A tranquil cottage on Grand Turk's exquisite white sand Pillory Beach

About the property

Located just steps from the turquoise blue waters and soft white sand beaches

Seasongs is a charming one-story, fully furnished cottage with a spacious fully enclosed yard, just steps from the spectacular Pillory Beach located on the northern end of the western shore of beautiful Grand Turk. A quaint island reminiscent of “Old Caribbean” before the days of high rises and crowds, Grand Turk is a short 25-minute plane ride from the hustle and bustle of Providenciales (“Provo”).

Delight in tranquility almost impossible to find in today’s modern world. Enjoy magnificent ocean views as you drink your morning coffee in the living room or indulge in an evening glass of wine from the outdoor patio. Grab a beach chair and walk 20 yards to Pillory Beach’s pristine, powdery white sand beach and calm turquoise water. Wade out to swim or snorkel. Later, stroll down to the local fish market to buy today’s catch to barbeque for dinner.

We fell in love with the Grand Turk’s peaceful charm, friendly locals and exceptional diving during our first visit, and acquired Seasongs in late 2014. The house has been completely refurbished and a local property manager is available to assist guests. The interior was decorated by Mercedes Brennan of 1 Chic Retreat. Mercedes, a specialist in vacation home interior design, has created an environment that will meet your every need – including the need to not worry about anything! The house is stylish, very comfortable and completely unfussy - a place where you can truly relax, knowing that everything has been provided for.

When you’re done relaxing, there are plenty of activities – horseback riding along the beach, biking around the island on one of our bikes, exploring the history and culture of Grand Turk at the Turks & Caicos National Museum, people-watching at one of the nearby restaurant bars. If you’re inclined, visit the Cruise Center on the south end of the island (about 4 miles away) when a cruise ship is in for shopping and drinks at the Margaritaville Bar. Then, there’s the diving! World-class diving along the 8-mile long Grand Turk Wall in the Columbus National Marine Park. There are four expert dive shops; dive boats can pick you up on the beach directly in front of Seasongs.

Here’s what you’ll enjoy at Seasongs:

• A breezy open-plan living/dining room with ocean views from the living room

• A fully stocked kitchen with a new electric range

• Table settings for 8+

• High-quality linens and towels, including beach towels

• Private bedroom with a king bed

• Ceiling fans in every room, plus full air-conditioning for when it gets a little too tropical

• Cable TV, a Blu-ray player and Wi-Fi

• Truly comfortable sleeping for 5: a new king bed, a sectional sofa that converts to a queen bed and a twin daybed

• Office area with desk

• 2 cruiser bikes

• A large screened-in porch with wicker chairs and dining room table and chairs that seats 8+

• Fully enclosed yard (good place for small kids to play) with two patios, a barbeque and a bocce ball court, hammock, room to park a golf cart or rental car

• Markets, restaurants and island businesses that are only a short walk away

There were two houses constructed across the street adjacent to Seasongs earlier in the year, however all construction was completed one the closest one before the end of this past summer and there are still beautiful ocean views and lovely sunsets to enjoy with your breakfast or a glass of wine on the patio.

About Karen

Eric and Karen, the new owners, fell in love with the magic of Grand Turk upon their dive trip and decided to return as often as possible. What better way to do so than purchase a rental property! We completely renovated and refurnished 'our' house to make it comfortable for us, our families and our guests. We hope you love your stay as much as we did and return as often!

Karen purchased this house in 2014

Charming historic cottage

  • 4 of 5

This lovely cottage is a real gem on the tiny island of Grand Turk. It is spacious, well-stocked, clean and comfortable. Caribbean islanders enjoy a climate that encourages outdoor living, so we were very happy the air conditioning could be used to drown out the sounds of the busy island. Karen and Anita are very helpful, respond quickly to requests, and do their best to accommodate guests. We enjoyed our time living on the local economy in this pleasant cottage.

