This log cabin was hand built by my father over a 20 year period. Me and my family have grown up here. This property is in a very quiet and private location and includes breathtaking views overlooking Lake Ontario. Have a campfire, enjoy the peacefulness, go kayaking/canoeing on East Bay or Lake Ontario, enjoy a sunset wine tasting @ Thorpe Vineyard, swim or relax on the private beach, go hiking on the trail of the Chimney Bluffs State Park, fishing, hunting and more! Just 15 minutes from Sodus Point and a 10 min. drive to the village of Wolcott.
Stayed here for the weekend in mid September with family and friends. Place is awesome - worm and original (rustic) decor with many unique decorations. We spent most of the time on the deck or outside since the weather was great. Swam in the lake (it is a bit if a rocky entrance) but after a few feet is sandy. Area is really nice with good neighbors. Winery within walking distance - great for a little walk. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need. Beds are comfy. Owners are great to deal with. Definitely will be coming again next year.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin! It is beautifully decorated and has a gorgeous view of the lake. The house is right on the water with a private stone beach. Although one of the neighboring houses is a little close, the cabin still felt private.
There is a nice winery within walking distance (5 mins) called Thorpe Vinyard. The staff and the wine there were great! Chimney bluffs park is also within walking distance. We went on a walk along the edge of the bluffs next to the water and it was beautiful. There are a few restaurants about 15 mins away.
It is a great place for a quiet getaway!
This cabin is great! It is a real log cabin home. There are 3 bedrooms including a loft and a great room. The great room was perfect for us because no one was excluded from the fun while cooking or cleaning. The walls are decorated with antique tools, furs, and antlers. There are plenty of activities! We spent our time playing games and searching for cool rocks on the beach. The beach is a stone beach and mostly clean. There were a few dead fish, but it is that time of year when the water gets colder and I certainly wouldn't expect the owners to clear the few dead fish away! The stairs down to the water are steep and I would be nervous taking young children down, but my group was made up of capable adults. We watched a sunset down by the water and it will be a forever memory for me!
The cabin has plenty of space to spread out, but sound carries. It really only bothered us if someone was a "sleepy head". We had plenty of hot water the entire stay. We didn't find it to be a problem to bring tap water, infact, we brought too much, so we left a few gallons for the next person. I did not have cell reception (Sprint), but people with verizon did.
We walked to Thorpe Winery, it was less than 10 minutes away! The wine was great. We drove and parked at the Chimney Bluffs State Park. What a great park! It is popular, so we saw a lot of people, but the view of the Bluffs and Lake is a great draw!
It is hard to find good places to go and take a dog. I didn't mind picking up after her and vacuuming before leaving. Bringing the dog really added to the experience!
Thank you for letting us have our perfect getaway!
We stayed for two days. The cabin is basically nice buts lacks TLC. When we arrived none of the beds were made. You have to bring your own drinking water. The towels were hiding in a basket under some blankets. Some light bulbs were out. There is no light over the stove. The deck chair is in need of repair. Tools decorated tables, thereby making their use difficult. It wouldn't take much to turn it into a 4 or 5 star stay....there is swimming right there if you rent in the summer. There are plenty of places within 15 minutes to go fishing. Stores are at least 10 minutes away so bring supplies before you get there.
My family and I rented this cabin for 5 days. We traveled from Minnesota and met family from New York for a relaxing vacation. That is exactly what we got in this beautiful, well equipped house. There were 7 of us but plenty of room for more. As stated the lines and towels were provided and plenty. It has a nice spacious deck to enjoy the view of the lake. The short walk or drive to the Chimney Bluffs added some more fun to our trip. The house has lots to do, but if you wanted to get out there were tons to do just short drives away. Even my daughter's dog got to join the family which is such an added bonus. We are definitely keeping this place in mind for future vacations.
Thorpe Vineyards is in walking distance from the cabin. They offer wine tastings, etc.
Bob's Big M is the nearest grocery store located ~8 miles from the cabin in the village of Wolcott
