Your hosts, Dennis and Deborah O’Keeffe, invite you to enjoy a casual and comfortable respite from the daily grind as you relax and decompress at one of our Vacation Suites here at Cima Del Mundo on Vieques Island. It is important to us that your stay on “La Isla Nena” become a treasured memory.
Our vision for Cima del Mundo is crystal clear:
This home will welcome our friends and the friends we have yet to meet. Cima del Mundo is a place of tranquility, inspiration, freedom, kindness, respect and relaxation.
It is our privilege to welcome travelers to our guest suites – to share our home and gifts with them.
Deborah O'Keeffe purchased this condo in 2011
The Viequense are wonderfully friendly people who share their beautiful beaches, wild horses, jungles to explore, relaxed pace, great food and history with travelers from all over the world.
Although Vieques is easily reached by air, once here you feel like you are millions of miles away. Vieques is the Caribbean as it used to be.
Relax in a serene setting, enjoy gorgeous sunsets, watch the wild horses, take walks in a safe setting.
While Cima del Mundo is set apart from the rest, our location is close to everything. You will enjoy the best of both worlds!
I don't even know where to begin! Deborah and Dennis are wonderful. The location of their home is perfect! Very convenient. They supplied everything we needed, including advice. The pool was amazing. The apartment was very clean and just right for our family of four. Not only are we planning to come back to Vieques next year, we will definitely stay here again. Added bonus was Dennis picking us up a the airport, giving a tour of the island and to our rental car.
What a fantastic find! I have been coming to Vieques for eight years now with my family. You are welcomed by such gracious hosts. We had such a wonderful stay with Deb and Dennis, every review that you read is absolutely correct. Dennis was lending helpful hints to us when to get gas. Deb came to pick us up at the airport and brought us to get our rental vehicle. She also went out of her way to pick our daughter up at the ferry. Her welcoming greeting included some cold medalla beers on ice for thirsty travelers.
My wife and I were looking for a warm, quiet place to get away in the winter. We wanted to spend quiet time on beautiful beaches, eat good food, and generally restore our spirits. Vieques did all of that and more. Between beautiful beaches that for the most part are undeveloped, wild horses that roam the island, fantastic sailing and snorkeling expedition where my wife snorkeled next to a sting ray, our desires were totally met. We ate delicious food from restaurants overlooking the Caribbean or deep in tropical jungle, all of it quite wonderful. What topped off the experience to make it heavenly was the perfect hosting by Deborah and Dennis O'Keeffe. The ability to provide you with expert hospitality, exquisite taste, and as much privacy as you wish is a remarkable balance rarely achieved. However, Deborah and Dennis were all of that and more. They provide a wonderful tour of the island with much background information, offer a beautiful property at reasonable prices, with beautiful views and simple but elegant taste, and lastly a warmth and charm that makes you feel welcomed and cared for. I am not someone who is easily impressed and I left this delightful little island wanting to come back soon.
My wife and I spent seven magical days on Vieques staying at Cima Del Mundo, Del Sol suite. It was our first visit to the island and hopefully many more to come. From the moment we arrived at the airport and greeted by Deborah, we knew we made the right choice.
Deborah took us on. "getting acquainted" tour of the island before taking us to get our Jeep. This tour was extremely helpful. Although Vieques is small, the roads are very curvy and don't always make sense in the way they go. When we arrived at the house, we were blown away by the amazing ocean/ island views. Every day we saw many rainbows from the brief rain showers and at night the coquies serenaded us to sleep.
There are so many beaches to see and each has it's own unique flavor. For a calm snorkle beach head to Starfish Beach on the west side of the Mosquito Pier. The Mosquito Pier was also a wonderful scuba spot for us on Christmas morning. Green Beach on the west coast was also a decent snorkle beach with many crevices to explore. To the south, our favorite was Caracas and Sun Bay. The waves were quite big the week we were there but the boogie boards provided at the house were a fun way to enjoy them. Also take advantage of a paddle board tour on the beautiful bay next to the Bio Bay.