We will be back

  • 4 of 5

The house is just what we expected. The kitchen is stocked with every utensil you need and enough spices for the week. Beach chairs, bikes and enough towels for the week. The only thing you might want to look into is a golf cart from Omar, best money you will spend and you can literally explore the entire island with it. He will even let you drive it back to the airport.

We cooked 3 nights out of the 6 because the locals bring fresh catch at 5 pm every day. You literally walk 6 homes down the street and it's right there. You never know what they will bring in. We ate conch, red snapper and a lobster that was big enough for six people! I wish we would have cooked all six nights, but the restaurants were too good to pass up. Bohio Resort is within walking distance by beach or road, excellent meal, slow service, but you are on island time. Bonnie's kitchen for lunch. She is in town and everything she makes is delicious. Turks Head Inn is a short bike ride away. Dinner was delicious as well and the service was amazing. Osprey is a short bike or golf card drive. We went on a night that they had barbecue. The side dishes (buffet) were amazing and the seafood was perfectly cooked on the grill.

We were there during a week that was windy and the cruise ships only landed one day. We virtually had the island to ourselves. When they do come in, it is much busier but fun to watch everyone. Two grocery stores and a liquor store within walking distance. The house is right in the middle of where the locals live, they are extremely helpful and will answer any of your questions since they know everyone and everything on the island. When I passed all the other rentals I looked at on VRBO, I was happy with our location. Right in the middle of things but far enough away.

Bring bug spray! No joke, you can't get away from them in and out of the house.

Bring lots of cash. I read this, but didn't know the severity. Most stores and the locals only deal in cash. There are banks, but I couldn't get any cash out of the machines and my phone carrier was sketchy.

Pack some staples in your suitcase. The stores are super expensive so items like snacks, coffee, dried fruits are helpful to bring.

Our experience was so wonderful that we will be back in the near future.

Good location for the price.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed from 12/22-12/28/16. There's several pros and cons about the property:

Pros: It's across the road from a beautiful quiet beach. The cottage is well stocked with all the amenities that's needed, including beach towels, chairs, and umbrella. The kitchen and bathrooms are clean. Plenty of clean towels and kitchen supplies, including cooking spices and seasonings. Nice comfortable king size bed. Large TV with plenty of channels. Large screened in porch to keep bugs out. Two cruiser bikes for island exploring. The grocery store is around the corner. Everything was functional. The fishermen bring in the fresh catch of the day down the road. The owner was responsive to questions and quick professional booking process. She arranged for a cab to pick us up from the airport. Property manager, Anita, greeted us on arrival to show us the ropes of the place.

Cons: The cottage is a bit old and needed some updating. It's very basic but functional. The main thing we didn't like were the ants and other bugs immediately outside the house. You can't avoid stepping on them the moment you step outside. We found some ants on the kitchen counter searching for food regardless of how clean we kept it. Not much of a view since the new houses blocked the view but no fault of the owners.

We felt safe at the location despite some of the under developed surrounding regions. The local people are friendly and helpful. It's not a 5 star accommodation but overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: Dear Pauline, We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Seasongs and Grand Turk and found the island and cottage to be quite pleasant and safe! We have not previously received any reports of ants (or any other unwanted critters) in the cottage so very much appreciate the feedback as we are addressing the issue immediately! We always encourage our guests to let us know as soon as possible if there are issues that arise during their stay so that we can ensure their visit is as comfortable and wonderful as they expect! The outdoor "love bugs' (as they are known on the island as they are found in pairs) outside of the house are native to the island and part of the local outdoor landscape. They are a bit more prevalent in during the rainy season, however, fortunately, they do not bite and are harmless in every way possible. We are glad that you were comfortable in the house. The house was previously owned by an Italian couple who crafted the granite countertops and the wonderful tile artwork hanging on the walls. While we completely renovated the interior, it is not a new build and the "bones" of the house maintain the craftsmanship and character of the original construction. Thank you for being our guest and we sincerely hope that you will visit Grand Turk in the future.

