We went into downtown Portland several times and found it easy to get to and to return from. The owner was good with customer service and answered our questions promptly. If there were any drawbacks I would say that perhaps the back yard area could use some attention and we weren't able to get the new, gas fireplace to light. Otherwise, we would definitely stay there again and would recommend this property to friends and family.

Quaint house in a quaint neighborhood and adorable town!

  • 4 of 5

I enjoyed my two nights at Sellwood Manor and contribute it to the fact that the house was super clean and well stocked in a friendly little neighborhood. I never got in my car and walked the few beautiful blocks into town twice a day. Rode my bike right out to the trail and enjoyed the river walks. I highly recommend staying here. The only thing to stop me from giving it 5 stars was that with the cool and breezy temperatures, it would've been nice to open windows and let the fresh air in. Living in Montana, I am accustomed to fresh air cooling the house at night and in the mornings so I missed that natural comfort feature. Otherwise all was wonderful.

An Exquisite Gem Indeed

  • 5 of 5

This is beautifully and thoughtfully restored home with everything one needs for a short or extended stay. The neighborhood is very quiet, and shops, markets, and restaurants (I loved the food carts a few blocks away) are all within walking distance. Staying with my dogs, I especially loved the proximity of the dog park, a lovely walk along the trail. David was very responsive with a change in the wifi network. I cannot recommend the Sellwood Manor highly enough. I plan to return next year. Thank you David.

I recommend Sellwood Manor without reservation!

  • 5 of 5

In a nice quiet neighborhood, close to New Seasons and other small shops,

nice walking trail by the shortline railroad track, plenty of parking ...and of

course no complaints at all. Having a place like this that accepts our Standard

Poodle is great -- I recommend staying here when you visit Portland.

Cute cottage near town

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was clean with lots of character. It turned cold and snowed while we where there, but the heater kept up and we stayed warm.