One evening we took the kayak tour in the Bio Bay. This is definitely something not to miss. We had some great dining experiences in Esperanza as well as Isabel Segundo. Our favorite bar was Al's Mar Azul. If you are looking for upscale, fancy, don't go to Al's. If you want a great view of the ferries coming and going and gorgeous sunsets, go to Al's. The food is bar food but good. Get the chili cheese fries and try one of the many flavor of wings. We also came on taco night and enjoyed a taco as an appetizer before going to dinner at Taverna, great Italian food. Mamasonga's also has a nice roof top deck with decent food and good drink prices.
There's so much to write about here but the most important thing to mention is the fabulous hospitality from Deborah and Dennis. Staying at Cima Del Mundo is a must when visiting Vieques. We can't wait to return.
This was our 2nd trip to Vieques and when we decided to make a return there was not a hesitation in our minds that we would not stay at Cima and visit Deborah and Dennis. Their hospitality is evident as soon as you step off the plane. This flows right into your quick island tour and before you know it you are up and over the hill and on top of paradise. Cima offers 2 spacious bedrooms which was plenty of room for our family of 3. The views from the balcony are breathtaking and worth watching the sunset over the big island. Our first trip we overpacked but for this we left all the extras at home. The rental provides snorkeling gear, towels, beach bags, sand buckets, chairs, coolers, travel mugs, bags, etc. No detail has been left unturned. My advice: pack your suitcase and then remove half of it, that is all you will need. We spent the majority of our days on the beaches and came home nightly and cooked dinner. One night included lobster and fresh fish from the fish market. We felt at home at Cima and know you will feel the same! Thank you.
We stayed in the Del Sol suite, the smaller of the two, at Cima Del Mundo, for 6 nights. It's gorgeous. I felt like we were on the top of the world, with large windows opening to the balcony and stunning views of the Vieques Island, the Atlantic Ocean, and Culebra Island. High ceilings added to the openness and sense of floating on top of the world, as well as making the place feel larger. We are a family of four and it was more than large enough for our one week stay, with everyone feeling like they could find their "own space" when needed.
From a cleanliness standpoint, the place is immaculate, and everything is in excellent condition. My 15 year old said excitedly, "Dad, this is like a penthouse!"
From an amenities standpoint, the O'Keefe's are hands-down the most thoughtful hosts I've ever experienced. They have everything, and I mean everything, you, could want or need in the suite. Pack a couple pairs of clothes, a bathing, suit, and a toothbrush, and the O'Keefe's have taken care of the rest. We mostly ate "at home" and the vacation home always had the pots, pans, tools, etc, needed to prepare, enjoy, and clean-up our meals. The suite also has a nice sound system for listening to music. The beds and bedrooms are comfortable. Any interest, question, or concern we had was given top-priority by the O'Keefes, who are clearly genuinely compassionate, friendly, and caring people.
It was so nice to have beach chairs, beach towels, beach bags, a beach umbrella, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, and a cooler ready to grab-and-go for beach trips. We greatly appreciated the on-site washer and dryer available.
The pool is in pristine condition, heated, and situated perfectly to take advantage of the home's jaw-dropping beautiful location.
Deborah (and Dennis) O'Keefe are the best Hosts we've ever had. This lady is over-the-top awesome. Not intrusive, yet superbly attentive. She welcomed us at the airport and gave us a terrific orientation of the island and then of our vacation rental. When we had a medically urgent situation arise, Deborah was immediately like a helpful member of the family. When she discovered our interest in art, she helped us with getting and lending art supplies. Dennis is a retired law-enforcement and security expert, who has set up a secure and safe environment which provided extra peace of mind, enough to leave our teenagers "at home" for a couple of hours while my wife and I went on a date. Wonderful!
On the way to Cima del Mundo, visit the burial ground of Teofilo Jose Jaime Maria Le Guillou, who died in 1843. After he emigrated from France to Vieques in 1823, he was appointed by the Spanish crown as the first 'political and military governor of the island of Vieques who developed a plan for the political and economic organization of the island.