Quaint and comfy cottage

  • 5 of 5

Seasongs is a quaint, comfortable cottage on beautiful Grand Turk! If you want to experience what it is like to live on a small beautiful island without high rise hotels, but has friendly people, gorgeous beaches, wild donkeys and horses that freely roam, calm warm water to swim in then come to Grand Turk. If you are tired of the resort atmosphere but still want to be pampered ..sleeping in a comfy bed with high quality linens, Wi Fi, cable, and all the comforts of home then you must stay st Seasongs. As soon as I booked (Karen was great with communication and gave us all the info we needed) I knew I made a great choice. Anita who takes care of Seasongs had someone meet us st the airport and she greeted us when we arrived. Anita checked on us through out the week as well. We rented a golf cart from Omar and this was our transportation as we explored the island during the morning. We then went to the beach in the afternoon and swam in the calm warm ocean. I brought a float snd floated for hours....heaven!! After the beach I would either napped on the couch in the screened in porch under the fan or on the comfy day bed. Then it was a choice to either walked down the beach and buy hugh lobster tails, conch, etc from the local fisherman for dinner or hop on the golf cart to watch the sunset at the Sand Bar. We would have dinner there or at the Ospry of Grand Turk Inn. Stroll the beach after dinner with the moonlight shining and then go back to Seasongs and snuggle on the comfy big sofa to watch our favorite TV shows. Life is good at Seasongs!! Can't wait to go back!!

Look no further, this is the one you want

  • 5 of 5

I have never written a review about any of the many, many, vacation spots my wife and I have stayed at. But this little gem, is definately worthy of my first review. My wife and I have only vacationed at 5 star all inclusive resorts or on Cruises . So this was a step outside of the box for us. But soo glad we did! This cottage offers everything you need. It is clean, quiet, romantic, safe! It is one of the only self contained rentals on the island. All the rest are split up or shared with the owners living on the property! Not at Seasongs! It is yours. All yours. So it feels like it's your own cottage at home! The location is perfect. A great Beach straight ahead of the cottage. Or venture 5 min down the road to an even more magnificent beach. In 5 days we saw 10 people at most on the beach. So private. Location, location, location! Everything(except for noisy tourists) are close by!Liquor store, grocerey store all are 5 min away. If you are looking to get away from it all, but want to have beautiful water and sand and a cozy place to call home! Then this IS your rental to get! Seasongs was the best rental on the isalnd. Trust me, we went and saw alot of them! We will be going back in the new year! Thanks to Karen and Eric for making this experience easy and taking care of all my needs!(the bottle of wine , flower arangement and card for my wife) waiting on the table for our arrival was just the icing on the cake. Thanks again for everything!

Fantastic Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

Seasongs is a great vacation rental. The house is directly across the street from the beach. The beach is beautiful and when we went there was hardly anyone else on the beach. The water is amazing and truly must be seen to be believed. There is a snorkel spot just off the beach from the house. The house is in in a good location-not too close to town and not too far away either. The house had everything we needed for the week and was quite roomy for 2 people. There is a small store just around the corner with the essentials but it is a very easy to walk. The bikes the owner has on the premises came in handy and were great to get around. One is a mountain bike and the other is a beach cruiser and the beach cruiser was much more comfortable. Anita who is the local contact on the island for the owner was great and really helped us out with getting around the first day and getting us settled in. She gave us some ideas about where to eat and some local info. Her and her husband Dave were also very kind to get us to and from the airport. The house is a short bike ride to some good places to eat. We really enjoyed the meal at The Grand Turk Inn. The best meal we had all week and one of the best I have ever had. The chef there is fantastic. The Sandbar Restaurant is a great lunch spot. Being a diver I was very interested in doing some wall diving while on Grand Turk. Seasongs is a short bike ride to the dive shops on Grand Turk. I highly recommend Smitty at Grand Turk Diving. He is simply the best! Best divemaster I have ever encountered and he truly loves what he does. I can not wait to get back to Grand Turk. Great little island with local flair.
