We are located in the heart of the Village of Sanilac, across the street from the boat launch and main beach. We are 1 and a half blocks to the harbor and to the main street with shops and restaurants.
Les and Diana ran a Bed and Breakfast in Whistler Resort, BC Canada for 23 years. We love the lodging industry and treasure the many guests we have met over the years, some of whom we still keep in contact with.
We also had a 'casita' in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain which we rented out when we weren't enjoying the tropical paradise ourselves. We learned to speak limited Spanish from our time in the islands.
We now split our time between Port Sanilac, Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron and Henderson, Nevada on the outskirts of Las Vegas.
Les & Diana Habkirk purchased this cottage in 2014
We chose Port Sanilac because two of Les' daughters and families already had cottages here and this is where most of the grandkids (and great grandkids!) are on weekends.
We also just love the village and it's residence. It is a small, friendly town with a big heart.
We fell in love with this property the first time we saw it. The property is almost new, very high end and gorgeous.
The Inn was constructed in 2010 by Stone Builders of Michigan who specialize in building with the highest quality materials and construction techniques, including many energy-efficient and green building technologies.
The inn was profesionally decorated with high quality furnishings in the cottage style. No detail has been spared.
The location is optimal - in the heart of the Village of Port Sanilac. We have the main beach and boat launch in front of our property and the community tennis court and basketball court behind. We are around the corner from the harbor and marina, mainstreet shops and restaurants and the park where there is live music every weekend.
There are gorgeous Lake Huron views from almost every room in the property.
Kitchen amenities include a 4 burner gas stovetop and oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, travertin stone floors and corian countertops. Enjoy stainless steel cookware, Ralph Loren dishes, Oneida flatware and Riedel crystal stemware. The water to the kitchen is tripple reverse osmosis filtered and tastes great.

We stayed at the house over Thanksgiving weekend. 3 brothers and their families. The house was very comfortable and well appointed for our group of 14. The owners were very helpful and responsive throughout the entire process. Next time we will have to come in the summer so we can enjoy the close proximity to the water!
We just had the best stay in Port Sanilac! I can't say enough good things about our stay. Plenty of space for 10 people inc 3 kids, and the 3 sisters had a wonderful time at Three Sisters Inn, our 3 year old daughter wanted to stay "forever" :). You can't beat the location, pier & beach are a short walking distance across the street, and you can watch the boaters set out each morning. Watching the early sunrise view over Lake Huron was amazing and you can't beat the view for your morning walk. The house was VERY clean and tastefully decorated: comfortable beds in beautifully appointed rooms, stocked kitchen and a media room that also had all the equipment for the backyard volleyball net and adjacent basketball/tennis courts. I almost forgot about the grill and the outdoor fireplace where we ended each evening! A park for the kiddies is a mere 1.5 blocks away, next to the ice cream shop & harbor view restaurant. The beach was small but sparsely populated, and we rented a kayak & paddleboard there for more fun. Diane greeted us warmly, walked us through the property and provided great tips on the area restaurants and grocery store (we walked there). We're still talking about the wonderful weekend, and hope to come back again soon.
Excellent place for a family weekend retreat. Directly across the street from Lake Huron with a boat launch, fish cleaning station, with a beautiful pier for walking on. The house is beyond belief. Very well kept up, and artistically decorated. Tons of things to do, with tennis courts, a huge fenced in back yard that i have only dreamed about that is well stocked with sports equipment. Game room is stacked with entertainment including big screen TV, pool table and more comfy furnature than i have in my entire house! My only complaint is that the house is located right next to the local fire station. That would normaly not be a problem except that every time there is a 911 call they set off a World War 2 air raid siren that could wake the dead. (Or my 2 sleeping children). If you have young children who wake at the drop of a pin they will definatly be woken up in the middle of the night if there is an emergency call anywhere in town. If you enjoy a look back in time the siren makes this place epic and exciting! Despite my kids being woken up a couple times i still give this place a 5 STAR rating because of the great time we had here! I would definatly recommend staying here and hope to come back soon!
This beautiful home was perfect for our family! It has every kind of amenity a person wanting the 'up north' experience could want...but in an upscale way! We had perfect weather, which always helps! We loved fishing off the breakwall and swimming in Lake Huron, as well as having a fire in the firepit and just sitting on the front porch watching the world go by! We can't wait to go back next summer!! Thanks for everything!
The house was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Every amenity was top of the line. We had plenty of room for the gathering of our 14 adults and children. The house is set up well for providing sleeping quarters for multiple families. This property is certainly much more than a " Michigan Cottage".
The owners provided a lot of toys, sports equipment, beach towels, etc. The BBQ, fireplace, fire pit, tables and chairs in the yard provided a perfect setting for viewing the lake, dining, roasting smores and providing a place for the kids to play. The beach, park, marina and ice cream store (the kids favorite) are a short walk away.
I would have rated our stay a five if we would not have had a problem with hot water. Diana and Les went of our their way to get the problem fixed as quickly as possible. Their top priority was to make our stay as pleasant and problem free as possible.
We have spent many summers in Port Sanilac. This was one of our best and we look forward to returning to the Three Sisters Inn in the future.
I know our next visit will be a five.
Bright, clean, new furnishings, extra comfy beds, beautiful views, large patio and yard, great tv/game room. the whole family raved about the home, we had a great time. Only negative was no microwave,
Fun activities within a few minutes walk:
The Beach – We are located ‘a stones throw’ from the main beach in Port Sanilac. Just cross the street and walk through the boat launch parking lot – it’s literally a 2 minute walk to the beach! We provide beach towels and water toys.
The Harbor – We are a 1 and a half block walk to the Port Sanilac Harbor and Marina. The beautiful hub of our village offers spectacular views of sailboats and lake, a public park with live music on weekends, a kids playground, grilles, picnic tables, an ice cream stand. Fun!
Ball Sports – We are lucky to have the beach directly in front of our property, but we are equally lucky to have the public basketball court and tennis court on the other side of our back fence! And our large grassy lawn makes a great football field. We provide rackets and balls.
Boating – Bring your boat and park it or launch it directly in front of Three Sisters Inn at the public boat launch. Or, you can charter a boat or rent a kayak or inflatable at the marina.
Fishing – Lake Huron is known for Perch, Salmon and Walleye and Lake Trout. If you don’t have a boat fishing from the break wall works just as well. We are across the street from the north break wall. There is a stainless steel fish cleaning station at the marina.
Diving – Port Sanilac is home to the Sanilac Shores Underwater Preserve. This marine museum is home to a number of historical shipwrecks, including the Regina, a 250 foot steel package freighter that sank in the a fierce gale in 1913. Diving charters are available at the Harbor.
Lighthouse and Museum – Just a few blocks down Lake Street is the Port Sanilac Lighthouse which dates from, 1886 and about a 20 minute walk will take you to the Sanilac County Village and Historical Museum, a 10 acre site with 12 historic buildings.
